The peaceful mountaintop community of Green Valley Lake was developed in the 1930s as a mountain retreat and recreational area. The small village features two restaurants covering breakfast lunch and dinner, a small grocery for the essentials, a small hardware store, and post office (as well as the requisite real estate offices). A three-minute walk takes you to the lake itself with its swimming beach and access to the boat dock where canoes, kayaks, row boats, and paddle boat may be rented (no power boats are permitted). The stocked lake is very popular for fishing either from boats or from the shore. The Green Valley Lake roads are slightly hilly making for leisurely neighborhood walks and enjoying the wide variety of mountain architecture. Well marked trails into the San Bernadino National Forrest are available for the more adventuresome.
The all-cedar cabin was built by noted area designer/builder, Virgl Wilde, with his trademark window framing, functional styling and heavy planked bar in the kitchen. The large deck across the back of the cabin, surrounded by majestic pine trees, provides a combination of sun and shade throughout most of the day for sunbathing, bird watching, or just enjoying the view and refreshing mountain air.
The cozy interior features comfortable seating in the cedar-gabled living room for reading, games, and just relaxing. The amenities include a stereo receiver with CD changer, cable TV with DVD and VCR, and a high speed internet connection. A high bar with stools separates the kitchen from the living room permitting easy chatting during meal preparation in the fully equipped modern kitchen with adjoining dining area for four. Central heating will remove winter's chill within minutes after arrival. The final touch of charm comes from the wood-burning, cast iron Franklin Fireplace.
Steve and Gordon use this highly functional, nicely appointed cabin as a peaceful retreat from the desert heat. We are hoping that you will enjoy this wonderful spot as much as we do.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 1991
The area is very much unspoiled and unchanged since I first saw it in my youth.
Relaxing on the deck or lakeside. Fishing in the well stocked lake, and the seasonal art exhibits. Watching the seasons change.
The place was great. We enjoyed our stay. Close to Snow Valley and Running Springs.
The cabin was well equipped and our stay was great. Worked out perfectly fine for our get away
My small family of three spent New Year's Eve at the Love Shack and we absolutely loved it! The cabin is better than the pictures! It is fully stocked with everything you would need for a weekend getaway. The place has an awesome TV and great WiFi. We loved the nice secluded location. The beds were nice and comfy and we all slept really great. The place exceeded our expectations and we would definitely love to come back and spend time there again!
Much bigger than I expected, fully stocked, great location next to arrowbear snowvalley, conveniently in between big bear lake and lake arrowhead. I actually fished here as a kid in green valley lake and have a friend that has a cabin in nearby arrow bear. Thx for a great stay!
This is our first time resnting from VRBO. My wife booked this place for us, and I gotta say: This was her best choice yet! Even better than the places we've rented from AirB(?). And we've used them even out of State a few times. We pulled in from driving all afternoon. We arrived closer to 7pm, as it was New Year's Day, and the traffic heading up the mountain was horrendous. It had just snowed, so most inexperienced drivers were pulling over to put their snow chains on. The drive up the mountain took way longer than expected. So if you decide to stay here, consider the season and holidays.
We pull in the drive way, and there weren't alot of street lights in this area around the house. So we couldn't appreciate the snow and view as much as it would in the daylight. But we already knew our stay would be worth it, with the nature around. I walk in, and I automaticaly fell in love. One of the things I noticed here in SoCal when I moved here to marry my wife, is the lack of carpet in houses. Granted it is not needed much due to weather, but it made homes feel welcoming. I was so glad this house was 85% carpeted (except the bathroom & kitchen)! Again, the mountains and snow called for it. Regardless, I was ecstatic.
The place was clean. Immaculate. There were no smells or scents of any kind. It was as if it was never used. All furniture (couches, beds, chairs) were comfortable. The fireplace was an added bonus. It defintely kept the living area warm, inviting, and a memorable treat to have with my family. We had pictorials as well! My wife's iPhone 7+ was worth every penny.
It is about a couple of blocks from a small strip of businesses (2 restaurants, and about 2 other store fronts), across the small lake. This little town is so beautiful. But you can also keep driving down for about 3-5 miles for a slightly bigger town (Deer Lick. It really is not that bigger, but just with more choices.). It also means alot more people.
But back to the place: You will not regret this house. We made meories with my small family (wife and 3 year old daughter)! You will definitely enjoy it. It is located perfectly. We plan to return here in a dryer, warmer weather for a diferent perspective. Can't wait already!
