'The beauty of the Willamette Valley is that you can get lost on the backcountry roads but always find a good glass of Pinot around the next bend.' Sunset June 2009
Our cottage is located within walking distance to the historic downtown 3rd street, filled with galleries, restaurants, shops, antiques, and new tasting rooms that are popping up everywhere! It is close to Linfield College, less than an hour from the city lights of Portland, and 50 minutes from a bowl of clam chowder on the Pacific Ocean. Add another hour and you can be skiing down Mt. Hood. 30 minutes takes you to our state's capital of Salem.
Relax in a quaint and cozy cottage for two, sit on your own porch overlooking a private big back yard, sit by a fire, have a picnic or BBQ and plan your next day's excursions in this beautiful Willamette Valley.
I am a retired school teacher and my husband is a retired contractor who keeps busy working on our property here and in Sheridan and California. We decided to share the cottage not only with family but with people who visit McMinnville for its surrounding pleasures and those visiting students at Linfield. We have 5 children and 6 grandchildren nearby. Our lives are busy with the many people we love. We would love to share our space with people who love this area as much as we do.
Connie Fasana purchased this cottage in 1996
We love where we live, within walking distance to 3rd Street, close to the library and pool and surrounded by nice neighbors. Our backyard is large and private which gives the cottage additional space to sit or be near a fire in the evenings. We walk to restaurants and the local pub to hear live music. Many days we do not even get into our car. I love it here!
What a wonderful place! We had a great time staying here in McMinnville- the local wine and brews, the whales on the coast, the beautiful scenery- and a cute place with a beautiful yard to top it all off! THANKS!
This place is exactly as described. Cute, cozy, perfect for 2 and on a quiet street. It's about a 15 minute walk to the main downtown McMinnville area called 3rd street with tons of restaurants and shops. The kitchen is fully functioning, the bed is comfy, and the backyard is really nice. The main reason why I didn't rate this as a full 5 star is that there is a large ant infestation in the place. Mostly in the kitchen, but also in the bathroom and closet. In the kitchen - do not leave any food out at all. We didn't know that there was this ant problem and on the 1st night we had a bag of bread (still in a plastic bag with a twist tie) on the counter and the ants were swarming inside and outside the bag. Hundreds of little black ants! They are harmless, but pretty unpleasant to see. The ants even got in our dog food which we had put out for him. All week we were dealing with ants crawling everywhere. Once that gets taken care of it, it'll be a truly cozy and comfortable place to stay!
This super cute cottage had everything I needed for the week, and then some. Connie and Mark were gracious hosts who gave us all the privacy we needed even though they were available nearby if anything came up. I highly recommend this place, which is within walking distance to a great shopping and dining neighborhood. It's centrally located to all things wine country too!!
We had such a lovely stay at the garden cottage this weekend. It was the perfect combination of quiet peaceful sanctuary, yet close to everything in McMinville. The space was clean, cozy and serene. We hope to return during our next trip to McMinville. Thank you, Connie!
The Garden Cottage was pleasant and well stocked and maintained. The owners were very accommodating. The town of McMinnville's historic district was charming and a foodie treat. The surrounding Willamete Valley area is beautiful. It was a nice stay at the beginning of our trip.
My daughter and I spent 4 nights at this lovely garden cottage. It is exactly what we expected from the listing. The backyard is absolutely beautiful, and the cottage is clean and well-maintained. Connie, the owner was wonderful to deal with and she made sure we had everything we needed. I would certainly recommend this property to a friend, and I would also stay here again too. We loved to walk to downtown McMinnville in the evening for dinner and several wineries are very easy to drive to. We can't wait to go back to this beautiful area.
While we didn't meet Connie we were introduced to the property by her friend. It was a perfect private hideaway on a quiet residential street within easy walking distance to downtown. We totally enjoyed our stay and very highly recommend this property.
