Situated in picturesque Hubbards, a quiet gem of Nova Scotia’s famed South Shore, the Shore House is a wonderful base for your holiday. The Shore House has a spectacular oceanfront setting directly on Hubbards Cove, where you can watch the fishing boats and sailboats as they come and go. The light-filled house is fully renovated and decorated in a clean, contemporary style.
On the main floor are a well-equipped kitchen, large bright dining area, and a large living room whose expansive windows face directly on the ocean. Off the living room is a deck with barbeque, perfect for outdoor meals. The two bedrooms are upstairs. Fronting the house is a large lawn, perfect for Frisbee, badminton, bocce, or just taking in the wonderful views.
Located on St. Margaret’s Bay just a 40-minute drive from the vibrant city of Halifax, Hubbards is ideally situated for visiting some of Nova Scotia’s highlights. The charming seaside towns of Chester and Mahone Bay are just minutes away by car, and the historic town of Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an easy and highly rewarding day trip. A handful of the province’s best beaches are on your doorstep, including Queensland and Bayswater Beaches.
Other day trip options abound, including the famous village of Peggy’s Cove, the scenic Annapolis Valley, and the always exciting city of Halifax. The village of Hubbards itself features hiking along the Aspotogan Trail, some fine restaurants, a farmer’s market on summer weekends, and lobster suppers at the Shore Club, Nova Scotia’s last dance hall, where Saturdays still mean live music and dancing.
Let the Shore House be your base for exploring this marvelous part of Nova Scotia.
Stayed for 4 days, the house was perfect for 4 people, cozy, nice deck to soak in afternoon sun, view on the water. The neighbors were also extremely friendly and helpful, then even lent us the tools required to clean out our lobsters purchased from the fish market less then 5 minutes away. All in all a great place, and a great vacation.
We stayed for 4 days at the shore house and it was one of the best experiences we had. Very clean, cozy house. In a second the feeling you arrived home. The best spot you can imagine, drinking your morning coffee sitting in the chair overlooking the bay. You don't need more than that. But there is plenty more. Eat lobster at the shore club is a must. We dropped by at the beaches around, like queensland, bayswater beach.
When going to peggy's cove, drop by at 'White Sails Bakery & Deli' along the road, in Tantallon. great food with a great outside terrace to sit and look.
Lunenburg is a nice city to visit.
All in all a great stay, perfect house and great environment.
Stayed with two adults and two young children. The house suited us perfectly. The house is really well kept and newly renovated. We loved the town of Hubbards. From this location, we made short trips (no more than half an hour) to Lunenberg, Mahone Bay, Chester, Peggy's Cove, Terrence Bay and Halifax. All beautiful. Be sure not to miss Hubbards farmers market on Saturday morning...yum! The Trellis cafe in Hubbards is a great place for food, music, and people watching.
A beautifully renovated cottage, centrally located, great for exploring Halifax (40 mins), Peggy's Cove (45 mins),Chester (10mins) and Lunenburg (40 mins). Easy day trips to the Annapolis Valley and Bay of Fundy. The cottage is bright and sunny, clean and comfortable and directly on the waterfront (no beach access) with a beautiful view of Hubbards Cove. Queensland Beach is only a 3 minute drive and has free parking. The Trellis Cafe has excellent food and free Wi Fi, so does the public library although they have limited hours. The cottage is perfect for a family of 4 and can sleep 5 if you have a young child that can sleep on the inflatable bed provided. The washer and dryer is great when you have kids !!
We had a great time at the Shore House !!
See the link below that gives a great overview of the area and that ends with a close-up of the cottage !
The cottage was perfect! Great location on the shore and perfect for day trips around the southern shore and valley! We took a trip to the bay of fundy (2 1/2 hour drive to see endangered whales and the highest/lowest tide swings), peggy's cove and all along the coastline! Don't miss the Shore Supper (Lobster) served Thursday - Sunday. Just down the road is a private sandy beach and the food shack on just before the beach is a great place to meet some locals and travelers alike. The red squirrels were super friendly (and hungry). The new wineries in the Valley are only about an hour away from Hubbards. The house is super comfy. Having a washer/dryer was awesome! Thanks to Chris for a great location!
