Why Lisa Rice chose North Central Florida

Relax on our huge deck on the river to enjoy the beautiful sunsets. Fish from our dock to catch big mouth bass. We have 3 single kayaks for you to explore all the nature that surrounds us. Our home is nestled in amongst 52 acres of woods yet the grocery, local restaurants, Rainbow Springs State Park, and antique shops are all less than 10 minutes away. Once you arrive at our home you would never know that civilization is close by. This is the perfect escape from our busy lives in the city.

What makes this house unique

The home is spacious and comfortable. Our favorite spot is our huge screened-in porch overlooking the Withlacoochee River as we play at our pool table. The deck creates a covered boat slip. Enjoy making smores with your family and friends at our fire pit area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for your very kind review. I really enjoyed having you guys as guests and look forward to your next visit in April 2012. In the meantime the deck is waiting as well as the fishing gear. Thanks again, Harold Korb

Excellent month in the sun and nature

  • 5 of 5

The river house is in a great location an undeveloped all wooded section of Dunnellon. This is a bird and reptile lovers paradise! On a lesser traveled section of the river, not much boat traffic, occasional friendly fisherman. The deck and screen porch are the main attractions, nice pool table for those leisurely afternoons. A couple of great river tours available, and Dunnellon is an easy laid back little town. We enjoyed the outdoor dining at Swampys and Blue Gator. Several great breakfast joints.Golfers, play Juliet Falls, and Twisted Oaks! Plenty of room at the river house bring friends and family.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you enjoyed your month stay at our home in March as you escaped your Michigan winter. It was so nice meeting you and your wife the lucky retirees. Your review describes everything we love about our area surrounding our home. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience and giving others the names of places you visited and enjoyed. Your professional photographer friend Fran truly captured the beautiful nature that is all around us. Anyone reading this needs to check out her site at and browse art & travel to find her Withlacoochee trip. Thank you for your wonderful and helpful review and we look forward to you returning again and again. Kind Regards, Lisa & Ray Rice

We had a wonderful 50th birthday celebration at the Rice River House Retreat! When we arrived, Lisa took us on a thorough tour of the home and spent time getting to know us. She even baked us amazing bread and had a special birthday banner for our arrival.

The location and atmosphere were exactly what we were looking for. The home was well maintained and we really enjoyed meals and hanging out in both the outside and screened-in patio areas. We rented boats down the street to explore the rivers. We also enjoyed fishing and kayaking right from the backyard dock. We would recommend this to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life!

Owner's Response: It was such a pleasure to meet all of you ladies. I loved the pictures you sent of the beautiful sunset you enjoyed from the deck, you ladies boating on the river, and especially the group shot of the 6 of you on the dock with such joyful smiles on each of you. I have that one framed on our River House Family Wall of Fame. Ray and I are so glad that you enjoyed your stay in our home and can't wait to have you back again. Sounded like the 40th birthday celebration is next or no occasion at all. Just come to have fun again. Thanks for taking the time to send such a nice review and treating our home as if it were yours. Kind Regards, Lisa & Ray

There are no words to describe how amazingly beautiful this home is, the location is perfect near town but yet hidden in the woods, we never heard a car go by, only the sounds of nature were relaxing, our kids enjoyed playing pool, fishing, watching movies, figuring out puzzles (great selection by the way) and hiking in the woods.

We WILL definitely return! The owners are so sweet made us feel so welcomed. Thank you Lisa and Ray for having such a beautiful home.

Love, the Pavon Family

Owner's Response: It brings us such great joy to be able to share our home with such a nice family as yours! Your children are so well behaved and polite and it really warmed our hearts when your son greeted us as you were leaving with the art he had drawn for us. Thank you for sharing the pictures you took of all of the fun you had during your stay at our home and at Rainbow Springs. There are so many great ones that we're going to have a hard time picking favorites to showcase on our river house family wall. It was such a PLEASURE to meet you all and we look forward to having you stay again anytime. We also want to thank you for leaving the house so clean and your kind review. Love, Lisa & Ray Rice

Amazing river home

  • 5 of 5

Perfect birthday getaway for my husband and anniversary trip for my in laws. We enjoyed everything from the beautiful open country home on the river to sounds of wildlife and close proximity to rainbow River, withlachochee state trail , rolling acres of horse farms and the gulf. We had a wonderful experience. Loved kayaking from the back deck. Best bass fishing just minutes from the dock and plenty to see and do in this charming small town. Lisa made my in laws feel right at home and had fresh home made bread when they arrived. 5 stars. Definitely hoping to make it an annual trip!

Owner's Response: Thank you Jaclyn for your 5 star rating and helpful review. I really enjoyed talking to Cheryl & Jennifer while I was waiting for you to arrive. I'm just sorry your trip started out with a flat tire and we never got to meet in person. You were a delight to correspond with in booking this vacation for your family. We are so glad that you all had such a good time and we look forward to your return and meeting you in person next time. Kind Regards, Lisa & Ray Rice

My high school aged kids and I had a wonderful time here. I highly recommend this location and I rarely write a review. Lisa greeted us with her famous bread, which was great. The house was very clean and comfortable. Plenty to do around here and a nice escape from all the noise and distractions in life. This has to be the coolest place on the river. All the other positive reviews are right on the money!

An amazing place to relax with your family!

  • 5 of 5

This home is truly hidden away. We never heard a car or person the entire time we were there. All we heard was the sounds of birds, fish jumping and bullfrogs. We lived on the screen porch and the outside decks. My husband joked that he could not get me to come inside until the sun went down. We fished, kayaked and paddle boarded as much as we could possibly stand. The listing description is accurate. The three bathrooms and bedrooms were clean and well maintained. There was room for everyone to have a little space of their own if they needed it. Lisa met us at the house and had a loaf of home baked bread waiting! The house was very well stocked with everything we needed and there is a Walmart just down the street.

We were able to kayak to the tuber bridge in less than an hour. You could continue up into the rainbow for swimming etc. The cove is also nice for paddle boarding etc. The kids pulled brim out of the lower deck all day long. We saw blue heron, alligators, turtles, an otter, etc... You literally could sit on the upper deck all day and be content. If you like to be outside and enjoy nature, this is the place for you.
