The 6th President of Argentina: Bartolome Mitre (1821-1906) was the first owner, who ordered to build this Villa in the last decade of the 19th century. This Mansion has always been kept in the Mitre family. Bartolome Mitre was also the founder of La Nación, one of South America's leading newspapers, in 1870. This Villa is decorated with fine art paintings of well known Argentine artists, like Nicolas Uriburu and Blanca Alvarez.

My name is Daniela and I am the owner´s representative. I was born in Salta, a beautiful colonial city in the North of Argentina where I grew up in a large family. Spanish is my native language. I studied Law and traveled through South and North America and Europe, while studying English in London (U.K.) and in Toronto (Canada). Recently, I have also studied Portugues in Río de Janeiro (Brazil) and traveled to China and the Middle East. I have lived in different places in Argentina and abroad, but from 1997 I have chosen Buenos Aires City as my Home town and became a Vacation Rentals Manager and Real Estate and Art Agent. It is for me a great pleasure to welcome you at your arrival and to help you have a wonderful stay in this exciting city.
This location in Palermo Chico area is like a paradisiacal oasis: tropical, exclusive, elegant, very clean, quiet and safe, though very close to Buenos Aires City main attractions. The most famous artists of Argentina live here. The architect Carlos Thays –who also designed the Botanic Garden- set the limits of Palermo Chico area in 1912. His intention was to design a ‘park-like neighborhood’ with curved and irregular streets plenty of green spaces. Several local species were planted like Tipas, Jacarandas, Palos Borracho, Lapachos and Ceibos. The Villa is walking distance to the MALBA Museum of Latin American Art. This is the area where many Embassies are located.
You will enjoy the relaxed luxury of this French Villa, that is located so close to all the amazing attractions that Buenos Aires City has to offer. Every morning the maid will prepare your delicious breakfast in the garden, if you wish. The maids will treat you as Royalty.
This large, spacious, elegant townhome has everything you need to feel like you are the guest of the mayor of Buenos Aires. Looking around at the high ceilings, antique fixtures, hardwood floors and large patio/terrace, the home made us feel like the original owner was a very wealthy, educated and well-read and esteemed individual. There is a library there we still talk about....tomes in French, Italian, English, Latin and of course Spanish. Who could be that fluent in so many languages, after all? The neighborhood is extremely safe (a guard is outside 24 hours a day) and is near many embassies. Highly recommend!
My family and I stayed here for a month during the (mild) Argentine winter. The pictures are amazing, but they don't do justice to this magical house. Even though we were a walk to the heart of Recoleta, in the morning all we could hear were the birds chirping. The staff at the house couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The downstairs is magnificent (we hosted several dinner parties and the guests were amazed). The upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms were more than adequate, and the art in the villa was striking. Gardens surround the house and give a feeling of real privacy, especially on the terrace where we would have breakfast. Convenient to downtown, the city airport, shopping (Paseo Alcorta) and restaurants. The street and neighborhood are secluded and lovely and extremely safe. We would go back to this house in a heartbeat!

This Mansion is located in 'Barrio Parque', the most upmarket part of Palermo, that is strictly a residential area, laid out in winding streets. Many of the wealthy and famous own homes in this section, which also includes numerous Embassies and the San Martín National Institute. I recommend to walk and cycle this area, while admiring the splendid mansions set in broad private parks. This area remains one of the wealthiest in the city, home to luxury condominium and apartment developments, the largest of which is currently the Le Parc Figueroa Alcorta towers, close to the Paseo Alcorta Shopping Mall.
A must see is the Museum of Latin American Art or MALBA, that has a lively Restaurant and a Café.
