When visiting Hilton Head there are many rental properties to choose from. Our villa is located in the Palmetto Dunes Resort and we offer affordable rates which allow our guests to save on their vacation while enjoying the beautiful landscape of the Fazio golf course and a scenic lagoon setting.
Our St. Andrews property is located directly across the street from the Shelter Cover Marina in the middle of the island, making it very accessible to all activities. There is a large pool that overlooks the golf course a few yards from our villa. We are less than two minutes from the beach and tennis facility making it very easy to walk, bike, or drive to the activities you desire.
Our first class, yet affordable, accommodations include a sunken living room with cathedral ceilings, a queen-size sofa bed, large flat screen HD TV with cable and a DVD player. We offer a full kitchen with breakfast bar and adjoining dining area. Our master bedroom contains a king-size bed, private bath and a flat screen HD TV. A spiral staircase leads to the second bedroom with twin beds a private bath and a flat screen HD TV. There is an in-suite laundry room with a full-size washer and dryer. French doors in the living room open to a quiet, outside deck. And of course the villa has secured internet access.
Our villa will provide you with everything that you will need for a fantastic vacation. The world-famous beach is only a few minutes from our villa. Bring or rent some bikes and in two minutes you are riding on the sand.
Palmetto Dunes is a beautiful resort that offers biking, tennis, golf, canoeing, shopping, and great places to eat. Walk across the street to the famous Shelter Cove Harbor and watch the fireworks every Tuesday during the vacation season. And free transportation within Palmetto Dunes and Shelter Cove is only a phone call away to the 'Dunes Buggy' (normally runs April 1st - September 30th)
We love the beach! We have been vacationing here since 2002 with our children and, occasionally, our extended family. Each year we make the drive from New Jersey, or 'Jersey' as we call it, for our week or two on the island. This year, 2014, we were able to purchase the villa from Michael's parents and now we own our own slice of paradise! We are very happy to call H.H.I. our second home and grateful for the opportunity to spend more time here!
Michael & Maryellen Kelly purchased this villa in 2014
Palmetto Dunes is a secure, gated community. St. Andrews Common is peaceful, beautifully landscaped and well maintained. St. Andrews has a beautiful pool and pool house for your use. Palmetto Dunes offers a free shuttle service that will take you where ever you want to go within Palmetto Dunes and Shelter Cove. Some of the many things Shelter Cove offers are live music, fireworks, craft vendors, shopping, fishing excursions, and dolphin cruises. Both Palmetto Dunes and Shelter Cove are located center island and are easily accessible to many activities, such as beach, golf, tennis, shopping, biking, fishing, boating, and restaurants.
St. Andrews is private, quiet and peaceful. Our villa is the perfect retreat for a relaxing get away. It's your home away from home! Centrally located and near many activities, it makes exploring the island easy. Enjoy the free, secure, high speed internet, new flat screen HDTV's, comfortable beds, relaxing deck and all the comforts of home. Perfect for families, golf trips, or romantic getaways.
Palmetto Dunes, and in particular St Andrews Commons, is THE BEST place to stay on HHI bc it has the least "touristy" feel to it. This villa we stayed in was SO COMFORTABLE and SO "homey"! The decor was beautiful, it was clean and obviously well taken care of. The bedroom up in the loft was PERFECT for our teen and tween daughters; having their own big bathroom and TV...they loved it! Our bedroom was like an oasis after a long day of swimming and island adventures. The bed was huge and comfortable. Just so relaxing. We loved the large dining table where we played cards and some games each night as a family! And we LOVED the book selection! "Take a book, leave a book"...what a great idea! I read 2 books from those shelves! There were cards and a few games available also. Fun family bonding. We really couldn't have asked for a better villa. We also used the free Dune Buggy service which was fast and easy! Better than searching for parking or loading our car with wet and sandy chairs and towels. We walked to the General Store every morning for both exercise and shopping. The pool was perfect! Never crowded, CLEAN, and really close to the villa. We even walked to Shelter Cove for the fireworks! What a convenient, safe and clean walkway UNDER the highway! Sure beats fighting traffic at Shelter Cove on fireworks night!! Overall, a fabulous, CLEAN, beautifully furnished, comfortable villa. We WILL be back!!
The condo is very well furnished and is ideal for vacationing in HHI. We enjoyed kayaking, biking (on the beach) and exploring Savannah. The fireworks display on Tuesday night in Shelter Cove and visiting Harbour Town were particular highlights. Michael and Maryellen kept in touch and provided all the information we needed for a great vacation. Thanks !
This wasn't our first trip to HH. It has become a family destination. Our time spent at your villa was great. We live St. Andrews.. (The vegetaion in HH is one of the reason we love going there). The villa was spacious and comfy. Thanks for the cable and wifi. ( a must with two teenage daughters. Lol ) everything we needed was there. The lofted second bedroom area was perfect for them especially having a full bath to themselves. Only suggestion.. An electric grill on the deck (if permitted) for those like me who love to grill steaks, and a new lock/knob on the outside closet for easier access to the beach chairs. We had a tough time getting it open. Other than that it was great. The deck was nice for morning coffee. Beaches always clean and we even relaxed by the pool one afternoon. Water was nice, and plenty of shaded areas and even a couple of sun decks. I suggest one hot mammas( great wings!), Reileys ( fabulous pot pie!), and fat baby's.. Pretty decent pizza. We rode our bikes on the beach in the evening and took a nice kayaking trip in the lagoon in Hilton head.. Can't wait for our trip back.. Although because of the heat we may try visiting in the fall. Thanks again for sharing your villa! Can't wait to revisit and will make sure your villa is whee we go!
St Andrews is ok. The pool leaves a bit to be desired. It is surrounded by trees and it was difficult to find sun on a consistent basis from 11AM-2PM. The water was so cold (last week of May) that even children who were there refused to swim in it.
The unit we stayed in was a "2 bedroom" which is a generous description. It is a 1 bedroom with beds in a loft. The loft affords absolutely no privacy so if the unit was being shared by 2 couples there could be some uncomfortable moments to say the least. The appliances were dated - the dishwasher racks had places which were rusted through on both the top and bottom racks.
To top it all off, I received a "ticket" for $100 from the local Palmetto Dunes private security for illegal parking at the beach near the Dunes House. I paid it because they charge the people you rent from if you don't but it is a racket. The place where I parked was beyond the "No parking Fire Lane sign". I parked there every day from Tuesday to Friday and got the ticket on Friday. The car behind me (which was not beyond the sign) was also ticketed, but the car behind him was not (I am sure it wasn't because that car clearly belonged to a property owner in Palmetto Dunes).
Here's a suggestion: Clearly mark the no-parking area, put the sign at the line where the no parking starts, and if you are going to paint a yellow line make it more than 2.5 inches wide and refresh the yellow paint more than once every 5 years. It would also help if you blew the leaves off of it once in a while so you could actually see it. (I thought it was really nice of the guy who wrote the ticket to scrape the leaves up so it could be seen when we returned from the beach).
All that being said Palmetto Dunes is our favorite place to stay on HHI. If we return, we would rent this place again as long as we don't bring the family..
Our favorite restaurants are Mangiamo's (Buckeye bar on the island - great pizza and if you go to the restroom you can do your business on a blue and yellow M); Guiseppi's (great antipasto salad, pizza is second to Mangiamo's, it's the Steeler's bar on HHI which would be nice if I weren't Browns fan); and San Miguel at Shelter Cove (wonderful Mexican - they serve "white" Mexican rice which is awesome and totally unique).
I am over Sea Pines, seems like the shops there are tired, the restaurants are overpriced, and we have done the lighthouse enough. Coligny has a Skillets restaurant which was good and the Fudge Shop.
My husband and I immediately felt comfortable staying in this villa. The layout of the villa was very efficiently designed , with everything centralized and convenient to use. The location was also perfect for us, with the workout club a walk away and the beach, golf and tennis a pleasant and safe bike ride on beautiful bike paths. Our hosts were most accommodating, answering all our questions, and providing many activity options, which we took advantage of: tennis, pickleball, golf, the beach, wildlife refuges, horseback riding and lots of exploring with our bikes. We didn't need to go out to eat, with all the fresh seafood available and specialty grocery stores. However, there were many options and we hope to try a few more next time. Yes, we hope to come again!
This was our second visit to your Villa and again it was perfect! The villa is clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The location is convenient and located near the beach, restaurants, and shopping. This visit we took advantage of the beautiful pool, which was just steps away. The owners made everything so easy for us. From directions, to recommendations for dinner, they did not disappoint. This was another great weekend with the girls! We are already looking forward to staying again next spring!
