About Todd Runestad
Todd is the typical Colorado guy who climbs mountains, Sweetie stops along the trail to smell the flowers and not overlook the way the sun sparkles through the aspen leaves. Our young daughters go one better, stopping the both of us to point out worms and bugs along the trail.
Todd Runestad purchased this Cabin in 1999
Why Todd Runestad chose Grand Lake
Upon getting married in 1997, we searched the mountains of Colorado far and wide for our little slice of heaven. Our agreement (second of the summer!) was that the place had to 'sing' to the both of us. We figured we'd find a few acres and, someday, build an A-frame on it. In the third summer of our search, we heard of a place in Grand Lake. We walked up the steps and opened the front door to look inside. At the same second, we both said, 'Wow!' It was just what we were looking for -- charming, rustic, cozy, classic old-time mountain cabin. Sold! Total bonus that the town of Grand Lake is just as sweet a mountain town as you can ask for. Double-bonus that it's utterly kid-friendly, which works for our two girls just fine. Triple-bonus that the views from the cabin are into Rocky Mountain National Park.
What makes this Cabin unique
In the time BC (Before Children) we would spend most weekends up at the cabin, and more often than not doing what might be described as exactly nothing. In winter months we'd sit in rocking chairs, feeding the wood stove, reading newspapers, magazines and books, watching the clouds float by above the lake and over the mountains of the park. We like to keep a look out the window or from the deck for elk and moose and foxes that live in the area -- never fails to excite. We like to play board games, from Monopoly and Battleship to Twister and backgammon, and take walks right out the door on the dirt roads over to the North Fork of the Colorado River or just around the area. Good fun mountain biking, too. Our dogs ('the boys') love the area, probably as much as we do -- and, with wild fragrances all around, maybe more!

Beautiful and perfect area!
The property is beautiful great area , thanks for sharing this beautiful place!
This cabin was definately rustic but a great landing spot for our trip to RMNP.
Great location to Grand Lake area
This property is located just a block off the highway that goes right into the little town of Grand Lake. The mountains are beautiful! Upon arriving and opening our car doors my husband said "Smell the pines!"
Great Cozy little cabin!
We loved this cozy little home! We enjoyed the location and the lack of tv. The house had everything we needed and was true to the pictures provided. It was a great first trip for our toddler. Being Texans we were a little surprised that there was no ac or fan in the bedroom. It got pretty warm during the 80 degree plus days. My son also scratched his leg on some carpet tacks by the front door that were sticking up. Maybe those could be looked at for the future. Over all we had a great stay and would absolutely come back! P.S. We were pleasantly surprised when we looked out to see a moose eating off of the front porch!
Great Stay in Moose Country
We had four adults spend two nights at the cabin around July 4th weekend. Easy access to all of the lakes. Outdoor fire pit was perfect for us and the firewood supply was amazing. Home was clean and perfect for what we needed it for. Murphy bed worked great for our group. Thanks so much for everything. Side note - on the first night there was a large moose about 50 feet from the front porch. Amazing to sit outside on the porch, drink a beer and watch the moose wander the neighborhood. Very cool.
