Karen Bradford purchased this studio in 2008

Why Karen Bradford chose 7th Arrondissement Eiffel Tower

Saint Germain Des Pres is one of the most prestigious areas in all of Paris. It is written that 'If you are French, you dream of living there and if you are a tourist, you hope to be able to stay there'. I absolutely love this neighborhood and I am sure that you will too! You have everything you could imagine within a walk, Metro ride, or bike ride away. True , authentic Paris at it's Best... Open air markets, numerous cafes, boulangeries, and anything else you could want or need.

What makes this studio unique

The location has got to be one of the best things about the place. Couple that with the fact that the studio has been ENTIRELY RENOVATED, from top to bottom by owners who left no stone unturned, and VOILA, your stay in Paris could not have a better starting point. In the very heart of the left bank, just around the corner from the most famous legendary café in Paris, Les Deux Magots. Exceptional location for this cute studio fully furnished. One block away from the famous Church of St Germain des Prés, Restaurant les Deux Magots, Brasserie Lipp, Café de Flore, you will discover the heart of cultural action in Paris. Night and day, the area is alive. The apartment is completely equipped. A professional sleeper with a 'real' Simmons mattress opens to create a wonderful night's rest. Open the window and be lulled to sleep by the sound of Paris.

Great place to stay in Paris

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend (now fiancé-proposed to me while on our trip in Paris) stayed at Karen's adorable apartment for 3 nights. The location couldn't have been better. The area is filled with cobblestones street and adorable cafes and stores. We walked everywhere while we were in Paris. A 5 minute walk to the Louve, 10 minute walk to the Luxembourg Garden and a 25 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. The amenities were comfortable with a new and modern bathroom, washer and dryer, internet and a really comfortable pull out couch. I have to say how impeccably clean the apartment was, something that is really important when traveling. It's a small apartment keep in mind but perfect for one or two people.

Great location in Paris

  • 5 of 5

We had a great 5-night stay at this apartment in Paris. The location is truly perfect - we were able to easily walk to many sights and the Metro is conveniently located. The neighborhood itself is beautiful, has lots of high-end shops and restaurants, and felt very safe. The apartment is located on a quiet side street with a beautiful big window. While the apartment itself is smaller than most North Americans are used to, Karen has done a great job organizing and decorating it so that you have everything you need. The sofa bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the kitchen was well-supplied. Having a washer/dryer in the unit was a big convenience for us. The wifi was excellent, and having Paris guidebooks thoughtfully placed in the apartment was very helpful. Karen and Chris were both very friendly and responsive before and during our stay. Great hosts! I would recommend this apartment for 1-2 people who are looking for a central location in Paris. Great value for the location!

A taste of life in Paris

  • 5 of 5

The location of this apartment is absolutely amazing. It's tucked neatly into a quiet side street just steps from Boulevard Saint-Germain. The check-in and check-out were a breeze. Having a washer/dryer made it possible to pack much lighter than I would have otherwise for my 1.5 weeks here. The kitchen is more than adequate for quick meals, but if you aren't inclined to cook, there are countless cafes and restaurants within a few minutes' walk. Note that this apartment is a 3rd floor walk up (no surprise in such an old city), so I would not recommend it for those with limited mobility. Aside from that, this is an amazing base for your trip to this beautiful city. Overall, this is a well-equipped flat, perfectly situated to turn your vacation in Paris into a true taste of the Parisian lifestyle. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

You Should Know Before Paying

  • 1 of 5

Those who are considering this rental and wondering what happens to their payment should anything go wrong should read this. I promise to tell the truth without exaggeration. I booked this rental studio for 9 nights in late April 2015. I had paid for nine days’ rent and security deposit before arriving. Upon arrival Chris checked out everything with me; I had no problem with any item until we got to the last item, how to lock and unlock the studio. Obviously there is something about this lock that requires special technique, as is evident from the “how to” instructions sent beforehand: “The front door lock has a SPRING inside. You must really push and turn the key until you FEEL and HEAR the spring inside the lock. Some people have a difficult time in the beginning, but just REMEMBER the SPRING inside the lock, and you must PUSH and TURN. Push and FEEL the spring inside the lock . It will become easier each time you try.”

I tried for 20 minutes, then Chris called Karen and I tried some more for perhaps another 20 minutes. Meantime, Chris did everything he could, explain in different ways, asked me to wrap the top of the key in a wash cloth, oiled the lock, gave me gloves to put on for more friction. To understand how the lock worked, I did it from the inside and could do it as it was a matter of turning right. However, doing it from the outside with that tiny clearance from the door jamb was just not possible for me. Chris watched from the inside and said I was turning everything right until just before the very end; he thought I simply did not have the thumb strength to make that last click while the lock was pushed down. At the end of 40 minutes or so, my thumb was red and sore, I was jet-lagged and hungry; Karen who was on the phone (probably in LA) had to go to a meeting, and Chris had work to do in the afternoon.

Chris helped me to go to a hotel nearby. Apparently the rental studio is not connected with any other in Paris; there was no offer to go to a sister-hotel so that my funds could be applied there. I did not stay a single night and yet my payment for 9 nights was not refunded. Only the security deposit was returned. Karen had said that if she could rent it out during the days I had booked, then she would pay me for those days booked, but that is obviously not likely due to the short notice.

Lest you imagine me as a weak and helpless elderly person, I hasten to add that I am very fit and active, walk 3-4 miles everyday, and travel often.

Owner's Response: We pride ourselves in transparency and good service. We have been renting successfully for more than eight years. None of our more than 300 guests have ever had any issue with opening the front door by simply turning the key. In fact, our guests who arrived TODAY, have opened the door and are settled in just fine. Our door is a high quality, typical Parisian door and is functioning optimally with no issue at all. This traveler is an elderly woman with physical limitations that prohibit her from turning a simple door lock. The traveler admitted to having a weak thumb and due to this weakness, was not able to turn the key. It is our opinion that traveler should have a travel companion or stay in a place that offers on site daily attention. Self Catering apartment rentals and traveling alone, at her age should be avoided for numerous reasons that we wont mention here. We carried her luggage up and down the stairs, and we also accompanied her to a Hotel after realizing that she was too weak to open the door amongst other issues. As a courtesy, we are happy to refund any rent paid should we be able to find replacement guests for any part of her confirmed dates. We turned away other guests and blocked our calendar for her stay. We do not advertise our unit as one that caters to those with physical disabilities or physical limitations. And though we do empathize with this traveler we can not accept financial responsibility for her physical limitations. Again, should we find guests for any part of her confirmed dates, then as a COURTESY, we will refund rent for those dates. We think that this traveler is a lovely lady and are quite disappointed that she was not able to stay at our beautiful studio. We did our very best to accommodate her and in the end she was simply too weak to turn the door key. The door does not take super strength to open at all, as can be attested by the more than 300 other guests who have opened the door without issue, including the current guests who opened the door in less than 1 minute. We will all age and we will all face physical challenges that come with age, we must simply take responsibility for those changes and plan travel accordingly.

Good location - very small

  • 3 of 5

Well located near multiple Metro stops, but VERY small. Kitchen is small but well appointed. The bathroom is very cramped. The main space has only enough room for an open sofabed and a set of shelves. Karen was very helpful in answering questions and supplying us with all of the information we needed. The Paris agent was very attentive. Nice shops and cafes in the area. Don't bring a lot of stuff if you plan to stay here. Best for light travelers and those who don't mind the third story climb.

Owner's Response: We provide a 2 person FULLY EQUIPPED studio in the HEART of the most EXPENSIVE DISTRICT IN ALL OF PARIS at an unheard of BUDGET RATE. We have offered this lovely FULLY RENOVATED studio to our lucky guests since 2008. We offer a full kitchen with WASHING MACHINE/DRYER, Full 4 burner LG Induction Cook Top, Full Oven large enough to bake a chicken or turkey, FULL BATHROOM with a FULL SIZED DEEP SOAKING BATH TUB and Shower, Towel Warmer, and a normal sized LIVING AREA that doubles as a SLEEP AREA at night time. The Professional QUEEN SIZE SLEEPER (160x2 meters) is amazingly comfortable and of the highest quality. However, it should be pulled out during night time and pushed in during the day so that the space can be best utilized. There is a 2 door CLOSET for storing clothing and personal effects as well as Over head shelving where empty suit cases may be stored. HOTELS in our area are more than 3 times what we charge and offer NO FREE PHONE CALLS, NO WASHING MACHINE, NO KITCHEN. As fellow Americans, we understand the mentality of BIGGER is BETTER. However, after living in France for more than 10 years and living in PARIS for more than 10 years, we have come to accept the truth, SPACE is at a premium in Paris and the Parisian’s are one of the best in the world at maximizing the use of space. We think we have done an AMAZING JOB , offering you the ability to live as a TRUE PARISIAN in the most CHIC DISTRIC in all of Paris, at a rate that is extremely reasonable. At the end of the day, there is always the GOERGES V Hotel/FOUR SEASONS , where you can have a sprawling American Sized Room, but it will cost you dearly, to the tune of about 1,200 EUROS per night. As our listing states, we offer a LUXURY LOCATION at a BUDGET RATE. It will be spotlessly clean, we will be there to PERSONALLY check you in and advise you of the best places/things to do while you are here, and we will be reachable during your stay in the event of emergency. This is our promise to you.

Nice little appartment

  • 4 of 5

It was a nice appartment, small, one room but very nice. Location is great close to metro and grocery store. Lots of restaurants nearby and even a bakery around the corner. Bed is a pullout couch but it was comfy. All the amenities were as listed and the managers were helpful and friendly and right on time. This is perfect for one or two people staying long term in Paris, like more then a week so you would need to cook and wash clothes. We enjoyed our stay, felt like home.
