Jekyll Island Studio Rental Photos and Description

Studio, Studio + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

We invite you to visit 'ALOFT.' We're located in a state park, and only 35% of Jekyll Island can be developed. We are surrounded by marshlands and the sea. Our property is situated on a quiet street, nestled between the marshlands and stately oak and pine forests. This beautiful 1000 square foot loft has a private entrance and on-site parking.

Just one minute away you'll discover the 18 miles of bike trails surrounding the island. You can bike to the fishing pier and beach and arrive in five minutes. Or, you may want to visit the Historic District, where over 300 millionaires once lived. They built homes and a Club House on our island, beginning in 1888. They typically spent 3-5 months down here yearly for the next 54 years. Their homes are being restored and many can be visited and appreciated.

We also have a world renowned Sea Turtle Center, where injured and sick turtles are flown in for surgeries and rehabilitation, and later released back to the sea. Bike toward the south and visit the Tidelands Nature Center, enjoy bird and wildlife viewing, or swim and sunbath on our 12 miles of white sand beaches. We have a seasonal Summer Waves Water Park, four famous golf courses, Red-bug Motorcar rentals, and carriage rides and trolley tours. Also, for the adventurous, scout out the hideaways of our local alligators! All this and so much more!

All activities are within minutes. Bed linens, towels and kitchen items are furnished. You bring food, toiletries and enjoy.

A 50% deposit is required for all stays and the balance is due 14 days prior to arrival. Deposit is non-refundable but may be used to change/reserve dates (pending availability) for up to one year after the original reservation date. Reservations less than 14 days prior to arrival require payment in full. A two night minimum stay is required.

"Aloft" is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in between the Jekyll Island airport and the campground. That puts us 5 to 10 minutes from the Jekyll Island beaches by car. Bicycle paths start one block from the house.

Also, you should know that "Aloft" is an open and airy unit with lots of natural light. It has a private entrance through our garage. You may hear the garage door open and close at 6:30 or so in the morning during the days of Monday through Friday as that is the time that we go to work. That has not bothered most of our guests, but we don't want that to be a surprise. Otherwise the unit is very quiet. Kitchen facilities are limited. Cooking facilities are a toaster oven, a two burner hot-plate and a microwave. The refrigerator is hotel sized.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions and if "Aloft" will work for you.

We await you at 'ALOFT' on Jekyll Island: 'Georgia's Jewel.'

About Michael Mueller

Pam and Michael Mueller have lived in coastal Georgia for ten years. They met here in 1988, while studying law enforcement at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick, GA. At that point, they made a pact that if they were to marry one day, they would return to live in the Golden Isles. Seven years later their dreams came true! Michael continues working with law enforcement, now teaching Physical Training to Homeland Security students at FLETC. Pamela has become a children's author. She has written eight award-winning books and will release her first adult book in 2010. The Muellers bought a home with an 'undeveloped' loft and decided to refurbish it and turn it into a rental unit. This has turned into a delightful abode, and they very much enjoy sharing their little piece of paradise with others.

Michael Mueller purchased this studio in 2009

Why Michael Mueller chose Coastal Georgia

We remodeled the loft of our residence for our frequent guests and visiting family. When it is not occupied, we wanted to rent it out and share the magic of Jekyll Island with others who yearn to spend their free time in 'splendid paradise,' which incidentally, is the title of Pamela's new book and tells the story of Jekyll Island.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Today was one of the most beautiful days we can remember. We saw the most beautiful birds (painted buntings) that we have wanted to see for a very long time. The beauty of Jekyll Island is like none other! Your home and "Aloft" is awesome!! I assure you, we will be back! Thank you for providing such a wonderful space to decompress.

Adorable loft

  • 5 of 5

Pamela and Mike were lovely hosts. We had an absolutely amazing weekend. Aloft is perfect for a couple or maybe a couple +1. The loft is spacious, private and provides for all your basic needs. Bikes available to guests are great! We really enjoyed biking around the island. We also enjoyed visiting with Morgan the cat. What a sweetie!

We enjoyed Aloft a lot!

  • 5 of 5

Aloft was the quintessential VRBO. Mike and Pam were there to greet us when my wife and I arrived. Pam showed us the unit and explained all of the amenities to us. She even gave us a gift basket that included a hand-written note! Pam and Mike were both friendly and very accommodating throughout our stay. At the same time, they respected our privacy and weren't overbearing in any way.

As for the space itself, well, there was lots of it! There's more than enough space to spread out and make yourself at home. The kitchenette worked out perfectly, and we enjoyed the deck space off the unit. The place was cozy and homey, and it definitely has a lot of character.

Aloft is located only a mile or so from the historic part of Jekyll Island. It's a short drive (or bike ride) to the beaches, as well. We really enjoyed our time on the island! Everyone we encountered was very friendly. We were grateful that the island suffered relatively minor damage due to Hurricane Matthew and that we were able to stay at Aloft only one week later.

We highly recommend Aloft to anyone planning a getaway to Jekyll Island!

Great place to relax while exploring the island!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent 3 nights in Jekyll. We enjoyed our stay at Aloft. It is larger than what our imaginations had pictured. Much more room than a standard hotel room. It was a perfect "home base" for us while we explored the island. I even used the kitchen to cook one meal which was nice. It just took a little more time and creativity than using a standard kitchen. Aloft felt private enough that I didn't worry we were too loud or intrusive, hopefully that is the case. We did use the porch area often in the morning and evening.. A little too hot during the day. As stated by the owners we did hear the garage door each morning but I was usually awake and my partner slept right through it. It wasn't a problem for us. We used the bikes that are provided which was one of the highlights of our trip. We can't wait to get back to Jeckyll and spend more time. There was so much we didn't get to do in our short stay! I miss the great seafood already! As suggested by the owners, Driftwood Bistro was delicious and probably my favorite meal!

Great place for a quiet get-a-way

  • 5 of 5

My mother and I enjoyed staying at "Aloft." The atmosphere was soothing and relaxing. We slept so good. I don't know if I can ever stay at another hotel after this. We enjoyed looking at your books and memorabilia around the room. We dined at the Driftwood and had such a great meal the first night , that we went back the second night. I live in a fast-paced city, that the quiet on the beach was great for us. I am looking forward to another vacation in Spetember. This time with my husband. Thank you for opening your home to us.

Loved our weekend at "Aloft!"

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a private place to stay during your visit to Jekyll Island, "Aloft" is the place! "Aloft" is spacious and quaint, with all the amenities you could wish for, including bicycles for guest use. The hosts were amazing from the time of booking, sending helpful directions and tips for sights and dining on the island. The welcome basket was an especially sweet gesture! Highly recommended!

Fabulous place to stay on Jekyll Island

  • 5 of 5

Aloft is a charming get-away place, perfect, especially, for one person or a couple. The Muellers could not have been more attentive as hosts at this island sanctuary, and I would return again and again. The historic district is nearby, bikes are provided, and the jewel of a beach is just a short stroll or pedal away. I liked the fun furnishings and cozy environment, as well as the options that Aloft offers. For example, I tended to eat out but enjoyed b'fast on a little deck nestled in the trees one morning.

Five minutes from Jekyll Island Historic District. For 54 years, from the Gilded Age to WWII, Jekyll Island was the second home to more than 300 Millionaires, who spent 3-5 months in their 'cottages' here. Their homes have been restored and offer an amazing glimpse into the past.
