Great home with spectacular view
This home exceeded expectations in virtually every way. The first item of note was the private location and spectacular lake view. Perfect. Just what we were after.
The home itself had a great layout with plenty of space for our group of 12 adults and 4 kids to visit together but also to find quiet, private space as well. The place is huge and could easily have accommodated a much larger group. There is a fully private (attached) apartment with it's own entrance, kitchen, bathroom, etc., which worked out great for the winner of that rock-paper-scissor.
The home was clean, well maintained and well stocked with the essentials - towels, linens, dishes coffee makers, vacuum, etc. The game room was a hit with a pinball machine, ping pong, foosbal and more. Decor had an appropriately outdoor theme and was comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit, which was used every night.
The property manager was easy to work with and helpful.
No complaints whatsoever. It was a great family reunion. I highly recommend this property.
I have been at this house twice. Once in the summer and now in the winter. The views are still thrilling, the house is clean and well maintained, and fresh linens and sheets are provided once at the beginning of the stay. The house is very large and roomy. Overall a very good experience. Well worth the cost especially when you consider how many people can comfortably sleep and eat. The cost actually comes out less than the local hotels we priced. The is house is almost always booked so my advice is to book asap. We have already booked in advance for months from now. The owners are sticklers however, for family and respectful groups only. This house is very well maintained and I guess they want to keep it that way. This house is "as advertised" and we were very unhappy to leave although this stay was just a long weekend. Wonderful place for large family gathering!
We rented this house New Year's week and couldn't have been happier with it. I was worried based on some of the reviews that it was not being kept up properly, but when we arrived I was delighted to find it was clean, well-stocked, and in good repair. Any unit that is rented full time is going to have some minor issues, like blind pulls that don't work as expected or a kitchen cabinet door that needs screws tightened. But I would say as a frequent renter that this house, especially for its size, had fewer such issues than I'd expect. The kids absolutely loved the game room (especially the pinball machine and the big flat screen TV where they set up the WiiU) and the adults loved the spacious great room. We were able to get 24 into the dining room one evening, which was both cozy and fun. The kitchen is beautifully stocked (and labeled!), and I certainly appreciated that there was soap and toilet paper in all the bathrooms and even laundry and dish soap on hand. There was plenty of hot water, which was delightful given the large number of bathrooms (and yes, owners, we did do our best to conserve).
I had wished before arriving that there were pictures of each bedroom on the site, so I will briefly describe them. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs: the master suite (K), which is quite large with a non-operational Jacuzzi; a second king suite; a bedroom with a queen and a twin that has its own small loft, where we were able to set up an air mattress for a teen who begged to sleep up there; and a "kids room" with 4 twins, a toddler bed, and a full bath. There is an office that adjoins the master bath area that also has a pullout sofa. Three of these bedrooms have roll-away cots in the closets. On the first floor there is a queen bedroom with en suite bath and a den with a pullout couch and an ottoman that unfolds to a twin. We had to mix and match the generally well-marked extra linens in the closets to get those beds made up, but there were plenty of blankets and such around. In the basement there are 2 bedrooms: one with a full size bed and en suite bath, and another with a queen and a twin. There is a lovely ground-level apartment with a king bedroom, cozy living room, and full kitchen and laundry that has its own entrance from the driveway.
The beds and linens were all of high quality. Furnishings are durable, and the lodge decor favors antlers and country charm. The tennis court is in fabulous shape! Overall, a wonderful experience and lovely house!
Wish we could stay longer!
This is our 2nd time staying at this wonderful home. Both times we've left wishing we could have stayed longer.
This has become our Thanksgiving tradition, getting siblings, parents, cousins, grandchildren, and friends together for the week. Despite the number of people, the house is tremendously comfortable and accommodating. Everyone loves it. There is plenty of space to enjoy time together or quietly alone. It is well equipped. Multiple kitchens with everything you need, down to spices galore. Outdoor tennis court, basketball, and shuffle board...and all the equipment. Nice TV's everywhere, including a large selection of existing movies. And the scenery is outstanding.
I wish we could stay longer. We will be back!
Loved this house
Loved this house. We were a party of 20. Three proud generations. This house was great and "as advertised." Even the weather cooperated. The views are breathtaking, the house is clean and cheerful, and we enjoyed every minute. Very happy with this choice. You will be too!
Didn't meet expectations
Booked this house in order to hold a casual sales meeting. I needed a house that had plenty of bedrooms and give us room to relax. The house is large and is on a beautiful lot on the lake. However, that's were the satisfaction ended. From the moment I booked with the realtor, the process was slow and unresponsive. I had to contact the realtor via email and had to wait several days for a response. Tired of waiting for a response on one matter, I called him and he told me that he prefers email and not talking on the phone. I had to press him to stay on the phone and answer a few basic questions. After all the checks were hand delivered to his office I never received any confirmation or contact from him until two business days prior to our arrival. I called him and he told me to call him 30 minutes to my arrival at the house and he would meet me there. The day of the arrival, I called as instructed, and he told me that he wasn't going to be able to meet me at the house and gave me the electronic key code to enter the house. Also, after waiting over two weeks after the rental, I had to contact the realtor in order to get my security deposit refunded. After waiting three days, I got a response apologizing for the delay and I received the check three days later. I never once got a call to check on our satisfaction during or after the stay. Arriving at the house,it looking dated and worn. The sliding screen door was off and along side the house. I texted a picture to the realtor immediately because I didn't want to be accused of the damage. The grill cover was in a ball on the deck. Screens on the screened in portion of the deck were ripped. For a rental that was expensive for 3 nights, this certainly wasn't what I expected. The game room which shows, air hockey, juke box, skee ball, and pinball were all inoperable. In the "welcome book", it stated that "some of the machines in the game room may not work, because of prior guests." Really? I paying a lot of money to enjoy the amenities of this house and you aren't going to fix anything that breaks. The lakeside exterior is weathered and the deck needs power washing. The tile kitchen floor has cracks. The reviews stating the amenities are of the highest caliber are questionable. The house has a whole house stereo system, make sure your bring your cassettes and if you enjoy the colored bathrooms of the 80's this place is for you. Next time I will go for quality not size.
I am sorry you seemed unhappy with the house during your stay. The external walls are natural cedar and the goal is for them to weather naturally here in the Pocono Mountains. All the bathrooms and kitchen, were upgraded just five-years ago to granite and new appliances, but the some of the bathroom appliance colors were purposely left as period colors by the decorators. I know of no crack in the kitchen floor tile. The antique pinball and jukebox became no longer serviceable and now have been replaced with new, top of the line machines, and pinball can play over twenty different version. I give out my cell phone number so any renter can call me 24/7. There is even a back up caretaker who can be called 24/7 as well, plainly listed in the Welcome Book. I work for the largest Realty Company in the area, Chant Realtors, and if I could not help you, someone at the firm always can be contacted. It is so I could not meet you at the house the day of your arrival because of a personal matter but I arranged entry to you at the proper check in time. As it states in the Rental Contract, Security Deposit will be payable back to the renter within twenty days. You received full reimbursement within this stated time period. Again, I am sorry you were dissatisfied.
