A bit overdue on the review but we just wanted to reiterate what other reviewers have stated and that we had a wonderful time at this house. It was better than the pictures, very clean, modern, well stocked - fully functional kitchen & paper products provided (they even had produce wash!). The only thing you really need to bring is shampoo & bodywash. There's a 2 car garage and nice deck with lounge and dining furniture. We wish we could have spent more time on the deck but we visited during a heat wave. We did see some horses out in the pasture beyond this property. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom upstairs. The main floor has a study/office room that has a pull out sofa which can be used as an enclosed 3rd bedroom and a bathroom. There's a kitchen area and then 2 living areas for relaxing in. The basement contains the washer/dryer. We were there during a heat wave and the AC worked really well - if you're in the 2nd bedroom upstairs you need to shift the bed over a bit since the AC vent is being blocked by one of the twin beds (there are also ceiling fans in both upstairs bedrooms). Great base for exploring the area - we were mainly there to visit Longwood gardens. The house is not far from the major highway so it was very easy to get around yet still felt very serene. Short drive away are Kennett Square (check out Talula's Table / Nomadic pies for take away on days you don't feel like cooking). Groceries/big box stores are within close distance. Enjoyed stocking up on mushrooms to cook at home (mushroom capital of the world!) and wine tasting (overpriced for quality IMO but still fun). Very easy to get in touch with owner's representative via email or by phone (faster response) prior to booking. There are contact numbers and some instructions once you get there and it was always easy to get in touch with them by phone during our stay. Only con would be that they don't use paypal for booking so you will need to mail in a check/money order. Would recommend this property for those planning to visit this area.
We have stayed at about a dozen or so VRBO homes. This would have to ranked in the top two.The property was the cleanest we have encountered. We stayed a week and hated to leave! It is an easy day trip to Baltimore ( we saw the aquarium), Dover De ( we saw the nascar race and the casino), and to Philadelphia. We planned on seeing all the US Constitution related sites in Philly but the US Govt was shut down.It is a great central location. The property is in a country setting, very quiet and comfortable. It would also be a great place to take an armload of books and just settle for a while.Amish country is just over the hill and thats where we bought our fresh veggies, fruit and baked goods. You will be happy if this is your choice.
We moved to Houston last year and came back to PA for a visit in June. We have 3 small children (4,2,1) and wanted to stay in a place where we felt comfortable and not like we were stepping on any toes. This house was amazing and beautiful and we loved it. The two older boys slept in the room upstairs and the youngest slept in his pack 'n' play in the office downstairs. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed/may have needed. The deck and outdoor space was beautiful and worked perfectly for a family/friends bbq we had one night. Everyone had a great time. This house had everything we needed/wanted to make it feel like it was ours for the week and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We'll definitely be looking to stay here again when we visit home!
We stayed at this house for an annual girls weekend getaway. It was absolutely perfect. The house was just as described and very clean. The deck was just as I pictured after viewing the listing, a great place to sit and relax. It was conveniently located to Longwood Gardens as well as not too far from West Chester where we went for dinner (Iron Hill Brewery). The location is perfect because of the tranquility, yet shops/restaurants are nearby. I would definitely stay here again.
Our family stayed here during a week long visit to the Philadelphia/West Chester area the first week of July and had a wonderful time! The cottage is in a peaceful area out in the country but is close enough to so many sightseeing areas. We have four kids ages 6-12 and the house had plenty of room to spare. The kids loved playing in the back field during the evenings. We highly recommend this great vacation rental home. We hope to return on our next visit to the area.
We enjoyed your home last week. The property is perfect for either short term or long term rental. Everything was really clean and neat. Nothing could be changed to make it better. The deer visited us in the evenings and the guineas (sp) visited in the morning. Perfect rural settiing with the large patio and huge back yard. Thanks for making this property available via VRBO.
