Southwestern Colorado Cabin Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom cabin with loft. Sleeps up to 8 people

Please do not rely on the instant quote as they are typically not accurate... Ask about our reduced rate on three month leases.

Our cabin is situated in a quiet peaceful farm setting 3 miles north of Cortez. We have 360 degree views of mountain ranges, the mesas and Sleeping Ute Mountain- and we will share with you the legend of the Sleeping Ute, and the valley. At night the stars seem so close that you can touch them.

We are CENTRALLY located to all of the south-west/four corners area attractions. You can play all day and come home to your home away from home. Enjoy the lovely evenings on your porch with your favorite drink. (BYOB).

Moab is just a 2 hour drive from us, as is Monument Valley. Durango is a beautiful, quick 45 minutes away and don't forget to not only see but ride on the Silverton Train. The seventy minute drive to Telluride is absolutely gorgeous and in the winter you can ski all day and come home to your warm comfy cabin and enjoy evening festivities here. What a treat!

The cabin is a nice 1 bedroom/1 bath with a very large loft. The kitchen has a microwave, stove, oven, frig, coffee maker and toaster, as well as your dishes, pans, utensils etc. Opposite the kitchen area is the cheerful dining table with the bay window. There is a flat screen TV with DISH and channels for everyone.

Perfect for extended stay for work assignments. Great rates!

Laundry facilities on site.

About Vince Ragsdale

This is a family owned farm. We enjoy housing people from all over the world traveling to see the sites in this beautiful part of the country. Ellen moved here from Southern California in the late 1980's to settle down. Being a business owner all her life she added cabins to house travelers and to meet people from all over the country. Now her son (Vince) is taking over the business part of things but Ellen will still greet you upon arrival. We hope you enjoy your stay.

Vince Ragsdale purchased this cabin in 1988

Why Vince Ragsdale chose Southwestern Colorado

Upon moving to Cortez we wanted to do something for the community. I found there was a need in housing visitors and temporary workers. The area is most unique in that it lends itself to a calming, relaxing atmosphere. It also has the most breath taking views in all of Cortez area.

What makes this cabin unique

You not only get a relaxing place to stay but you get to enjoy the 360 degree view of the La Plata Mountains. the Mesa Verde and the legend of the Sleeping Ute Mt. You can see a sky full of stars and the moon you can reach out and touch. Along with that you have a great porch to sit and relax and even enjoy a BBQ if you so desire. We produce the best lamb that you have EVER tasted. Upon request we can provide you with lamb. We are so tranquil out here, yet only five minutes from downtown Cortez with their variety of dining, shopping and Culture Center.

Great place - second visit to the Jolly Rancher

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the Jolly Rancher. We stayed in May of 2015 and again in September, 2015. The cabin is very clean and exactly as advertised. We travel with two small dogs and they are welcomed in the cabin. We booked through VRBO and the owners were very quick to respond. I would highly recommend staying at the Jolly Rancher.

“Love the Jolly Rancher!”

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the Jolly Rancher. It's a super location for venturing out to Mesa Verde, Dolores, Telluride, Mancos, Durango, Silverton and of course Cortez. The San Juans are one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Colorado. We especially enjoy the Cortez Recreation Center and the Indoor Pool. Also there is a Municipal Pool that is outdoors. The family that owns the JR is wonderful and treats you like family!

Great break from corporate motels!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful two-night stay! The owner was very friendly, and took the extra effort to contact us and coordinate for our arrival time. The facilities are very clean and as advertised. We were just coming off of several nights in corporate motels, and it was so nice to be able to stretch out and cook our own dinner.

Perfect Place in Cortez

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in one of the cottages this weekend and it was amazing! So close to Cortez and Mesa Verde. Also less than 10 minutes to the mountain bike ride Phil's World which was amazing! The kitchen had everything you needed in it which was great to wake up and make breakfast and dinner at night. The bed was so comfy too and everything was so clean. Debbie was so nice too! She was very responsive to any needs we had. We also booked last minute and she was so accommodating! We loved staying there and if we are ever back in southwest Colorado we will be sure to stay again! Thank you!!

my stay

  • 5 of 5

I arrived in Cortez, Colrado back in August 2011...I am a travel nurse so I never know what the places look like before arriving. When I first arrived it was late and I actually thought I had the wrong address....Neverless it was the right one. I have been here since, and have truely enjoyed being here, Ellen and Harvey are the best, you feel very welcomed and its like my second home. The place is gorgeous, spacious and quiet. Not far from many attractions, from zip lines to sking, Indian dances and more. I bring my dog with me when I travel and its not a problem, he even gets to play outside with Pier`. The park is less than 3 miles away and he enjoys walking when its warm enough..Just want to thank them for being so hospitable during my stay...hoping to stay many more months

Lots of Memories!

  • 5 of 5

We were staying in Dolores along the river, but had to move. I was happy to find the Jolly Rancher on its pristine 15 acre ranch. The owners made us feel very much at home. It is a wonderful location with incredible views. It was great for our travels to Durango, Silverton, Telluride, and Dolores. Cortez is just down the road a few miles for groceries and shopping. Don't miss the recreation center with the incredible indoor swimming pool and facilities. Thanks JR!
