Peaceful Location, Well Appointed, Great Service

  • 5 of 5

The owners were very accessible during the booking and that continued with the manager, Jay, who met us at the airport, took us to the rental car (use Jurgen, he's wonderful!), then led us to Beso Del Caribe (which is WAY off the beaten track, east of Isabel Segunda). Jay's scribblings on our map about where to eat and shop weren't helpful, but we managed fine.

The property has gorgeous views over the ocean north of Vieques, and is very private, up a steep drive that only leads to other homes. The house is a four-plex: one unit has permanent residences, the other three are rentals. We heard NO noise from the other spaces. The deck outside our unit is private, only for that unit, and was great for morning coffee or sitting on the lounges in the afternoon sun, when we weren't at the beach.

It's about 10 minutes into the center of Isabel Segunda, where we found a couple of good places to eat, but about 20-25 minutes from the south side of the island, where the really good beaches are and better restaurants.

Beso del Caribe is really well appointed--wonderful place to cook and hang out. Virtually every appliance we needed was there. Lots of stock items from previous renters (and the owners), unlike many VRBO places, which clean out that stuff after every tenant. Jay had even bought a small bag of ground coffee to get us started.

Lots of towels, both bath and beach, soap, toilet paper, etc. The dryer is tricky, but works fine after you figure it out. We used the bedroom air conditioner a couple of nights, but generally we just opened the windows and enjoyed the breeze. We had NO mosquitoes, thankfully, in early February. WiFi worked great, another bonus. The refrigerator kept blowing the circuit breakers the first day, but on Monday Jay had a repairman in to replace the breaker and it was fine the rest of the week--such good customer service--thanks!!

Beds are comfortable, nice sheets, great pillows. We didn't realize how good all this was until our second week on Puerto Rico, when the property didn't have ANY of this stuff.

If, like us, you are looking at several similar properties to rent, the price for Beso is very competitive and well worth it.

This was our first time on Vieques and the property just couldn't have been much nicer. We spent most of our days on the southside, so if we could have transplanted Beso there, that would have made it perfect. Otherwise--thanks Lori, Pat, and Jay, for a great place and great experience.

Just as pictured! Clean and very comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was everything we were looking for it to be! Although our plane did not arrive until after 8:00pm, Jay, the property manager, was very attentive in meeting us and orienting us to the villa and island. He had great tips for our stay that I am sure enhanced our stay more than I can imagine. Also, Pat and Lori were great to work with. They were quick to respond to my inquiry to stay and any other questions we had regarding the process. They also had this great notebook compiled with information regarding Vieques and it's attractions.

The villa itself was very clean and comfortable. It was very charming and we loved it. It is very well stocked with all you would need for cooking. Better than any other rental I have stayed in. All the pots, pans, baking pans, and cooking utensils you could need. It even had a blender.

Just down the hill from the villa was a beach. While we never swam here it was nice to walk along during the evenings. We also had a wonderful view of the Atlantic from the villa. After becoming accustomed to the climate, we slept with the windows wide. It was great hearing the ocean and frogs chirp as you fell asleep.

We enjoyed the laid back beach life. We spent our days exploring Isabel, Esperanza, and the various beaches. Must do's include the biobay tour with Abe's, snorkeling, a visit to the Spanish Fort, and dinner at El Quenepo. Be sure to try the monfongo there, it was the best!

Other interesting parts of our stay were the local horses and friendly neighborhood dogs. We found them all sweet to watch and visit with. The roads to many of the beaches are as bad as some say they are. We were just cautious and had no problems. One day my husband did help another visitor get their jeep 4x4 unstuck in a huge water filled hole out by Green beach. We had a jeep liberty, not 4x4, and did not feel it hindered our experience at all. We rented from Abreeze car rental. Highly recommend him!

Worst part of the stay was leaving! I would definitely stay here again and would love to bring the kids!

AMAZING vacation rental!!!

  • 5 of 5

Beso Del Caribe was everything and more than I was hoping for! First of all, the owners were very responsive to all my questions, and made some great recommendations. The property manager, Jay, was also responsive and was instrumental in making our travel plans better. He recommended Vieques Air Link for flying from the main island instead of using the ferry as the ferry has been unreliable as of late. I checked this out and thought the price quoted on-line was the price per ticket which we could not afford. I contacted Jay and he explained that it was the total price for 3 round trip tickets. Still more expensive than ferry, but way more efficient and worth the additional expense. He also recommended local activities and showed us around the town so we knew where all necessities were located.

We are not into crowds and can't afford expensive hotels and Beso was the perfect choice. It is located in on a hill and although there are other units in the same building, it is set up so that this unit is very private. It was very clean and the view was beautiful! The best part are the beds that are to die for! Never slept in a more comfortable bed! The shower is huge, the kitchen perfect for vacation and completely stocked and the lanai is great for outside dinner and sunsets or sunrises. We ate out for only one meal and had everything needed for cooking. They have plenty of snorkeling gear, beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, etc. The beaches are all on the other side of the island, but it is only a 15 minute drive and very scenic, so we loved staying on this side. Much more private than the South side.

The only negative in my eyes is that air conditioners are only in the bedrooms (which is completely normal on the island) and it gets hot during the daytime and into the eves, but once the wind blows through and the ceiling fan is on, it cools down some. But I can't complain because it has air conditioning, and not all rentals do.

We loved the beaches and it was so relaxing coming home to Beso each evening! We hope to visit again and will definitely stay at Beso again!!! I would definitely recommend it to anyone!!

Beautiful and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We recently visited Vieques for our 5 year anniversary and were not disappointed. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, and they have everything you would need for the beach available. It was a very quiet area of the island, and you could sip your morning coffee in bed watching the ocean. Communication with the owners and property manager were always easy and quick. You definitely need a vehicle to get around though. Highly recommend if you want a getaway away from other island traffic!

A Wonderful Week in Vieques

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to share a Caribbean vacation experience with our grandchildren and selected Vieques Puerto Rico because it sounded like the sort of place we enjoy- laid back, relaxed, no cruise ships or tourist traps.

Casa del Caribe was perfect for us. It is located in a quiet safe neighborhood, has remarkable views and was very well equipped.

We loved the neighborhood dogs who stopped by for a visit on the deck. It was wonderful to see horses everywhere and to take in Vieques and smile.

Magical Island of Vieques.

  • 4 of 5

This rental met all of our needs. It has a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a relaxed atmosphere. The views from the deck are beautiful. Our grandchildren enjoyed seeing the wild horses and we all fell in love with the neighbors' dogs who chose to hang out on the deck.

The property manager, Jay, was responsive to any concerns, including our rental car that decided to pack it in. Jay managed to get us another car by the next morning.

This island is great for a relaxed vacation- no cruise ships, quiet beaches, just a lovely place to visit.

Car: recommended

Beso del Caribe is in a nice, safe neighborhood in Barrio Villa Borinquen just a very short walk to a protected beach. It is a great location for a quiet stroll, hunting for shells and sea glass, snorkeling, swimming or kayaking. Best yet...take a car to the many fabulous beaches on the island and you can enjoy sunbathing, body surfing, boogie boarding, swimming, snorkeling, diving, and other water activities. Vieques has several fabulous restaurants to choose from, including the newly opened W Resort. You may opt to fill your day with a massage, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking or sailing.
