This private property is perfect for the equestrian and the non-equestrian. Join us on a ride to the beach, on your horse or ours and enjoy the sunset. We offer care for your horses while you visit. Take rides under beautiful moss-draped trees in the old plantation where Forest Gump was filmed. Our farm was voted 'Best Of Beaufort' and featured on RFD-TV on the Julie Goodnight Show.
Ask about our horses used in a Robert Redford movie!
We are not just for the equestrian: wonderful beaches, shopping, tours, and all the activities of downtown Beaufort await you.
We are also located less than one half hour from Paris Island for military families wishing to add some additional memories to a graduation ceremony, or who just need the convenience of three bedrooms,a kitchen and multiple baths, etc.
The Low Country of South Carolina is a beautiful area to visit. Many areas of interest and the City of Beaufort offer many festivals during the year. There is something to entertain everyone, of all ages. Hunting Island State Park is located five minutes from our farm and is the perfect beach to enjoy the Atlantic ocean with a good book. In the winter months the park opens it's beaches to horses. Beautiful miles of beaches to ride: A horse person's dream!
We also have the 'little beach' which is a 10-15 min. walk from the cottage or hop on the golf car (call 843-524-6502 for rental information) and get there in a jiffy! Either way, You are sure to enjoy your almost private beach!
We know that time off from your regular life is important and we promise to give you the best experience for a reasonable price.

This vacation spot is not only for horse people but also for anyone looking for a private spot to stay while visiting the Low Country of South Carolina. Beaufort SC, is a charming city and the area is full of attractions: golfing, fishing, boating, and horseback riding just to mention a few. The property is on our working horse farm with miles of trails and roads for riding to the beach. You may bring your own horse or ride one of our calm mounts. We can also arrange kayaking, dolphin watching, sightseeing, buggy rides, historical tours or plantation trail rides around the Beaufort area.
Relaxed atmosphere and wonderful property to walk and enjoy scenery. Great location for nearby attractions.
We have stayed at the Saddle Pad several times in the past and always enjoyed our vacation.
This time we were surpised that there was a pass for the State Park; nice litte bonus!!
I think the lock at the door is gettig worn out, we had difficuly at times to unlock the door. Also, there was no TP anywhere in the house.
Living on our sailboat doesn't allow for many overnight guests; so, this spacious 3 bedroom/2 bath double-wide was perfect to spend the weekend together!
Instead of renting a golf cart, we brought our bicycles. We toured Camelot Farms horse ranch & the Spanish Moss laden neighborhood (straight out of Forrest Gump). Although not yet "beach" weather, it's less than 5 miles from Hunting Island State Park. (A park pass is included for your use.) Plenty to do in nearby Port Royal & Beaufort~
Wow, what an absolutely beautiful Halloween weekend! We stayed at the Saddle Pad with our 11 year old daughter.
The cottage was warm and welcoming. We loved the horse bedding as well as the entire horse theme they had in the cottage. We'd love to know where to purchase the bedding especially! My daughter would love it for her room at home!
They had nice sized paddocks for the horses, and we really loved that they were right next to the cottage where we could check up on the horses. It was really nice having them that close.
Anne and Mark were very accommodating, even cleaning the house when the maid did not show prior to our arrival. We appreciated how they were available to help, if needed, and how they did not mind going above and beyond for their guests.
This is the first time our daughter has taken her Pinto pony to the beach, and she had the BEST time! We enjoyed having the opportunity to walk to the beach any time we wanted on our horses. Thursday night we timed it just right as the sun was setting on the way back.
Friday we rode to the beach again and then took the trails around Camelot Farms. That evening, we went into Beaufort for a haunted carriage ride put on by CAPA. We highly recommend this. They were dressed in costumes as ghost stories for the Beaufort area were told, and on the streets different characters would startle us as they told their version of the story or appeared at just the right time during our tour. This was the BEST ghost tour we've ever been on, and we've been on several in the Charleston area.
Saturday we took the dirt roads that lead to the plantation house, and we had a really nice ride together. The people we encountered along the way were friendly and respectful to us on our horses.
While we were there, we visited the Old Sheldon Church Ruins as well as The Chapel of Ease. That was a really cool backdrop for our Halloween pictures, too! We took our daughter trick-or-treating at the Hunting Island State park, which she loved!
We had three beautifully amazing days on horseback! We loved that we could vacation as a family and take our horses with us! We hated to check out Sunday morning!
We thoroughly enjoyed the entire long weekend and look forward to returning soon!

My 7 year old granddaughters are in love with this place so we are sure to be back soon. Even though weather prevented them from riding today, they had so much fun just petting the lovely horses and learning about them. The house is charming with plenty of room for all. Everyone at Camelot Farms was so nice and accomodating and the horses are beautiful and very well cared for. We had a peaceful low-tech weekend in the country and can't wait to do it again!
May 30 through June 5, my son, his wife, their two children, their Nanal, and my husband and I spent the week staying in the cottage at Camelot Ranch. We had the most relaxing vacation we have had in years. We leisurely slept late each morning. So quiet and peaceful. We fixed breakfast together each morning. We went for a morning ride about 10:30 a.m. and rode for two hours. We would return and fix lunch together and then head to the private beach, Hunting Island Beach, and even went to horse Island to see the wild horses, or went sight seeing in Beaufort or to the Coffin Mansion where Forest Gump was filmed. We would eat out for supper or come back and grill out on the deck. It was so relaxing not feeling rushed to do anything. We would evening ride our horses and enjoy the sunset on the beach while the horses ventured out farther and farther into the water each time we rode the beach. It was so beautiful and relaxing we look forward to coming again.
The cottage is decorated with antiques, charming art work, rooms are clean and the beds are so very comfortable. The kitchen is furnished with just about anything you might need except a large pot for cooking crab legs or corn on the cob. We bought a pot for that since we love cooking together. Sheets, Blanket, Trash bags, toilet paper, dish washing liquid, laundry detergent, paper towels, charcoal for the grill and even lighter fluid was provided. There are some seasoning, salt, and pepper provided. We have vacationed many times, but we have never been provided with so much. Mark saw to it that anything we needed was provided immediately.
You are ask to clean up or cover with sand any droppings from your horses, but they even offered to go do this for us if we came back and told them we needed assistance. We kept the grazing pins clean that were provided for our horses right next to the cottage, but they offered to come and suck up any horse dropping with a sucking machine. We took hay and grain, but that is also available if you run out or do not have the room to haul these items. There are two different feed stores close by on your way to Beaufort, S.C. There are restaurants that are close and a wonderful seafood market where you can buy the catches of the day if you prefer to cook your own as we did several times. You will have to buy your groceries in Beaufort which is 20 to 30 minutes away from the cottage. We highly recommend Camelot Farms.
