This upscale, elegant, spacious home is perfect to enjoy all the Monterey Bay has to offer. With a great open floor plan, the beach house is conveniently located on scenic West Cliff Drive, the jewel of Santa Cruz. Beach House is close to everything, half way between the Wharf and Natural Bridges State Park and has 180' views of the Monterey Bay. You can watch the surfers at Mitchell's Cove while you lounge on your private deck.

Enter on first floor where you will find 3 bedrooms: bedroom 1 with full/double bed, bedroom 2 with 2 twin beds and walk out slider onto rear deck, bedroom 3 with new top of the line queen mattress and a bonus room with a queen sofa/sleeper and bath. The laundry room has a front loading washer/dryer for your convenience. Elegant full bath downstairs is roomy and beautiful.

The back yard is fenced with a very nice large deck and authentic bocce court.

Go upstairs and the spectacular view afforded by the open floor plan provides views galore. Floor to ceiling windows look out at the Bay where you can watch the whales go south in the fall and north in the spring with their calves. Step out on the deck and watch dolphins play in the surf. Otters and sea lions play and feed in the kelp beds right across the street.

Upstairs master bedroom suite and bath are very elegant. Luxury queen bed with wall mounted HDTV 32' LCD TV to catch your favorite show while you drift off to sleep. The elegant master bath has a fantastic walk in shower, his/her sinks and lots of room.

The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, pots/pans/cookware and all the cooking gadgets you need. You can celebrate, entertain and cook till you heart's content. Everything you need to prepare that special celebration dinner or your family's evening meals is right there.

The living room has comfortable seating for the family with beautiful designer sofas that are 'Chameleon' sofa/twin beds. They are wonderful! Enjoy the 32' HDTV/wall mounted LCD TV/DVD player or just relax to the gentle sounds of the surf. The dining room seats up to 10 people in comfort and style with custom built-in bench and cushions. Located just off the deck, the dining area has great ocean views.

The deck has seating so you can watch the beautiful sunsets while enjoying a glass of wine or dinner outside.

Right down the street toward the east is the Wharf, the Boardwalk and Downtown Santa Cruz. Right down the street to the west is Mitchell's Cove, Natural Bridges State Park and Long Marine Lab.

Beaches: Two beaches are within walking distance. The beach at Mitchell's Cove is visible from the deck of the property and it is about 200 yards to the stairs. Main Beach, Wharf & Boardwalk are about 8 blocks away.

Bring binoculars to watch the otters, dolphins, whales and shore birds from the balcony.

Jackets are needed in the evening all year round in Santa Cruz.

Parking: The maximum number of vehicles is six(6) - two in the garage and 2 on the driveway. Overnight on-street parallel parking is allowed. Guests parked in the parking spaces across the street during daylight hours are reminded to move cars to on-street parallel parking in front of the house overnight because overnight parking in the spaces across the street is prohibited.

What makes this house unique

Watching the ocean is mesmerizing. Whales, dolphin and sea otters are a daily occurrence. This is a spectacular and special place to recharge.

Great Vacation Home!

The property was clean and well-maintained. It was more spacious than appeared in the photos, particularly in the living room/dining room space. The master bedroom is also huge. Great location! We sat in the living room or on the deck and enjoyed not only the view of the water, but of whales and dolphins and otters.

The only negative was the sofa sleeper in the bonus room, which was really not usable due to how uncomfortable it was. We ended up taking the mattress off the sofa and placing it on the floor for a more comfortable night's sleep.

We did sleep 12 comfortably -- with the exception of the sofa sleeper as noted above -- just as advertised.

We found the property owner to be very accommodating. There was a minor electrical issue while we were there, and we found him accessible and responsive -- he sent a handyman and the problem was repaired.

We look forward to returning to the property again for our next vacation.

958 W. Cliff Dr. vacation rental

We rented this property in Santa Cruz after a wonderful wedding weekend celebration in Ben Lomond. It was an opportunity to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the ocean and this lovely house that is right across the street from the ocean. The mother in law house in the back was a nice addition to this rental. The house is very spacious, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths plus the unit in the back. We sat on the deck in the late afternoons when the wind had subsided and enjoyed many meals outside.

Our only recommendation would be to add a barbecue to this house.

Great location!!

We stayed in this house for New Years with 9 people and 2 guests visiting frequently. It was very comfortable for that many people, clean, and in a great location between the Pier and Natural Bridges State Park. Perfect for families, teenagers, women's trip, or couples getting away. Kitchen had everything we needed. Great view of the ocean and people watching on the walking path across the street. We could see many pods of dolphins in the bay everyday from the living room and deck. There were some problems with wifi (which was not connected during our stay), plugs in the downstairs bathroom and the toilet in the guest house. The owner responded and sent someone to try to fix the wifi but it could not be fixed. Plugs and toilet were not fixed in the 5 days we were there. Overall, we were happy with the house and have recommended it to friends.

Perfect spot for a vacation

This is one of the few properties I've visited for which the photos, descriptions, and prior visitors' comments did not do it justice. The location is superb: close enough to easily access downtown Santa Cruz, the boardwalk, wharf and other places we wanted to spend time, but also far enough removed that we could enjoy quiet, relaxing times on the deck chatting with friends. The amenities are superb! Beautifully decorated, appointed and, very obviously, extremely well maintained which, unfortunately, hasn't always been the case with other places I've stayed. Absolutely everything we needed was there, ready for our use. It was much bigger than we had expected and the backyard is a gem! How often do you get to play bocce ball at home?? I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing time at the beach. Honestly, I think you'd be making a big mistake but not staying here!

Spectacular Ocean Views

This is a fantastic beach house overlooking the ocean! The view from the living room and deck is amazing - the highlight was the great deck outside to to enjoy breakfast, dinner and evening sunset cocktails. In fact, this was the perfect spot/view to celebrate my Birthday with friends and enjoy a champagne toast. This is truly a wonderful place to enjoy a vacation in the area to explore Santa Cruz and a base to explore the Monterrey Bay that can be enjoyed year-round. The house is spacious, very well kept and equipped - we found everything we needed for our stay and it also has a nice backyard with a cabana. The location is also very walkable which we loved and we enjoyed daily strolls along the ocean exploring the Natural Bridges park and also the The Wharf/Boardwalk. This is also very close to downtown that has some quaint shops and lovely local restaurants (couple of our favorites were Laili & Kelly's bakery). I would highly recommend this property for your next vacation in the area.

Incredible views

This place is gorgeous. There are panoramic views of the ocean. You can see the waves crashing on the rocks near a couple of small beaches along a point. We took a 10 minute walk to a beautiful nature preserve called Natural Bridges State Beach, where we saw the Monarch butterflies, and a short walk in the other direction to the lighthouse/surfing museum, where we watched some of the best surfers in the world take on Steamer's Lane by the cliffs after a surfing competition. The place is quite large, with four bedrooms and plenty of space to stretch out and relax. There is even a Bocce ball court.

Santa Cruz Beach House fronts Mitchell's Cove, a favorite spot to watch surfers ride the waves, dolphins and otters play or just lounge on the beach. Wonderful ocean views from the deck of the Pacific Ocean, Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary. Across the bay you can see the lights of Monterey at night. This is the street where the surfing at Steamers Lane has become world famous. It is located across the street from the ocean with 180 views from deck, living room, dining room, kitchen. There are no homes across the street - only water. The Beach House comfortably sleeps 12 in beds.
