Malibu Lifestyle! Forget civilization in this Cape Cod Malibu beach house that sits just 45 seconds above Pacific Coast Hwy and enjoys 180 degree plus ocean views from Palos Verdes to the Anacapa Islands. The spacious master bedroom has walk-in closets and it's own living-room size outdoor deck. A second even larger deck downstairs makes this an excellent entertainment home - and equally suited for private retreats. The ample, landscaped yard makes the setting private and serene. 5 minutes to Trancas Market and Zuma Beach. Other beaches are one minute by car - or walk to them. Nearby restaurants. Perfect for vacations or short term luxury housing. Priced below comparable properties.
Ideal location for Bride and Groom to be or their guests attending nearby weddings at Calamigos Ranch, The Sunset Restaurant/Banquet facility, or Rancho Sol del Pacifico. SORRY, WE DO NOT RENT THE PROPERTY FOR WEDDINGS.
Location: This charming Cape Cod house is located in scenic and serene west Malibu just 45 seconds above Pacific Coast Highway. The rental rates are very competetive compared to similar Malibu properties. The grounds are landscaped with mature trees and a gardener is included. The views are perhaps the best in Malibu and afford excellent sunset watching. If you are attending a wedding or any event at Calomigos ranch, this home is just 8 minutes away, and is nicer and closer than any hotel. The home itself has a very open and private resort feel, and is not boxed in by neighboring properties. You will not want to leave!
The House: The home is a tasteful, up-to-date, 2 story beach house designed for an in-door-out-door lifestyle. The deck spaces make it great for entertaining. It is large enough for families, and is just as good as a romantic retreat for two. The kitchen contains an indoor grill. Almost all rooms have an ocean view. There are two fireplaces and several flat screen TVs..
Nearby Attractions: Ample hiking, horseback riding and mountain bike trails and wilderness parks are close by. Many Beaches, including famous Zuma Beach, are only minutes away. Matador Beach is a wonderland of caves, cliffs, rock formations and tide pools. Leo Carillo and County Line Beaches are known for their surfing and kite-boarders. Great shopping, dining and movie star sightings are offered at Malibu's main commercial hub comprising the Malibu Country Mart, The Colony Shopping Center and the newly opened 'Lumber Yard.' Another visitor favorite is the Malibu Pier where you may dine, fish for your own food, or simply stroll. There are also a number of restaurants and bars within 5 - 10 minutes drive of the house, including The Sunset, Hideaway Cafe Paradise Cove. The How's Trancas shopping center is a five minutes drive and a Pavillions supermarket 7 minutes. A public golf course is 10 minutes away. Close by winetasting in local vineyards.
Nature, tranquility and a laid back community with Hollywood flair made Malibu an idyllic place to raise a family. With our kids are in college now we have decided to open our home to guest travelors while we do some traveling of our own.
Tom purchased this house in 2002
This property has a sense of quiet privacy coupled with expansive views of ocean and mountain. The floor plan, including large both up- and downstair decks, makes it great for large families, family reunions, retreats, or groups of friends. Plus a yard and lots of out door land for kids to run about. Why rent hotel rooms? With four bedrooms and ample space inside and out you will pay less for much more by choosing this home.
In addition, if you are coming to town for a wedding at venues like The Sunset Restaurant, Calomigos Ranch, Malibu West Club, the home provides close-by convenience and a great "home base" for family or wedding party.
Five minutes to shopping and restaurants.
Malibu homes are known for their views - This home's are the best of the best!
iur son graduated and we wanted a place that would cater to a large family yet still be intimate. This home is set above the ocean and nestled in the mountainside with unbelievable views
We couldn't of asked more!!!
Great location, beautiful views, and well maintained older home. We had a small mixup with receiving the entry codes, but Tom was able to sort it out as soon as we got in touch with him. Overall, we loved our stay and will definitely consider this home again on a future trip!
Perfect weekend getaway for a group of friends. We stayed here for 3 nights and spent plenty of time at the house itself, whether it was grilling, soaking in a clean hot tub, chatting by the fire pit, or simply lounging and playing board games in the spacious living room with a wood fire burning in the fireplace. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, plates and cups, with a nice indoor grill for some late night grilling. The views are incredible, and the location is quiet (i.e., no loud parties next door). It was minutes away from several beaches and trails, and plenty of towels were provided for our use.
Couldn't have imagined a nicer way to spend a long weekend with a group of close friends. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and wouldn't hesitate to book this place again.
We rented this lovely home for the weekend of our son's wedding which was held nearby and had a fantastic time there! The location right off PCH just south of Zuma Beach is excellent and the sweeping ocean views from both decks can't be beat. We loved every minute of our visit!
The three bedrooms downstairs are comfortable with queen beds, two of which have French doors that open onto the main deck. The master suite upstairs with a king bed is expansive with a huge walk in closet, sitting area with couch, large bathroom, crib room, and two sets of French doors that open onto the upper deck with hottub and fire pit. The kitchen, dining, room, and living room downstairs are spacious and open onto the lower deck which has a picnic table, small serving bar, drink cooler, hammock, captains chairs, etc. There is a large flatscreen TV in the living room, as well as in the master suite. A long set of stairs takes you down to a lower lawn with a gazebo that could be used for a small wedding.
The house is decorated with a slightly dated but fun funky feel, incorporating beautiful antique architectural elements. The kitchen has a gas grill, a smallish gas griddle and large four burner stove. There are two electric wall ovens as well. The kitchen is not very well stocked, particularly when it comes to utensils and dishes. Recommend bringing everything you need. They did provide coffee supplies.
The owners were friendly and easy-going, but not always very responsive. We blew a circuit breaker in the kitchen while cooking pancakes and couldn't find a switch to restore power. I didn't have a phone number for the owners so emailed them, asking for help, but never got a response. It was the last day of our visit so we made out okay, but I would have hoped for a response from them.
One other challenge is the driveway sits on a blind curve so it feels like you are taking your life in your hands when you exit. There is room for parking about six cars in the driveway, but if you are going to have people visiting encourage carpooling.
In any case I recommend this as a great place to gather with family and friends and enjoy the beauty of Malibu!
The house is in a beautiful location, overlooking the ocean, and the property has plenty of space for 7-8 people to sleep comfortably. So many areas to spend with family or friends, since there is a lower and upper deck with plenty of seating, as well as a bench by the front door for some quiet time. We stayed there for 4 nights for my daughter's wedding and it worked out well. All the amenities of home, so all you really have to bring is the food and drink for the most part. The appliances in the kitchen are older, so just be aware if you plan on doing a lot of cooking. The kitchen needed to be wiped down before I could unpack my groceries, but didn't take me long to clean it up.
I appreciated the spacious laundry room, and beach towels, since surfing everyday was part of the trip. The hammock on the deck was wonderful to just relax after a long day, and I appreciated the fact that two of the bedroom doors, opened onto the deck, to extend the bedroom.
The only issue we had was that the weather was cool in the evenings and neither of the outdoor heaters worked. We had to go inside after the sun would set. The propane upstairs for the fire pit was out, but we were able to replace it.
We sat in the hot tub and watched the sun setting on the upper deck, while other family were below enjoying the lower deck.
We were quite busy with the wedding, but were able to find some time to browse The Malibu Country Mart. It is "boutique mall" located in the heart of Malibu at the Civic Center, with a food court and play yard for the little ones.
There is a grocery store called Vintage Grocery only 3 minutes from the house, with a Starbucks and a few other shops, so that was very helpful. Very convenient without going into town for your shopping needs.
All in all, a wonderful place to get away for a Malibu experience.
Perfect Mailibu vacation for our family of 7. World class views from both decks - one with cool breezes and the other with endless sunshine. The house was spacious and comfortable and private . . . perfect.
