|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Prestigious apartment with terrace, right over the cobblestone pedestrian area of the Jewish Ghetto (one of the most ancient areas of Rome next to Campo dè Fiori). It' s a luxury apartment recently renovated with high quality fittings, furniture and amenities. The apartment comprises of one spacious double bedroom with vaulted ceilings, a second smaller bedroom for two people with en-suite bathroom, a second master bathroom with shower, a large living room with an open kitchen under a nice loft area (with a nice futon bed for extra 2 guests) and a large terrace overlooking Ancient Rome.
Air conditioned, (or heated) and complete with linens, towels, stoves, dishes, kettle, toaster, oven, dishwasher, hairdryer, washing machine, iron - iron board, internet wifi and a Plasma TV with Sky satellite.
Please note that there is a disabled person living in the building, which sometimes has been loud. This problem occurred very, very rarely. Since some guests experienced this inconvenience, we want to clarify about this remote but possible issue.
I wouldn't even say that is an issue, but I prefer guests to know about the possibility, so they don't get scared if it happens..
Located on the first floor (no elevator. Just 18 steps to climb) of a renovated building in Via S. Maria del Pianto, just 2 minutes walk to Campo di Fiori, 5 minutes to Piazza Navona or the Pantheon, 15 minutes to Spanish steps, fontana di trevi and S,Peter basilica. The location is the best you can wish for !
The apartment was as described. Luca was very courteous and even loaned us his cell phone to make local calls. The location was very convenient to walk to just about everything we were interested in seeing. It is also in a very safe area of Rome.
The apartment was just as advertised and in a fantastic location. We were able to easily walk to all the sites of Rome and, although we did not use the tram, it was only at the end of the street. There were many restaurants and cafes in the immediate vicinity. The property was clean and well maintained and comfortable for us (4 adults). My only comment is that the bedroom with the ensuite is quite small and only just fits the queen sized bed and it is difficult to access the cupboards/wardrobes in that room. It was great to have a washing machine after travelling for over a month, and although we didn't cook any meals, the kitchen was fully equipped. The property manager (Luca) was extremely helpful and organised everything, including a car and driver to meet us on arrival in Rome and again to take us to the airport when we left. We were met on arrival at the apartment and shown everything so that we settled in without any problems. I would certainly recommend this apartment to friends and relatives.
This was our first time using VTBO/Home Away in Europe. The pictures accurately depict the apartment. We traveled with two couples. The beds were comfortable and the two bathrooms were a huge plus for getting the girls ready. The location is excellent and we loved staying in the Jewish neighborhood with all of the shops and restaurant options. Luca took care of us from the very first inquiry a year ago. He arranged a car to pick us up from the airport and get us right to the room for a reasonable price, I highly recommend that. We used him to get us back to the airport as well. Our only issue was working the front bathroom shower knob and getting it to spray hot water consistently. I think the fixture has a bad washer. Not a big deal. We walked everywhere with no problems. We felt safe and enjoyed evening walks every night. Loved this location and the apartment. Trip of a lifetime.
We stayed for a week and really liked the apartment. The location is fantastic. The descriptions and pictures were accurate. We really loved the terrace. The kitchen was fully stocked with pans and utensils plus condiments. There are several good restaurants on the same quiet street. Bus stops are just around the corner and many locations are walking distance. With the handicapped neighbor, it can be noisy at night. I brought earplugs which helped.
Ok.. The point of a review is not to please the owner or to say "thank-you", but is to provide an honest evaluation for future customers. So - with that in mind, I will try to be of help.
First the great:
Location is perfect. We stayed in another property in this neighbourhood, and came back because the location is outstanding. In my mind there is no better location in old Rome - you are almost 1/2 way between Vatican and Colosseum.. Campo de Fiori is a couple blocks, as is the Pantheon, and another couple blocks to Piazza Navona. Awesome.
Contact with owner and on-site meeting - perfect. Easy to contact via email and telephone - perfect.
The deck - lovely - morning espresso and pastry from bakery just a few steps from the front door was lovely each morning.
Air conditioning worked great in living room and bed rooms - a God-send in the heat and humidity of late summer Rome.
Now the criticism - the not so great. The building is old - so you do not expect the Hilton - but comparing it to our stay in Venice (1600's building) and prior stay in Rome in same neighbourhood - it does require a new paint and an overall cleaning. Nothing horrendous (no insect or serious issues - last stay in Hawaii my wife woke up with a cockroach on her face - nothing like that) but the walls and showers need paint and worn couch need sprucing up. Showers in particular had mould on walls and floor and need some scrubbing and new paint.
The most difficult issue however was a neighbour who I believe was handicapped who screamed very loudly almost all night on three of our nights. Very frightening and disconcerting (like someone was being stabbed sort of thing). My brother in law is profoundly handicapped, so I understand and empathize - however, I do warn travellers, it is disconcerting and made it very difficult to sleep.
Of course spending a week in Rome is always a joy, and the criticism above certainly did not create an unenjoyable stay - but I believe future renters should be aware of same.
The apartment is great in all the senses. It has a beautiful terrace where to have breakfast, dine, etc. Is really comfortable, spacious and with great lumninosity, the decoration and equipment is excellent too. Regarding to the location is great near Marcello´s Theatre and within walking distance of almost everywhere. I have no doubt about where to stay on a new rome trip!
