Sunrises here are as beautiful as the sunsets; just different. The porpoise are bountiful in the lagoon. The water on their dorsal fins as they break the surface sparkles like diamonds in the morning sun. The start of a day here is truly the beginning of an adventure.

Across the street is the natural landscape of wind-sculpted dunes, sea oats and the private sugar-white sand beaches of Pass-A-Grille Beach. The Estate is directly across the street from the sugar white sands of Pass-A-Grille Beach and the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. It is a short and pleasant walk to the world renowned Don CeSar Hotel and other traditional Beach Resorts.

Transportation is easy enough. The Trolley stop is right in front of the house. It will take you all the way to downtown St. Petersburg for shows, shopping, museums and fine dinning. The My free beach ride will pick up from the house and take you anywhere along the beach for incredible seafood and local shopping. If you choose, Bats Taxi cab service is just two miles down the road.

Awesome Property!!

We needed a large property for a family wedding and we found it at the Birds of Paradise.

The photos on VRBO are 100% authentic.

Our group included multiple families ages 22-70 years old.

The 3 houses allowed us to gather in the main house but also allowed privacy for those who wanted it.

The property is old and historic, so be ready to adjust if something breaks down. :)

The property manager and owner are very accomodating.

Thank you again for sharing your jewel in the Gulf with us!!!!

The Best Ever Grannie Camp by the Sea

Each year we try to gather in all of our 6 offspring +a nephew & their crews for Grannie (that's me) Camp at our place in N.GA. Honestly, it's hard to accomplish w/ everyone's busy schedule. This year my oldest son wanted to take his crew to Disney World. So, okay. I'll find someplace in FL, Gulf side (because it is so beautiful). I needed a big place. WOW!!! Birds of Paradise (BoP) so exceeded the pics. 9 beds & 9 baths & plenty of space for littles (air mattresses & a pull out sofa in the middle house). NO, it is not as pristine as the photos. (the spa doesn't work: but who cares? the ocean calls!!) But, at its heart, it is SO very fantastic/magical. What memories we made! The 3 houses are in a line on the marina. Not in a U as the pics would lead you to think. Stuff we did:Hired a boat to pick up some us off the dock for cruising!!! BIG dock. Parasailing. Walking the beach bar crawling! BoP features multiple gathering places for late night owls and early morning larks. There is a great blue heron that visits every morning. Babies & Granddaddy could nap during the day:no problem. Others could party the sun up. Fishing off the dock. The pool is wonderful. Shallow enough for the littles and then the deep end for the tweens/teens. I swear I heard "Marco Polo" 12 zillion times!! A dozen+ poolside tables & umbrella! And when it comes to the ocean, the white sand beach is a short block walk away to the west and then a troop through the dunes. Sunset watching EVERY night. Our family likes to cook so the kitchen in the big house was a dream: double stove tops, double ovens, double microwaves, BIG subzero fridge & freezer PLUS a big-out-the-wazoo cooler & freezer off the kitchen w/ 2 double industrial sized washer & dryers. The big house is so spacious. We played bingo and Cranium and cards/coloring stuff strewn all over those wonderful rugs. And, yes, the piano was played, along w/ some guitar sing alongs. While I think BoP is more often used as a party site, it is the PERFECT place for a family party. It is so spread out w/ so many gathering places. The beds are comfy. There are grocery stores & bottle shops close by. The property manager set up us w/ a local photographer to take a group photo. Wonderful!! I brought an extra fold out table (there were a lot of us!) and I wish I had brought my favorite paring knife. Other than that, BoP provides paper towels, TP, garbage bags (pick up 2x a week) and a multitude of pots&pans in the big house. 5 stars
