We had a wonderful family retreat. We had fourteen family members staying on property. The lake view is great...The sunset is perfect. The children loved the treehouse and zip line. The property was clean and well-maintained. Owners provided great customer service. I would recommend this vacation home to my friends and family. Great home to relax in and enjoy your family.
We stayed in the White Oak property to celebrate my 50th birthday. None of us live in the area and were delighted at how quite and relaxing it was. We had 4 children and they loved the yard, playhouse and, of course, the lake.
The property is great for a big group -- especially if you have couples with and without children. With two houses, it is unique, but also very well equipped for diverse and changing needs. The bar area was great for paying games, and adult time while the roominess of the kitchen in the main house provided plenty of room to gather together for meals and birthday cake!! Our daughter in law is a gourmet cook and loved settling in the kitchen for the cooking phase of the trip. Entertaining is easy with two fully equipped kitchens.
While at the home, we enjoyed our grandson's first birthday and made lots of memories that will last a lifetime. On top of the property being clean, welcoming, and inviting.
We canoed and spent most of our time in the lake. The great part of the location of the home is that it is on a waterway that is not flooded by ski boats, jet skis, etc. We were able to play in the lake and take a relaxing ride down the lake without the frustration of others trying to run over us!! We did not need to travel far for anything and honestly only left when necessary. The nice part of the secluded property is that it is just minutes from shopping and activities.
We wil definately think of this property for future trips. Working with the property owner was easy and we not only would recommend White Oaks to others, we already have. Thanks for making 50 for me awesome and #1 for my grandson a time of great memories. Cindy & Davis Daniel
White Oaks is a wonderful place to gather people for a meeting and fellowship. We enjoyed it immensely. The two kitchens were great seeing we were cooking three meals a day for 24 people (only 11 stayed at White Oak overnight) for a week. We reserved one kitchen for breakfast and snacks and the other for preparing and serving lunch and dinner. The grounds, dock, and lake are beautiful. The sunsets are breath taking. It is secluded and quiet a perfect get-away. We highly recommend it for anyone seeking time together in a unique, quiet, peaceful and lovely setting. Thank you for allowing our group to enjoy your wonderful home.
I am writing this review a year late. We rented White Oaks for a corporate entertaining event around the Masters in 2010. The place was fantastic. The Scully's were very easy to deal with and we were able to arrange catering and cleaning services easily. Our guests absolutely loved it.
We stayed here in January 2010 and had a wonderful time. We rented both places and had more than enough room for everyone. The furnishings are beautiful and the houses are set-up so that no one is kept awake when some of us sit around talking into the wee hours of the night. We grilled and found all the dishes and untensils that we needed right there on the property. The place is beautifully furnished and quite comfortable. We had a fabulous time and really felt special while we were there. We will certainly stay here again. Thank you both so much!
Rented Robert's place for an event my group had at the lake. Primary house was nice, secondary house was a little dated. Air conditioning units are not sized correctly for the houses. Checked in mid-day in September and the thermostat's were set at 82 or so, by 10PM that night (units running all day) they were at 80.....impossible to cool these houses off. Did get a little better through the weekend, but Robert really should invest in better units or dual zone units.
We had an issue with Robert and a broken piece of furniture. The furniture was broken before we arrived as evidenced by someone attempting to glue it back together. Robert acknowledged this (see next paragraph) but still held my group responsible and has refused to return our deposit. Actually, that's not completely correct. He said he would return a portion of the deposit, but we stayed there 2 months ago and despite several emails stating he would, I have not seen any refund.
"It was an expensive chair and part of a set of four we purchased specifically for the log main room. We were not aware of earlier breakage but do see it now as you stated. However, it will still need to be repaired. We will have to take cost of repair from deposit." Quote from Robert Scully email dated October 9, 2010.
I don't recommend anyone staying here.
