About the property

Lakefront Log Cabin, 2 + Bedrooms with Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

We would like to welcome you to our North Woods Log Cabin that is on the Clam Falls Flowage( which is a 154 acre lake)and is constantly renewed with fresh water from 3 different streams that flow thru McKenzie's Wildlife Reserve, and is only 90 Minutes from the Twin Cities. It is a place to relax, create, inspire, mend and rejuvenate in the surroundings of the N.W. Wisconsin Wilderness.

Our cabin is open all year and is very secluded with trees surrounding our 4 acres. The cabin is situated in a park like setting with a beautiful view of the lake overlooking a 3,000 acre state land preserve. Our cabin life during the Summer is filled with long sunny days of swimming, fishing, boating, campfires and going to sleep with cool nights and the call of the Loon. In the Fall the colors are beautiful, and Winter is one of our favorite times at the cabin.

It is so quiet and peaceful and we like falling asleep reading books, sitting in front of the fire in the wood burning stove. We have close to 1,000 ft of shoreline and we are 500 ft from the entrance to Mc Kenzies Wildlife Reserve with walking trails and snowmobile trails in the winter. The Ice Age Trail borders the lake as well as several trout streams, which are the water source for the lake. Cross country skiing and Downhill skiing are nearby.

Our cabin sleeps 6-8 and has 2 bedrooms on the main floor, One with a Queen size bed, and the other with a full size bed. There is a large loft area with a large sleeper sofa and two twin beds, tons of games, puzzles, books and Game table. All Linens and towels are provided and we have flannel sheets and down comforters on the beds in the Fall & Winter. We have one full bathroom with tub and shower on the main level. The kitchen is fully stocked with stove, microwave, Keurig Coffee Maker and refrigerator and all the dishes, pans, drip coffee pot and cooking supplies you need. We have 2 charcoal grills outside for grilling, adirondack chairs, and a picnic table. The cabin is 14 years old and has the feel of a solid wood ship with vaulted ceilings, log stairs, railings and large panoramic window walls throughout the cabin to bring in the beauty of the outdoors. It is so nice to sit in the 4-season porch in the morning while having coffee and breakfast and watching the sun rise.

Siren, Luck and Frederic are all less than 15 minutes away providing exceptional golfing and quality dining options, fun shopping and any other groceries and supplies you may need.

Duluth MN. harbor on Lake Superior is 75 minutes door to door.

Just as pictured.

Wonderful getaway with no phone or tv channels. Kids played two games of monopoly and skated on the lake. Too cold to ice fish, believe it or not! Loved sitting on the porch reading in the morning sun. Would definitely recommend this cabin.

Comfy, cozy getaway cabin with a beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place for a getaway vacation! The cabin is comfy and cozy, and it was so nice to be able to have our dog with us. After the day hiking the IceAge Trail, is was wonderful to relax by the fire and watch a movie. Quiet, beautiful lake view, totally as advertized. Jackie was the perfect host.

Very nice- perfect for my purpose which was writing and spending some reflection time

  • 5 of 5

I overall loved it. Since I was there alone, it was a bit difficult to have no form of communication while at the cabin. I drove to town a couple of times so took care of communicating with who I needed that way.

I would recommend it, however, as a beautiful spot, very nice cabin and perfect for a quiet get-away

Summer perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cabin and surrounding property. Very true to the photos. We loved heading out in the kayaks and then going for a swim. The dirt road to the cabin ends at the McKenzie Wildlife Area--great for hikes. Our dog could not have been happier to be able to spend the week with us. Maple syrup from Moody's across the lake was a lovely touch. Thank you Jacki and Christian for an amazing week!

Quiet and private home

  • 5 of 5

This log cabin is located off the main road on a dead end dirt road with a long driveway. It is private and quiet with a large manicured yard leading to the lake. At the end of the dirt road is the McKenzie Creek Wildlife Area and we were thrilled to hike there daily with our dog. If you like wildlife, this is the cabin for you! We saw loons, eagles, beaver, herons, scarlet tanagers, hummingbirds, flycatchers and our personal favorite, a fisher on the hiking trail in McKenzie Creek. The dock is solid and does have sand in the beginning which makes it easy to get in and out of the boats. There isn't much of a swimming area but we found two rope swings just five minutes across the lake with a wonderful sandy swimming area which we used daily. This actually was a highlight of our trip! The cabin itself is sound and even though it was in the 80's all week, with all the ceiling fans and house fans, by the time the sun went down, it cooled off nicely and we had no trouble sleeping. Everything worked well in terms of appliances, grill, shower, hot water. The fishing was amazing-my husband caught so many Northern and Largemouth he lost count. On the last night we left, he caught a 5 lb 20 inch Largemouth(which he released for others to catch) and we have pictures and video as proof! He used a kayak all week for fishing believe it or not. The paddleboat was a hit with our teenage daughters and dog! Although we had no mosquitos or horseflies in the yard, as soon as we started to walk down the driveway, the flies started to buzz around us so be sure to bring a hat. Pictures of this cabin and propery are accurate, it is lovely and as it's name says, there is no phone and for us, there was no wireless service coverage until we walked a ways up the road into the woods on the hiking trail. Did go to the Chattering Squirrel Cafe for good coffee and free wireless. Burnett Dairy in Alpha is a great place to have lunch and ice cream and buy cheese. We went twice we liked it so much.

About Jacki & Christian

My husband Christian and I decided to build our log cabin as a wedding present to each other. We have been married 18 years now and wanted a place to get away from our daily, hectic life. We love the Frederic/ Siren area and it is only 90 minutes away to get the 'up north' feeling. My husband loves bicycling, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and hiking and I love quilting and working on all kinds of art projects. Our cabin is our sanctuary and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Jacki & Christian purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Jacki & Christian chose Frederic

We decided to build in the Frederic/ Siren area because of its closeness to the Twin Cities and its beautiful 'up North' feel. Having McKenzie's Wildlife Reserve just steps away also helps bring nature close to the cabin and all the wildlife we see. It is a very special place and so are the people. There are also Apple Orchards, tons of Golfing and lots of fun things to do when you are there.

What makes this cabin unique

Beautiful scenery, birds everywhere, great fishing and swimming and lots of deer and wildlife. Beautiful loon calls, and a 'up north' Boundary Water like setting. Apple Orchards are near by and snowmobile trails on the edge of our property. Gandy Dancer Recreation Trail minutes away, as well as the Ice Age Hiking Trail within walking distance of our property.

Large windows in the cabin bring the outdoors in, and our 4 season porch with window walls lets you enjoy wildlife without them knowing you are there.
