The Caleb Beal House is an ideal location to stay if you are visiting Boston (30 mins by commuter boat) Cape Cod or touring New England.
Hingham is a beautiful and historic New England town with all the amenities you love on your vacation including lovely restaurants, cafes and local shops and stores. The house is downtown and mostly everything is within walking distance. The harbour and town beach are at the end of the street.
The Caleb Beal House was built in 1832 by Caleb Beal. We are still investigating his life but we believe he was sea captain. The house was built as a single or a double residence and was rented to visiting sea captains over the years. Hingham harbour was busy with trade and numerous sailing ships at that time. Hingham is a historic town for many reasons and it is notably where the early Pilgrims settled and home to the Lincoln family.
Enjoy the ambiance of this antique house, cheerful and comfortable with fresh crisp linens and hard wood floors throughout. There is a cozy screened porch overlooking a small garden area; a wonderful way to relax on your New England vacation.

we've been coming to this area for more than 20 years...thank you for making this house so inviting . spent time with family...walked in Hingham and Scituate. breakfast and coffee on the porch.....sunny ,hot, humid at first...cool breeze cooled everything down most evenings...this is the first time we have rented a house...we would definitely do it again!
Got really lucky with this lovely property, also the town of Hingham is a jewel. Perfect mix of access to Boston city fun and small town charm and New England beach. Very comfortable and convenient.
Family and friends visited here in June, and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Absolutely wonderful accommodations. Lovely house...comfortable and very well equipped. They thought of everything! Nice being able to walk to local shops and restaurants. Highly recommend this charming house. Thank you.
This house is immaculate - it's like stepping back in time, but much more comfortable, with all the mod cons! Tom and Millie couldn't be nicer or more accommodating and helpful. Hingham is so gorgeous, it's like a film set. Getting the ferry across to Boston is really lovely too (after catching a bus to the ferry). Can't really say enough positive things about our stay here. Special mention for one of the comfiest beds you'll ever sleep in too!!
What an amazing experience it was to stay in this house while we were touring historical sites. The house is simply beautiful and the owners, Tom and Millie, are very kind and have added little touches to the house to make your stay even more pleasant - like sand buckets, beach towels and chairs, grilling equipment if you want to use their grill, plenty of towels and blankets...and the kitchen is fully equipped (minus the two glasses our daughter broke...oops). It's a great place for families, and easily accessible to Boston, Plymouth, and Cape Cod. The house was very clean! And there is just something about an old house like this...a charm to it you can't get anywhere else, a sense of history. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. If we ever have the opportunity to return to the Boston area, this is where we will stay!
We spent 5 nights in this delightful property. Although the house is split to provide accommodation for Tom and Milly (the lovely owners) and the part which is let, the "join" is difficult to see and was not an issue for us at all. The house is very well appointed, with quality items, and contains eveything which you could possibly want. A super grocery is located 5 minutes walk away. The surrounding area and towns provided attractive scenery and plenty of interest, with great food available. We would have no hesitation in staying here again if we return to New England.
A lovely place to stay in Hingham. Very charming home, easy access to activities and ferry. Once they installed the window air conditioning things cooled down greatly. Owners live next door with access via doors throughout home, but they are locked and very private. Owners were very kind and helpful. Lovely backyard patio and screened in porch. Bathrooms a bit small and were not stocked with basics like shampoo and conditioner. Would have been a nice touch. Also, there is no laundry capability on the property, you have to go to a public laundry which makes it very inconvenient. Would recommend they install a small washer and dryer on the property as this would make a huge difference when staying for more than a day or two. Additionally, the TV in the front living room was so small that unless you were sitting within 5 feet of it, it was really hard to watch anything. Highly recommend the TV be upgraded to a much larger screen and perhaps placed over the fireplace. Simply way too small to enjoy any programming. Would recommend this property just keep in mind the above noted items.
