About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5)

The Caleb Beal House is an ideal location to stay if you are visiting Boston -which is 30 mins by commuter boat and train. Many people stay here for trips to Cape Cod and while touring New England and visiting family and friends.

Enjoy the ambiance of this antique house, cheerful and comfortable with fresh crisp linens and hard wood floors throughout. There is a cozy screened porch overlooking a small garden area; a wonderful way to relax on your New England vacation.

Hingham is a beautiful and historic New England town with all the amenities you love on your vacation including lovely restaurants, cafes and local shops and stores. The house is downtown and mostly everything is within walking distance. The harbour and town beach are at the end of the street.

The Caleb Beal House was built in 1832 by Caleb Beal. We are still investigating his life but we believe he was sea captain. The house was built as a single or a double residence and was rented to visiting sea captains over the years. Hingham harbour was busy with trade and numerous sailing ships at that time. Hingham is a historic town for many reasons and it is notably where the early Pilgrims settled and home to the Lincoln family.

Immaculate and Charming

  • 5 of 5

Caleb Beale house is a charming house that is warm and welcoming - and spotless. Our family - my husband and our three adult daughters - had a family event in a neighboring town over a long weekend, so we primarily spent our mornings and nights at the house. The rooms were very comfortable (beware, no air conditioning) and the house is very well provisioned with linens, spotless white towels, a good set of cookware and kitchen supplies you would like to see. Although we only cooked breakfasts, the kitchen is more than sufficient to cook for and serve a family of five. We particularly enjoyed the screened porch and patio off the kitchen. Beach towels and chairs were definitely a bonus. Coffee shop and full grocery store are only a couple of blocks away. We were completely satisfied and highly recommend.

Wonderful Historic Home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 5 nights at the Caleb Beal historic home and found it to be absolutely wonderful! Tom and Millie have kept the original integrity of the home, but have all the modern conveniences needed. There are great places to eat within walking distance and the town of Hingham is absolutely charming! There is also a nice market within walking distance if you'd like to cook your own meals. It is a nice sized place, our group consisted of myself, my husband, my father and my 8 yr old son and it was the perfect amount of space for us to enjoy some privacy while being able to feel at home. We would highly recommend staying here!

Thank you Tom and Millie, we hope to come back soon!

Stay here - you won't regret it!

  • 5 of 5

This house is immaculate - it's like stepping back in time, but much more comfortable, with all the mod cons! Tom and Millie couldn't be nicer or more accommodating and helpful. Hingham is so gorgeous, it's like a film set. Getting the ferry across to Boston is really lovely too (after catching a bus to the ferry). Can't really say enough positive things about our stay here. Special mention for one of the comfiest beds you'll ever sleep in too!!

Beautifully appointed antique house!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing experience it was to stay in this house while we were touring historical sites. The house is simply beautiful and the owners, Tom and Millie, are very kind and have added little touches to the house to make your stay even more pleasant - like sand buckets, beach towels and chairs, grilling equipment if you want to use their grill, plenty of towels and blankets...and the kitchen is fully equipped (minus the two glasses our daughter broke...oops). It's a great place for families, and easily accessible to Boston, Plymouth, and Cape Cod. The house was very clean! And there is just something about an old house like this...a charm to it you can't get anywhere else, a sense of history. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. If we ever have the opportunity to return to the Boston area, this is where we will stay!
