We're the Schubert family: Tim, Arlene, daughter Alexa, and grandson Brendan. Tim and Arlene recently retired. After 18 years living in Tacoma, WA, they're exploring adventures farther afield--currently Lake Chapala, Mexico!

We chose this location because we loved the beauty and hiking of Mount Rainier, the skiing at White Pass, and the easy access from Tacoma and Seattle. We also liked the amenities and great community of Timberline Village, plus the small-town charm of Packwood.
We love to hike, ski, and snowshoe. Arlene also recommends the thrift stores of Packwood.
We stayed at Moosewood Manor for our honeymoon and felt like we were at a full-service spa. We lolled in the hot tub under the stars and cooked feasts in the well-stocked kitchen. We also appreciated the sustainable features, like the cork flooring. Deep soaking bathtubs, fireplaces—a perfect mountain retreat!
This Cabin was incredible. The family has put so much work into making there home a great place to stay. So much detail and craftsmanship was put into all the custom trim and details. My family had fun in the snow. Two feet when we got there. Another foot while we were there. Definitely will be back. Maybe check it out in the summer for a brand new experience. Thanks again Chad.
We had a fabulous time at the house, and we had no problems! I would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
I'm a bit of a tough grader so a 4 star review is one of a satisfied customer in this case. The lodge provided plenty of room for our group of 9 and we left with great memories. We did day trips to the Mts. and used the facilities to prepare breakfasts and evening meals. This is where the property excelled. The stove, fridge, microwave, and washer and dryer were put to good use and provided great utiility. All sizes of pots and pans and every utensil needed were available for use. I greatly appreciated that the pantry and fridge had those condiments, spices, oils, and other essentials that you hate to spend money on for a relatively short stay in stock. This was helpful and a money saver. There is a small grocery in Packwood for incidentals but I recommend you plan your meals and hit a grocery in a metro area to save some cash for your major meal ingredients.
Outside we took advantage of the marvelous hot tub, used the fire pit and the grill. We had some great family times in the hot tub and around the fire. Great places to relax and unwind after busy days of taking in with awe both Rainier and St. Helens. We all also enjoyed an hour or so at a coffee shop in Packwood on Saturday morning.
I'd do this trip over again a hundred times. Just really special for me to have all the family around, comfortable and enjoying the time together that happens too rarely as the kids get older.
There were no major negatives. The driveway was a bit of a challenge to climb but you learn to handle that. The price was at the top end of the offerings but we booked a little late and didn't have a slew of options. Even so, it was a value compared to spending on hotel rooms and not having the conveniences this place offered. I guess the greatest tribute was the praise from the family. We did an Alaskan cruise after our stay and I by the family comments the fun here matched that experienced on the cruise. Many thanks.
We enjoyed our stay at Moosewood Manor. We had plenty of room for two families with small children to gather. The kitchen was warm and open and had everything we needed to gather for family dinners. The high chair was helpful for our youngest family member. We were very close to the Ohanapecosh entrance of Mount Rainier National Park and only an hour away from Paradise. The hot tub was great to relax in after a full day of hiking. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. We very much enjoyed our trip.
The Moosewood Manor cabin was beautiful and very clean. The cabin has huge windows and a
great porch to enjoy the scenery. We loved making smores on the outdoor fire pit and sitting in
the hot tub. There is a grocery store and gas station just a couple of miles away and the drive to
Mount Rainier National Park was only about 20 minutes. We always stay in log cabins on our trips
and this was one of the best that we have visited.
This is a wonderful cabin home with all the amenities you could ask for. It is very well maintained, warm, and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay here with our family. The kids want to move in. It's also a perfect location for Mt. Rainier NP, where we spent lots of time. Definitely recommend.
