The fully-equipped gourmet kitchen has everything you need - and a few things you didn’t even think you needed - to make preparing meals a breeze. The kitchen is accented with sleek granite countertops, and features top of the line GE Profile appliances. You will be amazed at how well-stocked and well-maintained the kitchen is, with an assortment of gadgets and small appliances. The gathering height table and dining room chairs sit on a beautiful, Hawaiian inspired floral wool area rug, which sets the tropical mood. Place mats, chargers and napkins complete the glass-covered table, while seating four guests comfortably and in style.

We provide specialty glassware, serving dishes and utensils for everything from a pizza party to Thanksgiving dinner. Prefer to dine “al fresco?” The glass dining table on our wrap-around, main floor lanai can seat four. If you prefer to snack by the pool or join the owners for one of their potluck dinners at the pavilion, there are plenty of outdoor dishes, glassware, cutlery and serving dishes for safe, poolside gatherings.

SLEEP

The roomy upstairs master bedroom features a Cal king 4 poster bed with rich bedding, and a tropical-inspired ceiling fan to push through the cool trade winds breeze. Doze off while watching the 26' LCD flat screen HDTV w/DVD player, or listening to the gentle sounds of Hawaiian music. Privacy blinds, luxury linens and a new, ultra-comfortable, hypo-allergenic bed means sweet dreams await.

Step out on to the private lanai and watch the sunrise while sipping your first cup of 100% Kona coffee. Relax on the comfortable chairs with ottomans, watch the sun rise over towering Mauna Kea or take in the amazing views of the Kohala mountains and coastline.

The spa-like master bathroom features tile floors, oversized closet with hangers, a spacious, glass-enclosed shower, private water closet and a large, double vanity with granite countertops. A full-size jetted tub is ideal for soaking after a day of sightseeing, golfing, swimming or just relaxing on the beach.

The main floor bedroom, decorated in a tropical coconut palm motif, features a new, organic hypo-allergenic queen bed, ceiling fan and a 26' LCD flat screen HDTV w/DVD player.

The adjacent main floor bathroom has tile floors, a single vanity with granite countertop, and a tub with shower and sliding glass doors.

The two bedrooms are located on separate floors and offer the ultimate in privacy. Both bedrooms feature WiFi, alarm clocks, ironing boards and irons. Both bathrooms are stocked with premium Hawaiian bath products, 100% white cotton towels, hair dryers, magnifying mirrors and spa-like extras.

PLAY

Drift the day away on a pool float in the large, lagoon-style pool or get that workout in with a swim in the lap pool. Laze around on one of the lounge chairs by the quiet lap pool, while reading one of your favourite authors or listening to tunes on your iPod. Play a round of golf on one of the two championship courses at the resort. Cap off the day watching the sunset, poolside or soaking away in one of the hot tubs with the push of a button. When you’re ready to come in, dry off with one of our big, fluffy beach towels.

There’s just something special about Kulalani at Mauna Lani. The setting is peaceful and tranquil. At night, the dark night skies make for fabulous star gazing.

About Richard Waugh and Nina Nychyporuk

We live in Vancouver, British Columbia and are avid travellers. Nina is from northern Manitoba while Richard is from Chicago. Richard’s family moved to Edmonton, Alberta in the 70’s and we met in Kenora, Ontario. We eventually made our way to the lower mainland of British Columbia in 1999.

Richard has a background in the banking, auditing and regulatory industries while Nina is a Human Resources Consultant in the Health Care sector.

In our spare time we enjoy keeping fit with yoga, group cycling and gym work-outs. We also enjoy reading and spending relaxing days on our patio or at the beach and ending the day with a happy hour.

Having grown up in northern climates we spend all our vacation time traveling to sun destinations to escape the cold and rain (and sometimes snow).

We discovered the Hawaiian islands during a cruise in 2005 and in 2008 when we looked to invest in a vacation home Hawaii was the logical choice for us. It was a dream come true when we purchased our vacation home at the Mauna Lani Resort. With each visit we feel more and more a part of the 'aloha' spirit and community.

We chose the Mauna Lani Resort because of the fabulous beaches and the abundance of sunshine on the South Kohala coast (an attractive feature for those who live in a coastal rain forest!). The private beach club, a fabulous fitness centre and spa, and a local supermarket are all within a friendly and welcoming community. Although we are not avid golfers, our guests could not be more impressed with the two championship golf courses within the resort.

When we toured the Kulalani resort we fell in love with Kulalani right away because it felt immediately like home. Our villa is spacious and well laid out. The private amenities (2 pools, 2 hot tubs and a fitness centre) at Kulalani are among the best that Mauna Lani has to offer!

We have a superb track record as attentive and responsive hosts and in providing a quality well-stocked home. Just read our many, many five star reviews. We take great pride in our vacation home and it shows. Always fresh and always immaculate; our poolside location can’t be beat.

Our 10 days in this Kulalani town home was perfect in everyway! Best location on the

Big Island right behind the Fairmont Orchid with it's beach and beach restaurant, a beautiful well appointed town home in a lovely residential feel complex with pools, fitness centre etc. and minutes to other beaches and amenities! Absolutely perfect!!

Gorgeously Furnished Townhouse

The decor of Nina and Richard's home is "Tommy Bahama", so it feels warm and inviting with Hawaiian decorator accents. The kitchen has everything needed to create delicious meals and the BBQ is great. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the bedroom lanai in the evenings and listening to the rustling of the palm trees and seeing the stars. Definitely a slice of heaven! Their home is immaculately maintained and located near the two pools for easy access. It's definitely an exceptional rental.

Beautiful two story townhome.

This is a beautiful, end unit, two story town home located in the Mauna Lani resort area. Nina and Richard go beyond expectation in making sure the unit has everything you could possibly need to have a wonderful Hawaiian vacation. The unit is exceptionally clean and well maintained. We loved using the card provided to access the private Mauna Lani resort beach, just a 5 to 10 minute drive away. This is a fun swimming, snorkeling, renting a kyak beach. Every morning at sunrise we walked about 15 minutes to Holoholokai Beach Park to watch the surfers. There are plenty of excellent high end restaurants close by but we also shopped at our favorite grocery store in Waikaloa and cooked some nice meals at "home". The unit has an excellent barbecue and the kitchen is stocked with spices and every utensil you might need. We can't wait to return.

Aloha!

Where does one begin? The setting, the home, the attention to details, the immaculate condition, the super-generous hosts, the weather, the proximity to beaches..? This place is heaven on earth and Kulalani2006 is your way to experience it. Be warned, you will have serious holiday blues when you leave! We woke up to beautiful birdsong daily, it was simply delightful. The unit is located in a well manicured gated community. There are great amenities, like swimming pools/fitness club, etc and #2006 is perfectly situated for easy access to those. The beautiful beaches of the Kohala coast are a short drive away. We spent long days at the Beach club, again, you get access because of Kulalani and we had a very memorable day at the Hapuna Beach. We also drove upto Mauna Kea to see the night sky, but the viewing was really quite good even from their doorstep. We were able to visit Akaka falls/Hilo/Waimea and return home to a very relaxing space. Nina & Richard have filled their immaculate home with everything you would need for a holiday. The kitchen is fully equipped and is so well organized. One can whip up a gourmet meal, but why bother, while on holiday? We used it mainly for breakfast and to warm up meals or baby bottles. Even though Kulalani is a townhome, we never heard our neighbours, did not see too many people and had lots of privacy and quiet. This is hands down the best place we've ever stayed in and we hope to be back. Mahalo to Nina & Richard!
