SLEEP

The roomy upstairs master bedroom features a Cal king 4 poster bed with rich bedding, and a tropical-inspired ceiling fan to push through the cool trade winds breeze. Doze off while watching the 26' LCD flat screen HDTV w/DVD player, or listening to the gentle sounds of Hawaiian music. Privacy blinds, luxury linens and a new, ultra-comfortable, hypo-allergenic bed means sweet dreams await.

Step out on to the private lanai and watch the sunrise while sipping a cup of 100% Kona coffee. Relax on the comfortable chairs with ottomans, watch the sun rise over the towering Mauna Kea or take in the amazing views of the Kohala mountains and the Waikoloa Village.

The spa-like master bathroom features tile floors, oversized closet with wood hangers, a spacious, glass-enclosed shower, private water closet and a large, double vanity with granite countertops. A full-size jetted tub is ideal for soaking after a day of sightseeing, golfing, swimming or just relaxing on the beach.

PLAY

Drift the day away on a pool float in the large, lagoon-style pool or get that workout in with a swim in the lap pool. About Richard Waugh and Nina Nychyporuk

We live in Vancouver, British Columbia and are avid travellers. Nina is from northern Manitoba while Richard is from Chicago. Richard’s family moved to Edmonton, Alberta in the 70’s and we met in Kenora, Ontario. We eventually made our way to the lower mainland of British Columbia in 1999.

Richard has a background in the banking, auditing and regulatory industries while Nina is a Human Resources Consultant.

In our spare time we enjoy keeping fit with yoga, group cycling and gym work-outs. We also enjoy reading and spending relaxing days on our patio or at the beach and ending the day with a happy hour.

Having grown up in northern climates we spend all our vacation time traveling to sun destinations to escape the cold and rain (and sometimes snow).

We discovered the Hawaiian islands during a cruise in 2005 and in 2008 when we looked to invest in a vacation home Hawaii was the logical choice for us. It was a dream come true when we purchased our vacation home at the Mauna Lani Resort. With each visit we feel more and more a part of the 'aloha' spirit and community.

We chose the Mauna Lani Resort because of the fabulous beaches and the abundance of sunshine on the South Kohala coast (an attractive feature for those who live in a coastal rain forest!). The private beach club, a fabulous fitness centre and spa, and a local supermarket are all within a friendly and welcoming community. Although we are not avid golfers, our guests could not be more impressed with the two championship golf courses within the resort.

When we toured the Kulalani resort we fell in love with Kulalani right away because it felt immediately like home. Our villa is spacious and well laid out. The private amenities (2 pools, 2 hot tubs and a fitness centre) at Kulalani are among the best that Mauna Lani has to offer!

We have a superb track record as attentive and responsive hosts and in providing a quality well-stocked home. Just read our many, many five star reviews. We take great pride in our vacation home and it shows. Always fresh and always immaculate; our poolside location can’t be beat.

Perfect vacation rental!

We thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to Kulalani 2006. The house layout was perfect for our group of three. The kitchen and living spaces were great. We really appreciated such a well appointed and stocked kitchen. It was nice to have a variety of spices, oils and seasonings available as not all rentals provide that much. The welcome basket was absolutely fantastic! We commented to our friends about how Nina and Richard were very strong on communication with us and made us feel very welcome.

We were the closest unit to the lap pool and it was usually empty or with just a person or two so it felt more private than community.

Overall, we'd absolutely recommend this rental to others.

Wonderful Experience

The condo was in fantastic shape; extremely well kept and very upscale. We really appreciated all the outdoor/beach items furnished in the garage for our use. We also enjoyed coffee on the shaded lanai every morning. It was very peaceful and quiet, and quite comfortable for mid-July. The location of the condo was fantastic too, being a short walk to the pool, but not too close such that we ever heard any noise. We also enjoyed being a short drive from, and having access to, the private beach, as well as near the general store, hiking paths, and several restaurants. The condo is also only a 2-3 mile drive from Waikoloa, where we enjoyed a fantastic luau one evening. Finally, we also appreciated the fantastic communication from Richard and Nina leading up to our vacation, and a few small treats that were left for us upon our arrival (Kona coffee for the adults and Pog tropical drinks for the kids). In all, I would definitely recommend this condo to others.

Fabulous Condo! Part 2

The condo is conveniently situated next door to the pool area. The walkway to the pool is long, lined with tropical foliage, and is accessed through a locked gate. We had total privacy and didn’t hear a thing from the pool area despite our proximity to the walkway. In fact, the proximity of the pool to the condo was a real advantage. We didn’t have to drive to get to the pools!

If you’re like me, you don’t want to be dragging any sand through the condo when you return from the beach. No problem. Exit your car (plenty of room to park in the parking area right outside the condo), take a short walk across the grass, and walk directly onto the back patio/lanai. There is a hose on the patio to rinse your feet and you can safely keep your sandy beach stuff on the patio too. So convenient!

My husband and I enjoy taking morning walks while on vacation. Also, my husband runs, so he’s always looking for a place to do that. In the mornings we could walk to the Mauna Lani shops for coffee (about 2 miles RT) or we could walk in the opposite direction to the Fairmont and a picturesque beach (same approximate distance). For a longer walk (about 4 miles), we would head towards the shops, buy some coffee, and then keep walking past the shops through the Mauna Lani Hotel, and from there walk along the beach access path to the Faimont, and then back to the condo. In the evening, we often walked to Tommy Bahamas for drinks. The road was very safe to walk on even when it was dark outside—we just used the flashlight app on our cell phones to be sure that we could be seen by drivers.

Our full security deposit was returned in a timely fashion. Yes, the security deposit is probably more than what you’re accustomed to. However, when you arrive at the condo, and take it all in, I’m sure that you’ll agree with me that the beauty, cleanliness, and comfort of this condo justifies it!

So, your search for a condo on the Big Island is over. Just book this one. You’re going to love it!

Perfect home away from home in paradise!

Richard and Nina's house is just wonderful! Perfectly furnished and decorated! Really everything is there and thought of! A truely 5 star plus experience and Nina and Richard are very great and caring hosts! We will definately come back and can recommend the house to everybody!

Our 10 days in this Kulalani town home was perfect in everyway! Best location on the

Big Island right behind the Fairmont Orchid with it's beach and beach restaurant, a beautiful well appointed town home in a lovely residential feel complex with pools, fitness centre etc. and minutes to other beaches and amenities! Absolutely perfect!!
