Overview

Columbia Falls Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedroom, 2 bath, sleeps up to 6 (possibly more with small children)

Glacier Vista River Cottage is a beautiful, serene cottage that was completely remodeled and updated in 2008 yet retains a sensible country charm and privacy. GVRC is situated on 5 acres bordering the Flathead River, and the property allows access to an island accessed only through a bridge shared with one neighbor. Abundant wildlife frequents the property, which boasts 250 feet of river frontage and views into Glacier National Park. There is easy access for fishing, canoeing, or rafting while a 12x24 gazebo provides a perfect setting for picnics, sight-seeing, fishing, and much more. You can easily lose yourself on the island and it's rarely frequented game trails. Here you get a chance to experience some of Montana's land and beauty as its best.

The cottage is conveniently located in the Flathead Valley just minutes from shopping, great dining, and outdoor recreation. It is 3 minutes drive to the charming town of Columbia Falls, 10 minutes from Whitefish/Big Mountain ski resort or the city of Kalispell, 15 minutes from Glacier National Park, and 30 minutes from Bigfork/Flathead Lake. The cottage has easy and quick access to the Glacier International Airport.

The fully furnished cottage has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, front and side porches and all the necessities for a comfortable stay. A wood stove keeps the cottage warm and cozy in even the coldest winter nights, but during the summer the riverside and creekside firepits might be a better place to warm your bones!

Amenities: Master Bedroom: New queen memory foam Log Bed, walk-in closet, and direct backyard and river access.

- Second Bedroom: New queen pillow top bed and mirrored closet.

There is an available queen air mattress, as well as a separate twin air mattress, both with built in air pumps, in case an extra 1-3 guests are joining. On top of that, the couch is super comfortable...it's hard not to fall asleep there!

Other features include:

- Wood Stove, electric heat

- 42 inch TV & extensive movie collection, stereo.

- High speed wireless Internet (free, of course!), cable

- Washer, Dryer, Dishwasher.

- Barbeque/BBQ Grill, Wood Burning Grill over Bonfire pit.

- Full kitchen.

- Paved road right to house.

- Optional weekly,or daily cleaning service(extra charge).

- Private bridge and trails on property.

- split firewood, coffee/tea, condiments, dish & clothes soap.

- wheelchair accessible

I have set this cabin up as a calm and peaceful vacation retreat, with all the comforts to ensure a happy and comfortable escape from the hustle of normal life. But since my family and I can't be there all the time, I am pleased to share it with you. I hope you can enjoy it as much as I do!

GVRC does allow guests with dogs, and I have a dog myself. While we make every effort to minimize any impact of pets on the home, please be aware of this if allergies are a concern for you or your family. For those guests wanting to bring pets, we charge an extra cleaning fee of $50 for the first pet and $25 for each subsequent pet. It should be noted that the property is not fenced, and that dogs are not allowed on the trails in Glacier National Park.

Important note for guests checking in with pets:

Please note that if you have pets the extra cleaning fee is payable prior to checking in. Pets are not allowed in the home until we receive the extra fee. Unfortunately I've had multiple people avoid paying this, leaving the extra cleaning costs to come out of my pocket. Please be reminded that pets are not allowed on the trails at Glacier National Park due to the risk of bears or disturbing wildlife. Finally, remember that the property is not fenced. Please do not allow your pets in the yard unsupervised, as they may roam the neighborhood and disturb the neighbors.

Our family had a really nice time visiting the area, especially the Park. Overall, our stay was nice. The property manager was fantastic, and helped us immediately with any questions or concerns. They provided topnotch service! There were some things with the cabin that were a little less than desirable. There were a large number of insects and spiders in the cabin, including earwigs and a hobo-looking spider. We determined this was likely due to there not being any screen doors to keep things out. We had to keep the doors and windows open once it cooled down, as the temps were in the upper 80's during our stay. We also feel like the exterior of the cabin could use some clean-up to keep the pests away. In particular, there were several dead bushes around the cabin, and the porch area was dirty (especially underneath and in between the boards). The grass in the yard was quite tall, which made it difficult to enjoy the yard with our 2 year old. The pictures on this page don't necessarily represent what the cabin actually looks like. While the cabin was clean, had everything we needed, and was very accessible to activities, I do not feel I would recommend this property to others. There is definitely some work that could be done to make it feel like you are getting your money's worth.

Good for the heart and mind

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was fantastic. The cabin was very nice inside. Clean and had everything you would need. Beds slept well, the bathrooms were great. Really everything you need to be comfortable. Kitchen is filled with condiments, coffee, and really more items in the cupboards than some people have in there cupboards at home. Pots and pans were very usable. Only suggestion is oven mitts and kitchen towels, etc. those were missing.

The walk to the river is wonderful. Nice and peaceful sitting in the gazebo and watching the river move past. Really a magical place.

We had 2 French Bulldogs with us and they loved it. Very pet friendly. The smells were very exciting to their noses. They were very happy!!

Overall, we loved the place and would go back in a second. You can't go wrong.

Cozy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a great stay at this cottage with river access just steps away. We had a couple of minor problems while there but they were quickly taken care of.

We loved the bed in the master bedroom, we were concerned at first as it felt too firm but quickly figured out it was actually amazing and did wonders for our back pain. I was also very happy with the fact that when I emailed the property manager asking what type of mattress it was she provided a quick response so I could get one. For any who haven't traveled to the area it is beautiful.

Relaxing Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We were only there for a few days but everything was perfect! Shout out to the property manager for giving us ideas of where to go and get shots of the lunar eclipse. The location was perfect as well!!! If we ever come back that way, we know where we will stay!

The cottage was even better than the pictures.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our time there very much!!! We spent time at the river just enjoying our wine and the relaxing atmosphere. The cottage was very well equipped. The video library is HUGE. We wanted to stay longer but had already made arrangements to go someplace else. It does take about 25 minutes to get to Glacier from the cottage. If we are ever in that area again, we will definitely try to stay there again.

The cottage was in the perfect location. 20 minutes to the entrance of the park.

The cottage was just as it was described, very well maintained.

Camille was very helpful with all my questions.

We spent the day exploring the park and then we would go back and relax.

only positive things to say.....Highly recommended..
