You have a perfect mountain home and we enjoyed everything about it during our visit. The spectacular fireplace and windows, tasteful and comfortable décor and lovely setting created a delightful place for our vacation. I hope to return to do those Kinkade jigsaw puzzles!

We loved our stay here! We have a reunion of college friends each year and this suited our needs well. The owner is very helpful and responsive to questions. The mountain views from the huge porches are stunning. I highly recommend this property.
If you do book here, here are a couple things to note:
- Because it is a nicely secluded area, you take to take all your trash with you when you leave, so make sure you have car space for that upon departure.
- The last road up to the cabin seems to allow for 2 way traffic but is SUPER narrow! There are mirrors to help you see around curves so you know if you are going to meet someone on the road, and there are pull-offs periodically to allow cars to pass if necessary, but just know that ahead of time. That being said there are not many houses on that part of the road, and in our comings and goings, we never met another car. :)
- The hot tub is a good size. (Having a hot tub matters to our group and we have rented in places before where the hot tub looked larger in photos than in person. But this one was a good large size.)
Thanks again for a great stay!
This is a very nice property if you are wanting a relaxing getaway. It is hidden on Scaly Mt. about 25 minutes away from Highlands and about 45 minutes away from Cashiers. (My HomeAway listed it as Cashier's area - I would disagree.) It is basically closer to the Georgia line. It is very spacious with lots of sleeping room and bathrooms as well as a huge open main room and kitchen area. The kitchen had anything you would need to cook with! It is on a one lane road for the last few miles, so I would suggest arriving before dark. My GPS found it just fine. Larry the owner was very easy to work with. The cell service was iffy, but that seemed to be true of much of the area. The wifi was working, but slow. You should be fine with email, but don't plan on watching a movie on your iPad. The dish for TV worked fine in the main room. We never used the TV in the master, but the downstairs TV was useful for DVD's. All in all if you are looking for a relaxing get away in a quiet, private area, this would be ideal for you. It can easily accommodate multiple families at a very fair price. The whole place was very clean.
First off, my girlfriend's and I have been taking an annual girl's weekend for 10 years! This was the first time we have ever stayed in this area. We were pleasantly surprised! We had a fantastic weekend and even enjoyed some light snow. As we pulled away from the house on that last day, we talked about what it was that we loved most about this house/location. We couldn't list just one! We loved how secluded the house was, the views it offered, the super-stocked kitchen, the size, the fireplace, wood for the fireplace, the hot tub, a bed for everyone, the list goes on and on. The owner was very friendly and always responded promptly to emails. There were also very thorough instructions on how things worked and what was needed to do upon departure. Overall, it was a great weekend had by all and I wouldn't hesitate to come back here or recommend this vacation home to my friends and family. Thank you for a very memorable weekend!
Nicely appointed home located in a gorgeous natural setting. Feels like you are alone on the mountain. Love all of the extra decorating touches. The kitchen is stocked with quality cookware. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. My bed was as comfortable as the one I have at home. It was nice to warm up in front of the fireplace after soaking in the hot tub. This rental is like living in a tree house. Lots of nature to enjoy!!
We had an excellent long weekend at the Metzler's mountain house. The property was immaculate and well-appointed. Hiking and swimming opportunites abound in the area, and the hot tub is wonderful after a long day in the woods. We hope to return next year.
Stayed in this house with 8 friends for a wedding. Everyone loved the place. Great views of the mountains, ping pong table down stairs was great, comfy beds. To bad it wouldn't stop raining while we were there. Much more was left to be discovered outside. Huge decks for bbq's and lounging. And if you like roller coasters you will love the road leading up to the house.
