We have been a fan of Newport since 1989 and love the historic and architectural charm as well as the open scenic cliff walk views. Newport has offered us a unique home away from home with a atmosphere that is unforgettable…Married in Newport in the mid nineties and have raised our family with Newport as a central figure in our children's lives.
Gary purchased this apartment in 2013
If I have free time then I want to spend it in Newport, it is my favorite place to be. I wanted to be right down town near all of the action of the downtown triangle, but still have some peace and quiet. This home was the perfect mix of both! I love its old world charm, the history (National Historic Landmark) and being close to all of my favorite spots in town. I can walk to the beach, Tennis Hall of Fame, the mansions and fantastic restaurants. Being able to walk to these places is key because of summer traffic and tough parking!
Some unique benefits this house has to offer is it's proximately to many of Newport's favorite spots (within just a few blocks from the harbor, Cooke House, Black Pearl, Yesterday’s, Buskers, Starbucks, the movie theatre, etc.) The house also boasts a charming patio for BBQ's and fun as well as a romantic 4th floor cupola which looks out over the harbor. Every piece of furniture was selected to complete the perfect feel for this vacation get-away...from a beautiful mahogany 4-post bed to a wistful breezy sleigh bed, Bright and beautiful summer bedrooms on third floor, bookcase full of great summer reading material, cozy alcove and fireplace reading areas.
Virginia cousins and New York cousins came together in Newport for a fun few days. The house was perfect for us as each couple and each kid had their own room and the house is in a great location to enjoy the town. You can walk to the center of town but are in a quiet, historic neighborhood. You have everything you need but the kitchen is small so plan to eat dinner out each night. We would definitely stay there again!
Very comfortable house. The second and third floors easily accommodated our ten family members. It's close enough to the "downtown" area to make walking and shopping tours a snap. We took advantage of this proximity often although the house is easy to drive to and from for "road trips". (We just HAD to see Martha!) The property was very clean and well appointed (games, books, TVs, etc.). Hope we return to the east coast sometime soon to revisit this grand old house.
This was one of our BEST family gatherings ever!! The house was a perfect fit for my family and the location even better! Would not hesitate for a second to return to this gem!!
We really loved the house and especially the LOCATION. What a great location in Newport! We walked to almost everything we wanted to visit....the harbor, restaurants, the beach, the cliff walk. The rooms in the house itself were well decorated, very clean, comfortable, and in great condition. Parking was also easy thanks to the reserved driveway and parking passes. Our only challenge was getting the internet to work which we managed to figure out part way through our stay. Gary was very helpful and did his best to make our stay agreeable. I would definitely recommend this place to others and would stay here again.
We had 3 young adults in their 20's and middle aged couple for a week at
This house. Plenty of room and all decor was tasteful. Kitchen was a little
Small, but great for our breakfast. Plenty of restaurants, bars, live music
Marina, shops, and ferry within walking distance. We would choose this place
We spent 5 days in this beautiful city, Newport, Rhode Island. The house was very well located, close to everything, so nice, spacious, comfortable and well kept!!. Everybody in our party loved it. It was very clean and they offered us a basket with treats on our arrival!! We would love to come back one day....Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have a great vacation with our family!
