About Katherine

I fell in love with Austin while attending University here. I left briefly with work -- got back to Austin as soon as I could!

Katherine purchased this house in 2002

Why Katherine chose Oakmont Heights

This house was purchased for its location relative to everything Austin, along with the retro 1940's neighborhood appeal. The easy, laid back charm of the house and neighborhood remain, but now include featured artworks, and high tech convenience and entertainment -- WIFI, hi-def flat screen TVs, cable and DVR service!

What makes this house unique

Highlights that we enjoy and are yours to experience include gathering around the kitchen island, the feel of the wood floors under your feet, and hanging out in the backyard around the fire pit on cool evenings.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you. We really enjoyed our stay!

Cozy and comfy central Austin stay!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the 38th street home. Katherine was wonderful. Always on top of communications and easy to reach though we didn't need to. The home is very comfortable and cozy inside. We travelled with our two kids so the two bedrooms were ample space for us. We appreciated the coolness upon our arrival in very hot late July. The whole home was very clean and smelled good when we walked in each time. The shower was strong and never ran out of hot water -- which was important since we four took several showers a day due to the extremely hot weather! The beds were both comfortable. I always go for a place that has at least one king size bed. The third bedroom is set up as an office with a couch and media center. I guess that couch unfolds to a bed to sleep two more. Note that this is only accessible through the master bedroom. Great for kids staying in there but not for another couple. The kitchen was well stocked, easy to heat up food in and had a wonderful backyard view from the dining table. I thought the cost was better than other places I viewed in the same area. And, we took advantage of being walking distance from our favorite, Kirbey Lane Cafe!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your stay Janet. For your next visit, feel free to take advantage of either the Queen sleeper in the private media room or the Queen sleeper in the living room. Both have deluxe memory foam mattresses - super comfortable.

Our Great Christmas holiday

  • 5 of 5

We spent 10 days, including Christmas and New Years, and loved every moment.

The house is just as the pictures depict. There were two couples staying at the house. The kitchen was perfect, we made & decorated a large gingerbread house and cookie tree, cooked a goose for Christmas, and two amazing desserts to mention a few things. We ate at the house every meal except for two. We felt that the location was covenient to everything important in Austin.

The neighborhood was very quiet and we always felt safe.

Katherine, was very responsive during the entire process of reviewing the property, renting, and then during our stay.

The location was perfect for us, and one of the couples loved the house so much that they wanted to transport it back to their current home town

Katherine even made extra efforts to help us with the bathroom, because one guest had a walker. That was very special.

I would highly recommend staying with Katherine, and we would return the next time that we are in Austin.

Perfect location for us in Austin!!!

  • 5 of 5

This rental was perfect for us. We have stayed in Austin numerous times, mostly south of Town Lake, but one of our daughters moved, recently to the northern side of town, off of Anderson, and our other daughter lives in Hyde Park. We were five min from her, though she will be moving to the southwest area soon. Being, literally, ONE BLOCK, from MOPAC was super convenient for us and makes getting anywhere so easy. The location is loaded with restaurants, shopping, grocery store etc. We loved it. You can walk to several places. The house is VERY clean and comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Nice, fenced back yard with new fire pit, though we did not use it. Katherine was very helpful and responsive, right from the start. We had a little problem with hot water, at first, but she came right over and turned up the temp on the hot water heater and that took care of it!!!!! We hope to stay here again. It is a great central location for exploring Austin and nice to "come home" to!!!!!

Owner's Response: So glad you two were able to stay for a visit with daughters. It is wonderful knowing you were able to enjoy taking care of your grandson in your own space - fun for you and a nice break for parents. It is also great knowing your grandson slept through the night for the first time in my home! The pack n play is great for baby sleeping. I look forward to hosting you all again soon for another family visit.

Great location, easy communication, sweet home!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Katherine for your sweet home! I love how centrally located it is and easy to get to from the freeway. It is clean, easy to communicate with you, and I loved the little media room and angled toilet! How fun! You really take the extra care to make sure your guests feel welcome.

when there is not love there is not beauty

  • 1 of 5

"The true is always a good answer" Sorry katherine, but your house is the worst house, that we have ever stayed in the world.

Forget about a welcome basket with fruit, 6 small bottles of water to refresh yourself after the trip. Perhaps that is very expensive but what about a welcome note!! Not in your dreams in this house.

¿The house has everything? that is true but very outdated, you do not feel at home... when we arrived almost at one o'clock in the morning, the house was not clean, the towels were in the washer machine.

Staying in this house like staying at uncle's Bob's, Picture this, everything there is outdated and not confortable at all.

Everyhting is bad? NO, this house is perfect for young people that they do not care about cooking or feeling at home......They just want to have fun and a place to crash.

Katherine the house is in a prime location, is time to renovate the whole house; specially the beds and you can make a lot of money but please put passion in your business. Is sad and disgusting when you open the pantry and you are afraid to put your food inside, I do not want to talk about the refrigerator is a classic.

Please katherine this feed back is for your own good!! I understand that you are in shock, angry, rejecting my words but please accept what I say and find a good architect, or just walk to the corner of your street and ask your neighbor who built his super nice home.

Please stop renting this house for families that they really want to have a home experience, away from their home.

By the way you never answer my question and I forgot a book and my mail in your house. For sure you have not been there just the maid, which by the way, you should fire him or her, with out hesitation.

Last but not least the VRBO business is great business therefore do not be afraid to put money in your house you will get every dollar back and more.

Passion is the key!
