About Leslie Fernandes

My husband and I love vacationing in the mountains and have visited many different mountain towns, but when we came across Maggie Valley we fell in love with this quaint town. We searched long and hard for a perfect log cabin and here it is, Creekside Hideaway! I am sure that you will enjoy this log cabin as much as my family does!

Leslie Fernandes purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Leslie Fernandes chose Maggie Valley/Waynesville Area

There's nothing more relaxing than spending time in the mountains. When my husband and I came across Maggie Valley we fell in love with the area and ended up buying a vacation home there. Maggie Valley is perfect location close to unlimited activities for the whole family, including shopping, sightseeing, outdoor adventures, Ghost Town in the Sky Amusement Park and even hitting Harrah's Casino.

What makes this cabin unique

My husband and I searched many homes in the mountains and it was hard finding the perfect one that would also offer a place where our kids could play outside. Most mountain homes are on a steep incline that is not conducive for kids to play outside. But our property has a gradual slope and a large yard where our kids enjoy playing. You can sit on the large covered deck which offers views and sounds of the creeks or take a short walk to the creek! Our cabin is located on a large heavily wooded lot which offers privacy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I searched through lots of properties to find a rental that would be just right for preschool age kids & I am glad to report this property gets a 5 star rating! I was specifically looking for a mountain stream they could play in and be safe & Creekside Hideaway was perfect! The creek was lots of fun and the campfire area was another fun activity! The property is very convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway & the Great Smokey Mountains. The property owner also had many helpful options for hikes, waterfalls and the grocery stores. Everything we needed was in the cabin and we were quite comfortable. My grandkids are already asking when we can return. I will definitely return for another vacation.

This property is beautiful.

  • 1 of 5

Although this house was beautiful it lacked only one absolute necessity-Central Air Conditioning. There were ceiling fans but no a/c. We made the best of our sultry summer week. The house is secluded and the property is beautiful.

Beautifully located in the trees...so quiet!

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful place to call home while on vacation! We loved the quiet of the place and the feeling of being all alone, even though there are neighbors sprinkled throughout the woods and town is just down the hill. Nice washer and dryer made it handy to keep laundry done. The day bed on the second floor has plenty of room for an extra person. We were worried about the lack of A/C but opening all of the windows made it cool and pleasant day and night.

We had a little difficulty (took backing up once going and coming) getting a Crew Cab F-150 up and down the drive, but got easier as the week went on. I think a regular sized vehicle would be just fine!

Very Comfortable, Beautiful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in the Creekside Hideaway immensely. It was cool and quiet and provided all the comforts anyone could want. We took advantage of the hot tub and the fire pit one evening and slept very well both nights. It was close enough to the sights of the Great Smoky National Park, that we got to enjoy white water rafting on the Upper Pigeon River one day and hiking to Clingman's Dome the next. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Yes, the driveway is an adventure itself but totally worth it!

  • 5 of 5

I read plenty of reviews about the driveway and talked to the owner prior to the stay so I had a clear expectation. We were in a mini van and as you tip over the top (quite literally) it seems a bit scary. Once you have done it though it is not a big deal. We just put the van in low gear and took it slow...both up and down...and we did fine.Of course it was summer and winter driving may be different. Please don't let that stop you from renting this cabin though.

Our party consisted of two senior citizens, one adult and two children ages 9 and 12. The cabin accommodated us all with room to spare. It was clean (minus a few cobwebs but they don't bother us) and spacious. Opening the windows you could hear the creek and keep the cabin a comfortable temperature if needed. The kitchen had just about everything we could even think of needing...a huge assortment of dishes, pots and pans of every size, crock pots, a waffle maker (be sure to bring something to grease it with or it will stick), a pitcher, utensils galore and a stick for roasting hotdogs and marshmallows over the fire. There were plenty of paper products for our stay (4 days/3nights) and the washer and dryer had supplies too.

We loved exploring the creek, walking the road, sitting on the porch or by the fire, playing games and watching the resident squirrel who lives in the birdhouse on the back porch. Never got to see it come out but it would peek it's head out and then hide back in the birdhouse. The creek has mudpuppies and salamanders that the kids enjoyed watching. The hot tub was clean and warm upon our arrival but be careful...the cover is very heavy. We are not used to having a hot tub like this so after completely removing it the first time we decided to leave one side propped against the edge so we could slide it back when we were finished and it was easier. It was wonderful to sit in on cool mornings and evenings though so don't decide not to try it...you will be missing out!

You can see other houses from the cabin but rarely did we even notice them. The closest one is on the driveway side of the house and, quite frankly, we were never on that side unless we were going somewhere or coming back. You can see it clearly from the hot tub but a privacy screen has been added to that area so it didn't seem invasive. Again...this wasn't an issue for us...and we really like our space.

Overall it was wonderful! You won't regret renting this property!
