The island of Martha's Vineyard offers a vast variety of features and activities all encompassed in a compact location containing quaint New England towns, beautiful beaches, fishing/boating, golf fine restaurants, antique shopping, art galleries, prominent playhouse events all wrapped up in a down home atmosphere.
Property sits on a 1 acre wooded lot with a large deck. Perfect for outdoor entertaining and enjoying quiet moments with family, yet convenient to Edgartown (1 mile) and South Beach (2.5m). Within walking distance to Katama market for morning coffee or breakfast/lunch.
This property is in a great location. It feels somewhat secluded but still close to Edgartown. The pictures fairly represent the property and space. There are lots of "hang out" spaces which worked beautifully for our family of 4 (two adults, 2 children, ages 7 and 9). The grounds are large and private with a big deck, outdoor BBQ and shower. The boys had plenty of outdoor space to run around and play.
The indoor eating area was small. The table was too small for the four of us.
I am admittedly a clean freak and was disappointed with a dirty freezer and cupboards which contained food from prior guests. I would put this in the annoying column but not a deal breaker. I did notify the owner on our first day.
Our biggest watch out to prospective renters is in reference to the security deposit. Our security deposit was not returned until almost 6 weeks after our departure date despite the contract stating 14 days. Furthermore, we had to repeatedly request our funds back from the owner who offered many excuses and made us feel uncomfortable for asking him to follow the terms of the contract. For clarity, it has now fully been returned and there was never any discussion on claims for damages.
All in all, a pleasurable stay with a sour conclusion.
