About Mount Sunapee: In 1909, summer resident Herbert Welsh asked area residents to help save Mount Sunapee from lumbering operations. Through his efforts and the Society for Protection of New Hampshire Forests, 656 acers were acquired. This included the summit, Lake Solitude and almost the entire north side. By 1934, the Society has acquired 1,185 acres on the mountain, which was turned over to to the State of New Hampshire for a state park in 1948. On December 26, 1948 Mount Sunapee opened with the 3,300 foot North Peak single chair, three trails, two rope tows and the North Peak Lodge.
In 1953, a 2,500 foot Summit T-Bar was installed and in 1957, a poma lift was installed on what is now the Eggbeater slope. Between 1960 and 1963, the Elliot T-Bar, Summit double chair, Duckling double chair and J-Bar were installed. The base Lodge and Summit Lodge were both built in 1963, and the North Peak single was converted to a double chair.

We spent the month of September in this lovely, comfortable condo. The area is spectacular, especially in the fall with the leaves changing color and the cool, clean New England air. The condo is beautifully decorated and very well laid out. The beds are extremely comfortable and each bedroom has ample closet space. The bathrooms and kitchen are clean and well maintained. There is a downstairs bedroom-family room suite that’s great for kids. The owner has provided many extra amenities from beach towels and lawn chairs to a Keurig individual-cup coffee maker (if you’ve never used one of these before you’ll become addicted!). The condo has cable TV and high-speed Internet (important for us as it allowed us to run our business while enjoying the serenity of New England). The area surrounding the unit is peaceful and quiet.
The town of Quechee is small, but charming. Hot air balloons take off on a regular basis from the village green. There are great hiking trails and ski facilities close by. The town has several high-end restaurants, but also a good, inexpensive family-run restaurant (Sheppard’s Pie) that serves fresh, healthy food that you can eat there or take home. The Quechee Lakes Clubhouse also has very good food at reasonable prices. The town of Woodstock is about twenty minutes away with more restaurant choices and fun shopping. Also, about twenty minutes away is King Arthur’s Flour in Norwich, VT. The facility includes a cafe, cooking school and kitchen store – very fun if you’re into baking!
This condo is a great alternative to a hotel room if you are a skier, traveling with kids, or attending an event at nearby Dartmouth College. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. We had a wonderful stay and hope to come back again soon.
Cute countryside condo on top of Quechee Mountain Resort. Was great to put the toes up by the fireplace after hitting the slopes. We found the condo to be very clean and filled with all of the amnesties.
My family, including some young children, had a terrific weekend at this condo. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out, and everything we could need. Loved that there was a Keurig in the kitchen, and laundry available if needed. My kids loved the bunk room and the room next door with toys they could play with. The king size bed with down comforter was very comfortable and appreciated with some cold nights. Everything was clean and as described. The location is private and up a winding road, however still close to Quechee and West Lebanon for restaurants. We did not use the amenities at the Quechee Lakes Club, but it was only five minutes from the condo. Anytime I emailed the owner during the rental process, he got back to me promptly. Checkout process was easy, and we appreciated being able to get into the condo in the early afternoon after our drive. Thank you for a great weekend!
We have stayed twice at this well appointed townhome! Once in the winter and most recently in the summer. Both stays we were pleasantly surprised to find a welcome bottle of wine and a nice supply of Keurig coffee pods. The condo is super clean with high quality furnishings and very comfortable beds. We enjoyed the spacious living room with the cozy entertaining area and our kids had their own living space downstairs with games and TV.
Our winter rental was phenomenal (especially the ski in ski out aspect of this home. My kids got up before us twice and were out the door before we even had coffee…
Our summer rental was super peaceful and quiet, with lots of natural beauty in this secluded mountain top retreat. And the AC kept us cool during the day! The only complaint we had was that the coffee machine was not working; however the owner remedied this immediately by over-night shipping a new one to the club for us.
The comfortable living space and updated furnishings make this a 5 star rental - we would definitely return if the opportunity presents itself…
Thanks Christie Family !!!
Our experience at this condo was completely positive. Although we were there under less than ideal circumstances (my brother-in-law hospitalized at Dartmouth-Hitchcock) we still managed to enjoy the serenity and autumn beauty of the area. Condo was lovely, immaculate, and equipped with everything one might need. Made two wonderful dinners with the slow-cooker provided! The owner was more than pleasant and accommodating. We would rent again, no question. The area itself has much to offer, from restaurants to shopping to observing nature's wonders.....altogether, an excellent vacation choice.
We came to Quechee for a wedding and decided to extend our visit to have a little family vacation. This was the perfect condo to do just that. We have a 3 year old and a 6 month old and wanted a place we could call home and feel comfortable in. We brought a cooler and a big bag of food with the intention of eating most if not all of our meals in the condo. Our 3year old chose to sleep downstairs in the bunk room and it was either the lack of windows or the Vermont air, but our usually early riser (6am) slept until 7:30 most mornings! Thursday we spent most of the day at Lake Pinneo swimming and hanging on the playground. Friday we road tripped to the Woodstock Farmers Market and Hanover, NH, and Saturday morning we went to Sugarbush Farm - they have the best cheese! And thankfully, the rain held off for the wedding on Saturday night at the Quechee Inn.
It is true that the condo is a little secluded from 'downtown' Quechee, but it was a short 10 minute drive down the hill. The only down fall is there isn't a grocery or country store close by. This would be true if you stayed closer to the Quechee Country Club, so it didn't make a huge difference. If you do plan to eat most of your meals in the condo just be prepared to either bring food, stop on your way in, or take the better part of a morning or afternoon shopping. That aside, the condo provided everything we needed to prepare our meals, has very comfortable beds and even beach chairs to bring to lake pinneo! We hope to make this trip an annual one for our family.
