Overview

About the property

2-room studio w/ queen bed and pull-out couch, sleeps 3; full bath & kitchen.

A well-appointed studio apt on the 3rd floor of a historic brownstone built in 1899, this lovely, private space is filled with sunlight and offers stylish comfort at an affordable rate, a stone's throw from Manhattan. Fully equipped with linens, dishes, and comfortable furnishings, and brimming with historic charm, it boasts three large windows, an original decorative fireplace, brand new appliances, and claw-food bathtub with shower. Though cozy, it is well designed and can sleep 3 by virtue of a comfortable queen sized bed as well as a couch that pulls-out to be a double-bed. Perfect for a couple, small family or close friends. This Brooklyn neighborhood is charming and tree-lined, and the popular neighborhood cafe is a half-block away. Shopping, restaurants, and laundry are all within a short walking distance, and the subway station is a 5-min walk. A trip to Manhattan takes only 18 mins to downtown and 30 to Times Square.

Convenient New York Location: Three blocks from A express to Manhattan (15 mins to Wall Street, 35 to Times Square), ½ block to grocery store and laundromat, one block from coffee shop that is the heart of the neighborhood, one block from good bistro-style restaurant, nice wine shop around the corner, three doors down from small park with playground.

Completely Private Apartment Within A Real Home: This apartment is completely private, with locked door, on the top-floor of a townhouse occupied by a family (us). On rare occasions, guests may see us in the hallway (two parents, a 9-year-old, and a very friendly dog named Lucy), coming in or out of the building. Guests can feel free to ask questions about NYC or the neighborhood at any time, but are also assured of privacy.

Payment: 1/2 Payment will be expected prior to the start of the vacation and the remainder of the payment upon arrival. Payment may be made online, through PayPal, or (if time allows) by check via postal mail.

Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be given if reservation is canceled 30 days in advance. At 15 days, 1/2 of the amount will be refunded. After that, the deposit is no longer refundable.

Why Leecia & Mike chose Brooklyn

The great location and original historic details of this house were what sold it.

What makes this apartment unique

It's a wonderful thing to be so close to Manhattan, and yet able to come home to what feels like a little village in leafy Brooklyn.

wonderful home away from home

  • 5 of 5

I just came from a week spent at this wonderful little apartment, and I can't say enough good things about it. I was working in Manhattan - starting very early each morning, and working long, exhausting days - and having this charming place to come home to every night was invaluable. It is bright, clean, spacious, cozy, and so well-appointed - everything I could have needed was there for me. The subway station is a few short blocks away, and trains to Manhattan run frequently and quickly - I was in Chelsea within 25 minutes of walking out the front door. The neighborhood is friendly and quiet, with trees everywhere and shops just around the corner, and my hosts were friendly and welcoming while still allowing me my space. Absolutely perfect. There is nothing quite like spending a day soaking in all the excitement and energy of Manhattan, and then curling up with a cup of tea and a good book on a comfy sofa in a beautiful space to bring the day to a close. I hope to be back soon.

The studio is confortable and hosts are very nice

  • 4 of 5

We had a good experience in this studio. It is as is described in the page and looks as in the photos. We were three adults and we knew it would be a small place but it was not bad at all, we enjoy most of our time in the city and use the place to sleep, have dinner and breakfast. The studio is well equipped, and the hosts were nice and helpful but without been intrusive (perfect combination). The only downside is the time that takes you to reach the centre, although is very well communicated by subway it is true that it requires time to move, but NYC is a big city and this is normal. We also had only two cockroach visitors because we got couple of very humid days, but we know that this is also very common in NYC and the host immediately offer to clean the bathroom again. The house was very clean otherwise. The bed was confortable, the sheets and towels were very clean. The shower is a bit challenging as you really have to climb to get in. Toilet paper and other basic utilities were provided. Both check in and check out were very easy to arrange and in both cases we were able to leave our suitcases in the house and we even got to enter before the check in time (thanks!).

In general we had a great time in the studio, everything was as we thought it would be, and really enjoyed our vacation in NYC!

Darling apartment, beautiful location, the best hosts

  • 5 of 5

When we walked into the apartment we were in love with the space, so light airy and with amazing windows. Leecia made us feel right at home, gave wonderful advice and directions and made our stay great! We loved the area we stayed in and the access to the metro was so close! It was a perfect place for our NYC adventure and we would love to return again some day!

Lieu agréable

  • 3 of 5

Simple but quite charming

  • 4 of 5

For us this was a real Brooklyn experience. Staying in an upper level brownstone in Brooklyn. The furnishings were quaint a bit retro. The bathroom tiny but with a beautiful tub. (Maybe a bit hard to get in and out off for some.)

The surrounding neighbourhood had a couple of recommended restaurants which we ate at and they were quite good.

A little beyond the closer streets I felt uncomfortable walking at night returning from a broadway show. It was the latest we stayed out and this restricted our nights. We made sure we returned not to late.

The owner was very accommodating as we arrived very late.

I really did enjoy our stay and am the first to admit that I felt no aggression off any sort but it was all new for me.

This studio is on the top floor of a historic brownstone in the Stuyvessant Heights area of the Bedford-Stuyvessant neighborhood of Brooklyn. With tree-lined blocks of Victorian brownstones and churches, this lovely residential area is full of friendly neighbors and historic charm . An impressive hybrid of urban and residential, it exemplifies elegant city living as designed in the late 1800's. Rich in African-American history and architectural beauty, it offers restaurants, shopping, groceries, playgrounds, and above all else, a convenient 18-minute subway ride to Manhattan. Close proximity to other notable Brooklyn attractions, such as Prospect Park and other dynamic Brooklyn neighborhoods like hip Williamsburg and classic Park Slope, add to the appeal. Overall, a good affordable home base from which to explore New York City easily while having a calm, cozy place to return to each day.
