Whispering Pines is located on Fidalgo Island. It is about a five minute drive from La Conner and about a fifteen minute drive from Anacortes. The home is between Martha's Bay and Similk Bay near Hope Island. From Anacortes you can take a ferry to the San Juan Islands or to Victoria BC.
You can also enjoy great restaurants and gift shops in both La Conner and Anacortes both truly great destinations. Also nearby is Deception Pass Bridge a must see, and two wonderful state parks Bowman Bay and Deception Pass Parks. There are also many fresh water lakes and views as far as the eye can see at Mount Erie Lookout.
Enjoy the tulip Festival in La Conner in March and April along with the quilt walk show. And festival throughout the year.

Elisabeth & Thomas Freeland We vacationed in this area from Arizona for ten years before making the move to Fidalgo Island. It was love a first sight. We have a beautiful store in Anacortes called Elisabeth's Cottage By The Sea which we run year round. We sell jewelry, beads, wine, gift items and much more. We also give silversmithing and bead classes. The store is located at 619 Commercial Ave.
Elisabeth & Thomas Freeland purchased this house in 2009
We purchased this home because it is such a peaceful and quiet area with an amazing water view. We love being on the deck and enjoying watching the eagles, herons and boats go by. The house is on .72 of an acre so it feels very secluded. It has many pines trees, and is truly magical when the wind blows through the pine trees. Hence the name 'Whispering Pines'. One of the most amazing things about this area is that there are no city lights around and the stars are much brighter because of it. Take a sleeping bag outside in the backyard and enjoy stargazing.
Whispering Pines is a 3 bedroom 2 bath home with a living room looking out to the water and islands. It also has a family room with a great entertainment center to enjoy movie night with the whole family. The dining room seats 10 at the 8 foot long table that also looks out to the view and leads to the great deck. There is a bar b que on the deck for those outdoor cookouts.
There was a group of 8 ladies (friends and their Mommas). We had a lovely time! Wine on the back porch with a beautiful view, plenty of sleeping room, and everything we needed to cook up a storm. Plenty of towels and bedding, although the beds were very firm, we all had a place to call our own. We went a mile up the road to Snee-oosh Point and walked on the beach. It was a great Gals Weekend! I would recommend this place to groups.Thankyou!!
We loved the waterfront view from Whispering Pines, and it was even warm enough to sit out on the deck a little in late afternoon when the sun was out. The house was clean and spacious, although fairly outdated in some respects. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen fairly well equipped. We experienced a lot of ants in both washrooms and had to try to keep them at bay. One thing we found to be very antiquated was the system for having to drive 12 miles to be able to pick up the key for the property. The instructions to leave all towels washed & dried before departing is a little inconvenient, leaving us with no towels to clean up with at the end. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.
Loved the view, the quiet location, and would totally stay here again
We reserved this house for a ladies weekend away. We weren't able to enter the home until 3 pm and the furnace had been off. It took about 5 hours to heat the home...needless to say we drank wine and puzzled in our down jackets. There are ants in the bathroom and laundry room...pretty harmless, but there none the less. The view was great and it's just a close drive to town.
The view is gorgeous and the place is comfortable. However. for what we paid, I agree with another reviewer that it needs some attention to details. The house was freezing cold when we arrived as the heat was off. It would have been nice if owners came earlier to turn on heat so not to have to wear our coats for 1+ hours while house warmed. The driveway is steep and has a couple large potholes, which we bottomed out in the Volvo sedan. The gas fireplace didn't work, and I don't recall that noted in the listing. There were cobwebs in the main shared bathroom, dirty BBQ utinsils left on the grill and half-wet/musty sheets in the washer (we washed them). The TV/DVD player in the main living room we couldn't figure out as there were 4 remotes and no instructions, but I think the DVD doesn't work anyway. It would have been nice to know since we got Redbox video to watch. We did end up using in the small living room but the TV was a small screen. Overall, we had a good weekend and certainly enjoyed the beautiful views, but I think it's a tad overpriced and adding twenty five/night for an additional person and a one hundred cleaning fee seemed high.
Great space roomy, we wish we could have had access to the water but there's no trespassing signs on both sides of the yard. Relaxing atmosphere. Difficult to drive down the hill with the RV parked partway onto their drive.
