Located 7 miles from the Green in Woodstock, this property is close to fine dining, sight seeing, shopping, hiking, mountain and road biking, downhill and cross country skiing or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery from the deck or by the fireplace. Quiet neighborhood off lightly traveled gravel town highway, Appalachian trail access a brisk 1-1/2 mile walk away. Pond on property for swimming or floating on supplied raft, stone bonfire rings provided next to pond and near cottage. Propane and charcoal grills provided.
Very private, long driveway off gravel town road, surrounded by forest and hay fields of 5th generation dairy farmer. Quiet neighborhood, house not visible from others (only distant lights at night) yet close to Woodstock,(15 minutes) and Hanover NH(40 minutes)
It's a cozy secluded cabin about 15 mins outside of woodstock. The road to the cabin climbs up some foothills and the place itself is perched on a nice piece of land overlooking the hills. We missed peak foliage which would be amazing here. But thats alright b/c we also missed the crowds. We visiting glass blowing studios, maple syrup farms, working dairy farms. You can get to quechee or woodstock in a flash or just go for walks along the babbling brook along the road. The cabin is simple and cozy and has everything you need for cooking, all towel and linens are provided. Wood stove in the fall really makes the place. Not to mention that the place is a steal for the area. Thanks Dwight
The property is located in a good location (about 15 minutes from Woodstock) on a very quiet road. It has a beautiful view of the sunrise. The house was well stocked with linens / towels. In the summer, the deck would be nice to sit on and the pond with the slide would be great for kids.
However, the cleaning staff (if any) leaves a lot to be desired. We had to vacuum when we arrived and the bathroom was not clean (the amount of dirt that came out of the bathmat was disgusting).
The cottage is situated on the shoulder of a hill, nestled in a wooded field alongside a brook and swimming pond. It is quiet and there is no traffic on the nearby dirt road. There is plenty of sunshine during the day and a regular fresh breeze. The cottage is snug and has a fieldstone fireplace that draws well, and the owner supplies plenty of wood. With three bedrooms and a Vermont slate tiled shower, the whole family can be comfortable. The kitchen is big enough for several cooks, and there are plenty of pots, pans, and utensils. On the deck which looks out over a field, there is a big, new stainless steel gas grill, and there is an outside firepit beside the cottage too. There is a washer/dryer that works efficiently to keep vacation clothes clean after country sport pursuits. We had a terrific time for 11 days, and the owner came by and was very kind and helpful. We give it 5 stars.
This cottage is a family favorite and has been for six years! It is the right amount of privacy while still being close to town. I look forward to this trip every year. the views are spectacular. The pond is a lot of fun and quite large. The owners are great and very accommodating. If you are looking for a good quiet place with the same comforts as home you will definitely find it here.
The property is very remote yet close all the attractions Woodstock has to offer. This is our 6th year staying at the cottage and its always a much anticipated part of the summer. The location is perfect where there is no view of any others but people are still nearby. The views of the mountains from the deck are picturesque and the yard is large enough for games. The pond is clear, clean and warm. The kitchen is large enough for full meals. We have slept up to 3 couples in comfort. There is a large living room area for the rainy days as well as a fireplace for the chilly nights. The fireplace is a great focal point for lounging. Right off the Appalachian trail. And close to a maple syrup stand.
