A Must Experience

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent the 1st weekend in December 2009 at this beautiful beach house. Our intentions were a weekend of clam digging for the very first time and had no idea what to expect. We did enjoy the clam digging and this location was very close to a clean and spacious beach called "Roosavelt Beach" and also just outside of a quaint little town called "Pacific Beach". It was night clam digging so during the day we toured the various sights and just had a wonderful time. The house itself was way beyond our expectations. The appliances were state of the art, even the kitchen utensils were top of the line. The view is out of this world and the wildlife was a daily scene from the living room. The beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The experience is one I will never forget and I tell all my friends about it! The owners are very generous and respectful. I highly recommend a stay here for the utmost vacation getaway you can find.

Ocean Creek Manor did not disappoint

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I take our grandsons on a Grands vacation every summer. We took a chance on Ocean Creek Manor and were not disappointed. This beach house met our high standards in terms of comfort, location and cleanliness. Typically, I pack all kinds of kitchen conveniences. I could have left everything at home because the kitchen was well-stocked with everything I needed. In a few reviews there are comments on the difficulty with beach access. Fortunately for us, we had low tides everyday and my grandsons and I were able to negotiate the boulder retaining wall and cross Joe's Creek to the beach with ease. On the other hand, my husband just had rotator cuff surgery. He simply drove a block to the beach access parking lot and met us there with our play day supplies.

I have two critiques. First, it's becoming commonplace for rental properties to be pet-friendly. In general because of my sensitivities to dogs it's a gamble for me to rent pet-friendly accommodations. When I read the rental contract, pet owners agree not to allow pets on the furniture. I felt reassured by this rental stipulation. Sadly, the couches smelled like animal. I couldn't sit on them. My last critique - even if the couches didn't smell like dog, I still couldn't sit on them. The couches are dilapidated and sorely in need of replacement. Despite this, I highly recommend this lovely place and would not hesitate to come back to Ocean Creek Manor.

One of the very best! =)

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this property for a 3-day weekend in June, 2016. Our friend rented the property a few months prior to our stay and had nothing but great things to say. We rent many different properties for all of our vacations short or long because we love our space and as I love to cook, we place emphasis on having a great kitchen to make our own for our stay. This house was beyond our expectations. The kitchen is comfortable with every small appliance, seasoning and utensil you would ever need for your stay. There are tons and tons of movies to watch when you need to unwind. The beds/bedrooms are very comfortable and each room has an amazing view.

We had 3 adults and two 9 year old boys who we could not convince to come inside the entire trip. Who can blame them?! They had an awesome time playing in the creek, skipping rocks, climbing trees and building mini “beaver dams”. =) Each morning, we would watch the sunrise over a cup of coffee and spy on the otters that frequent the creek.

We LOVED the tankless water heater as there were many showers taken due to the boys’ constant need to go to the state park or right in the back yard in the creek. The owner is very responsive and friendly. We’ve already been asked to provide the property information to other friends and we are already talking about returning in the next few months as well. Next time we will definitely need to stay longer!

My only suggestion would be to add curtains/drapes in the bedrooms that are thicker. Though I love falling asleep with the view, my kiddo and his friend were up by 6am each day as there was no way to block the sunlight coming in the windows. Not a complaint but merely my only suggestion.

Thanks for having us! We had a fabulous time!!

Little piece of paradise is right!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Ocean Creek Manor in July 2015, and it was an absolute joy! We loved everything about this house - every detail was thoughtfully considered, the property was immaculately maintained, the owner was very prompt and responsive to our questions and the view was incredible. While it is on the creek instead of the ocean, as other reviewers have pointed out, we actually preferred this and our son LOVED splashing in the water just outside the door. Fair warning that you might have a hard time falling asleep at night because the bedrooms all face out to the water and the incredible view is very distracting (in a good way!)! Nearby Seabrook is quaint and adorable and has one of the best restaurants nearby in Mill 109. I'd suggest making sure to bring food with you to cook for most meals, because there aren't a ton of grocery stores or quality restaurants in the area. All in all though, this was the perfect weekend away for us and we are already talking about when we can come back.

Great - For a variety of reasons

  • 5 of 5

We spent a long family weekend in this great house overlooking Joe Creek. It was really enjoyable - for many reasons. We had six adults, two kids, and two dogs. The house fit us comfortably with plenty of room. The kitchen was nicely furnished; appliances were top notch. The design and floorplan fit the activity of a family get-together nicely. (Great TV for watching the World Cup final, quiet bedrooms for early bedtimes after an active day)

The views were beautiful. Joe Creek is so fun to watch as the tide moves in and out. We were lucky to have low tides mid-morning and near sunset and we used those opportunities to wade across and walk on the beach. While I understand the comments in other reviews talking about less than easy walks to the beach, we found it to be a highlight of our stay.

We'll visit again.

Great time, a bit disappointed

  • 3 of 5

The house was great, views were awesome, very warm and inviting. Lots of stairs. Many beaches to visit via car. Let me just say and it needs to be said there really is no beach access and I say this from a fifty+ family with my 75 year old mother. The beach access consists of huge, huge rocks that make up extremely large steps that take you down to Joe Creek which you must cross to get to a walkable beach. We'll it's the crossing of Joe Creek that is the problem, unless you have on waders and don't mind slippery rocks. I actually almost made it across one day in my heavy duty rubber boots until I hit a deep spot and my boots filled up with water. So we resigned ourselves that we would take the car everyday for beach access.

Now don't get me wrong, this is a fabulous house and the owner could not have been nicer. I just think it should say really, really difficult beach access an then you really have to work for it. This is probably a really great house for a young family with kids that can swim across the creek, but for older people. ....not so much and if you are a elderly or have knee problems........this is not the house for you!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are always striving to make sure that our guest's stay is as enjoyable as possible. As mentioned in the description of our house, it is situated on the edge of Joe Creek, with a view of the ocean. The creek level changes with the high and low ocean tides, twice per day, as well as the time of year. When it is low enough to walk out to the beach, most guests walk around on the south side, as opposed to wading across to the north. There are times of the year when the water level is low enough to walk across, but the creek does have shallow and deeper pockets. When the creek is too high to walk to the beach from the house, there are other options. Either walking or driving to the neighborhood just south (there is a short path to the ocean at the bottom of the cul-de-sac), or driving into Pacific Beach, where there is access from the state park. Joe Creek is very unique, and our guests have enjoyed watching the activity of the tides as well as numerous types of wildlife right outside the window.
