About Diane Stevenson
This picture is of me and my dog, Amy (she is in "dog heaven" now), as we were resting on the large rock outcropping that overlooks the American River canyon on our way down the Pickering Bar trail.
Diane Stevenson purchased this House in 2005
Why Diane Stevenson chose Placer County
We bought this as our family compound, but as lives change, so did ours. Using this home as a vacation rental has helped me to finance my son's college education. I have also been able to donate weekly reservations to the numerous good causes, including the Down's Buddy Walk and numerous fund raisers for the families of Cancer patients. I move in myself when we have company from out of town and pretend that I am 'on vacation' too! It's great!
What makes this House unique
I love hiking down into the 'diggings', exploring the old gold mining areas, swimming in the mountain lakes, sitting in the spa under the stars and just enjoying the quiet solitude of this gorgeous and peaceful setting.

So Quiet and Cozy
This is our second visit to this property. We loved it so much! It's quiet, well stocked with everything you might need, has a great hot tub, and a great game room. The house is very comfortable and has a great mountain house feel to it.
Diane is a wonderful host. She is friendly, helpful and gives you absolute privacy. We'll definitely be back!
Exactly what we wished for!
We are a group of intelligent, chatty, but overall, calm group of women. We wanted a cabin in the woods to help celebrate my bachelorette weekend and the place was perfect! Plenty of space for the introverts to retreat to, spacious and full kitchen, wonderful spa, plenty of sunshine & outside sitting, and cozy beds. The DVD system wasn't working one evening, but Diane came in and fixed it for us!
We also explored nearby Colfax, hiked around the gorgeous property, and swam out in Rollins Lake. Lovely, LOVELY weekend and a great host!
I did manage to get several bug bites around one eye while sleeping, but that is nobody's doing but nature. And we wanted nature!
Thank you, Diane!
Wonderful place. Could not have been better.
The owner was fantastic. We felt so welcome and the family enjoyed the stay to the fullest!
Cozy, healthy, lovely place.
Well-appointed--kitchen equipped with everything. Tons of towels, blankets, beds, pillows, books, games, puzzles. Stunning natural surroundings. Lovely host.
We had a wonderful time in a clean, fully stocked house with a friendly and generous owner! Thank you again!!
great get away
We had a lovely relaxing weekend with the dog. The property is set up with everything you need, incredibly comfortable and peaceful retreat in the woods near the river and plenty of hiking. It was exactly what we needed!
Numerous local hiking trails to old gold mining areas, Canyon Creek, the Pickering Bar trail, the American River canyon, much local history and ponds for exploring or swimming, less than 10 min. to Rollins Lake. Great location for a small wedding, retreats, a family reunion or just a quiet get-away for two. Private, quiet and peaceful!
