Mariposa Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

This is a ten acre property nestled in the foothills of Yosemite bordered by a 1300 acre timber preserve. It has two homes on it, a three bedroom (currently occupied year-round)and this cabin that sit approximately 600 feet apart. It has a natural spring and numerous mature Ponderosa pine, oak (several varieties) and cedar trees. Wild berries grow here seasonally near the spring runoff and seasonal creek.

It's not unusual to see a deer or several on the property (even does with their fawns) or a group of wild turkeys with their chicks grazing the fence line. You may just end up spending all of your time here catching up on reading, artwork, photography or even writing that novel you've always wanted to; the scenery and quiet are inspirational.

About Alaina

We(my husband and I) purchased this property as a retirement location. With its additional main house we thought it would be a perfect place to relax and enjoy our time. The air here is an important factor as we are from Southern California and can really appreciate the good clean air this location has to offer. We are horse enthusiasts and hoped to find some nice trails here in Mariposa, not to mention the good neighbors.

Alaina purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Alaina chose Yosemite Area

This cabin was originally built to accommodate the former owner while they built their larger home on the east end of the property. We sought out a property with a nice location for friends and family to enjoy their privacy while visiting us here. This cabin has the perfect setting with a huge old oak tree right out the front door and a small meadow where the seasonal creek pools before it runs any further. It never really occurs to us that it is only a one bedroom because there is so much else about this property to enjoy.

What makes this cabin unique

We are living on the property out of sight of the cabin but our horses are between us and the cabin so we are up and down daily. Although we live on the property, we still enjoy the serenity and beauty of this spot, we understand why the original builder/owner took over a year to move to the main house when it was completed. We moved here from a much busier place and are just amazed at how easy it is to adjust to moving here, it is like a vacation every day here.

Fantastic vacation cabin!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about the Lower Meadow Cabin in the foothills of Mariposa that my wife and I stayed in. The property was clean and exactly as described online. Alaina was very helpful and maintained excellent communication with us. We had no problems with utilizing the available amenities (wifi, kitchen, bedrooms, heaters) and there is a binder when you walk in that has all of the info you need. We took a few day trips to Yosemite which wasn't too far away and it was nice to come back to the cabin after a day in the snow at the park. We found good eating in town at the Sugar Pine Cafe and I also recommend the Miner's Roadhouse 140 restaurant. We took a moment to shop in town at Past and Present Mercantiles (small consignment-style shop) which has a little of everything you might enjoy. We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect spot for an amazing vacation

  • 5 of 5

The cabin has everything you will need to spend your quite peaceful vacation days near Yosemite. It's beautiful inside and out, in late December the surrounding was covered in snow, the night was clear and starry, and the cabin was warm and cozy. It has plenty of place including a living area with couple of couches, a dining table to fit a family, a fully equipped kitchen, and a cozy comfortable bed. There's also ample storage area. It was very clean and tidy when we arrived, everything was in perfect order. The drive to Yosemite valley was scenic, and on the way there was a Chevron gas station with a little store that has nice selection of household items in case you forgot to bring something. I had few questions before my arrival, the owner was very quick in responding to my emails and phone calls. I'll definitely recommend this place.

Tips to fellow travelers:

- If you are driving in winter, make sure you have snow chains unless you are driving a 4WD with snow tires. It was required in Yosemite at both Wawona entrance and valley entrance.

- The turn to Triangle Park road from Triangle road is quite sharp, and the service road might be covered in snow. Please take necessary precautions.

- Please go through the instruction manual on the living room table for wifi setup. Do Not try the wifi network (SSID) name or password you will find on the router.

- There's a box with TV remotes that has instructions to set up the TV.

- The kitchen sink doesn't have a garbage disposal.

- There's a coffee machine and a grinder, bring your coffee beans if you enjoy freshly ground coffee.

Quiet, Peaceful, and Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the lower medow cabin. It was nice to come back to after hiking in Yosemite everyday. We got to see deer at the cabin each morning and evening. The cabin had everything we needed and the owner was awesome in responding to my questions before arrival. We had a 45-60 minute drive to the park everyday but the drive is scenic and enjoyable and the owner had let us know of the drive time before we booked. We had breakfast one morning at the Happy Burger Diner and diner one night at the Pizza Factory in Mariposa. I would recommend both. The Pioneer Market was also a good market for groceries. I would recommend this cabin to anyone and would stay here again.

Quiet and Relaxing!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this cabin! The home was spacious, well equipped, and very clean. The surrounding property was private and quiet, which made it very relaxing for us. We saw deer on the property daily, and very much enjoyed the serenity this cabin provided.

Cozy, Clean, and Relaxing Place!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this cabin a lot! My husband and I spent Labor Day weekend over there. The location was perfect for us. We love road trips, so we didn't mind the 45-60min drive to Yosemite park. In fact, it was wonderful! Also, the cabin was extremely clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Check in and booking was super easy. Overall, great experience for our first time renting someone else's home. I will highly recommend staying here.

Exactly what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

Although the cabin was about an hour away from Yosemite park, the drive to/from the park was beautiful! We saw several deer along the way, and the scenery was one of a kind. The cabin itself was spacious, clean, and provided all amenities one would need. The owner communicated extremely well. I would recommend this stay to anyone!
