Overview

About the property

House, 2 BR, 1 BA, Along the creek, Ideally sleeps 4.

This charming setting and cottage has become known as the first home built along the creek.

There are numerous traces and remnants of historic Capitola hidden, but still remaining in this old beach town. This unit is one of them and is available to be rented anytime of year. Take advantage of these great seasonal rates!

Recently renovated, this cozy historic 2 bedroom 1 bath riverfront cottage is located in the heart of the Capitola Village. You can enjoy this peaceful habitat setting, relaxing in the most spacious yard, or on the deck overlooking the coastal wildlife along the banks of Soquel Creek. Certainly, walking a two-minute trail stroll to Capitola’s most popular beach, wharf, shopping, bars & restaurants is an option as well. This furnished beach cottage is in an ideal location and provides the perfect retreat for a family or friends.

This sweet craftsman is in the shape of a duplex now that does share 1 wall and the front patio. However, it has not lost it's original and historic charm. To whom will you be sharing the wall with? Well, a very nice tenant who has complete understanding that we rent our side unit during the summer. The tenant keeps to themselves and you may see a glimpse of him/her coming and going. Situated in the Riverview Terrace neighborhood, you will feel like you have a very private setting. We have been renting for numerous years now and have yet to have any issues with this arrangement.

This is a great place for a couple or small family that want to enjoy this great little village without hassle! Relax on the deck with a drink overlooking the creek. Cuddle up with your honey or with your loved ones while taking in the smells and sounds of this coastal riperian corridor.

About Robin Wirth

I very much enjoy living in Capitola for it has much to offer. There are sandy beaches to walk on, surfing and fishing in the ocean, and hiking and biking in nearby forests.

Being a general contractor means working outside a lot. This area has some fog in the summer months, that really makes for a comfortable climate. I like to build and work on homes. More recently, I have built a number of decks and fences using redwood and bamboo harvested sustainably from the Santa Cruz area.

One thing I hear about Capitola that holds truth, 'Once you come here, you will always come back.'

Robin Wirth purchased this house in 1976

Why Robin Wirth chose Central Coast California

Capitola is a great place to live along the coast . In only a little over an hour by car and you can be in San Francisco or Monterrey/Carmel.

Being within walking distance of the beach has ethereal advantages. There is nothing else like the sounds of the waves lapping or crashing along the shoreline. There always seems to be an influx of aquatic life that beckons into this bay's region during the summer months. Whale watching and fishing has been epic in recent years and is just a walk to the wharf and a boat ride away.

I like to think that the beach is close enough to enjoy the excitement, yet far enough away when it is time for quietude.

What makes this house unique

This craftsman home is the first house to be built along Soquel Creek. The view across the creek makes you feel like you are in the forest, yet the ocean is also visable beneath the train trestle and Stockton bridges.

Far enough away from the traffic, there is a subtle peacefulness. Some large trees provide shade. There is a spacious driveway for parking and large creek side yard with a redwood deck and benches for relaxing.

Being along the creek allows viewing of a wide variety of waterfowl. The beach is within a two-minute walk along a foot path that provides a straight shot to the beach.

Great fun Capitola Village experience

  • 4 of 5

Since we had a beach house in the village for over 10 years, we really appreciate being within walking distance to the beach and the esplanade. This house is right on the Soquel Creek by the train trestle so it doesn't get much better than this. Once you park you walk everywhere.

This unit was very clean and comfortable.

Enjoyable..

  • 5 of 5

Our over all experience was great. The property is small but accommodated 4 adults and one toddler nicely. Our son in law is 6'5" and the bathroom was a little tight for him. The property is located in a perfect spot for walks and walking trips to town and beach. The deck in the back yard is very sunny and the deck by the river is very quiet and relaxing. Good spot for watching birds and paddle boards and kayaks. The property is well stocked with everything you need and clean. The neighborhood is very quiet, friendly and laid back. Yes I would recommend this place to friends. (Not really. I want if for myself)

Mr. Toots coffee shop is must in the mornings and on down to the beach, and I love the St. John 2nd hand shop. We did most of our own cooking and snacking at the house.

Cozy and Comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to get away. Very clean and cozy. So great to be so close to downtown. Love staying on the Riverwalk. We brought friends for their first visit to Capitola. It was rainy but still beautiful. Had a great weekend. Would highly recommend this place to friends. I would love to keep it a secret so it won't be booked when I want to go but it is too beautiful not to share. Loved our stay at the Capitola Nook. Can't wait to plan our next weekend get away.

Sweet Capitola Spot

  • 4 of 5

We gathered for a girls' birthday weekend and enjoyed the cottage and the location very much. We felt right at home in the pleasant comfort of the cottage, casual but nicely appointed and all the necessities. Simple and sweet. We enjoyed walking all around the village for meals and shopping, sunrises and fireworks. Wonderful welcome feeling.

Great vacation house

  • 5 of 5

Loved the property, especially the deck and backyard. Location on river and short walk to beach made it ideal. Living room and kitchen was a little cozy but we had a wonderful time. Property manager and owner were wonderful and very accommodating. Thank you for making our vacation great.
