Second floor rental includes sunny bedroom with loads of closet space, full bath, private mini refrigerator and a coffee maker in a beautiful, architecturally-designed, modern, owner-occupied house in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Featured in the New York Times, and Modern Shoestring: Contemporary Architecture on a Budget.
The suite is in a three bedroom modern home, all immaculate and brand new, central AC, wireless Internet, washer/dryer, and backyard Japanese garden, all bathed in sunlight on a friendly residential street. House is owned by a filmmaker and university professor, and his partner, a fine artist. Second floor renters are welcome to use the 1st floor kitchen for breakfast. Unfortunately, at this time we can not accommodate more elaborate cooking or dining in our kitchen and dining room.
This is the second time we stayed with David Peterson. Each time we found both him and the accomodations very pleasant. I'd recommend this bedroom and bath to anyone, and will stay there again if the occasion arises.
We loved our stay here. Listing was as described (looked a little different than the photos, but still beautiful). The suite was clean, comfortable, and well-designed. Park Slope is a wonderful and charming neighborhood -- and it was easy to hop on the subway a few blocks away and head in to the city. David was great, easy to communicate with and very accommodating. There was a slight mixup with our arrival time, but it was not an issue. Highly recommended. Thank you!
Peaceful, quiet, beautifully designed retreat in a convenient location. Wonderful dog, gracious hosts.
David & Darina are interesting people and good hosts. They provided clean, nice accommodations with the 2nd floor suite. We did bring to David's attention the lumpy bed & that it needs to be replaced which he was eager to correct. Same with the musty towels. Lovely garden & Mya the dog is gentle & a sweetie. Thank you David & Darina! We look forward to staying with you next time we visit our son!
We have stayed here several times and it has always been a positive experience. Very clean and attractive with all the things you need - a small refrigerator, coffee maker and ironing board. There are plenty of shelves in the bedroom and bathroom so you can unpack and be comfortable. David is very friendly and so is his beautiful dog. Maya. Nice area with lots of good restaurants.
Wonderful home, and the great pictures on this site still do not do this architectural pearl the deserved justice. You will not find better unobtrusive hosts! We admittedly were skeptical to co-habitate (first time doing so) but upon walking in the door .... We both realized we had made the correct decision! Safe community, ample parking, great restaurants close by ... What more can you ask for. We will certainly be back soon.
The neighborhood of Park Slope, Brooklyn, is a slice of real New York. Brooklyn has been referred to as 'the Paris of New York' with shady trees, boutiques, shops, restaurants, and many cultural sites including The Brooklyn Art Museum, The Brooklyn Botanical Garden, and historic Greenwood Cemetery. The house is located at 18th Street and 8th Avenue, on a lovely tree-lined block, 5 blocks from the F line subway, Prospect Park, and numerous shops and restaurants.
Other Activities: Wildlife viewing, shopping. Near Brooklyn Art Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, and Prospect Park.
