About this property

New Construction farmhouse w/ Jacuzzi, loft and old rustic appeal

Clemontine’s – Welcome to our new construction home built in the foot print of our grandmothers old home and on family land in gorgeous Western NC. While we couldn’t preserve her house, you will see some aspects of the old homeplace still intact, like the springhouse, the smokehouse, corn crib and the old grapevines still on the property. We also tried to incorporate some materials from the old house as well, an old door for a headboard in the Master bedroom, an old single bed frame in bedroom 2, tin roofing as old barn doors in various places, multiple old chest of drawers, old vanity repurposed, china cabinet repurposed, the old oil drum made a great love seat on the back porch, several other old doors as a coffee table and hall tree, some old windows and various other odds and ends. The home is in a great location in the Fruitland Area of Hendersonville, NC, with close access to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Park, Biltmore Estates and Asheville, NC. The home is located near popular apple orchards (Justus Orchard) as well as Dupont State Park. So whether you want to get outdoors to hike, fish or Mtn bike, or visit the local breweries/Wineries (Burntshirt Vineyards) or shops downtown, we hope you will enjoy our little mountain getaway.

The home offers 2 bedrooms and 2 ½ baths. The master suite offers a king size bed and master bath with separate tub and shower with dual vanity. The upstairs loft offers a twin bed and full bath, along with a futon that could be used for sleeping as well. Linens and towels are provided.

The home comes complete with a fully stocked kitchen with new stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops. Dishwasher and coffee maker are available.

A couch and chair round out the living space featuring a 65” TV and gas logs.

Fire pit, outdoor seating with Mtn views and a Jacuzzi Hot Tube are your items of choice for relaxing outdoors.

Great house with lots of privacy and space
When we arrived at the property it was better than advertised. It had plenty of space and was private. A perfect location for a getaway weekend. The house was super clean and felt cozy. The amenities on property were all as expected. The owner was very communicative, and we were able to purchase an extra day through communication with the owner. We would definitly stay here again.

This is a great place tonstay
Cameron has done a fantastic job with this house. It is beautifully updated but he has incorporated several items from his grandmother’s home place. This is the house that I want to build when I retire!

NC Cabin Getaway
The cabin was perfect. Uniquely decorated and well appointed. The location was close to the town, but the cabin was situated in a very tranquil setting. Our hosts were outstanding and made sure our stay was memorable. We will be back, and can't wait to book our next visit.

About the host

Hi, I'm your host and grew up on this property as a child. This was my grandmothers old home place. We tore it down in the spring of 2020 and built a similar structure right back in its place and closed on the final product in Oct 2021. We tried to incorporate lots of the old history and memories from way back when, browse around and see what you can find. Currently I reside in Lincolnton NC with my wife (Kim) and 4 children: Lizzie 9, Bryce 16, Brooke 18, Breyden 20, and "Silver" the dog, a 3-year-old Aussie Doodle. Once Kim and I become empty nesters we will move back to the property and family land listed here and enjoy God's creation.

If I'm not towing a child to or from school or some sort of ball practice I am usually running, biking or swimming as my hobbies consist of competing in triathlons, swim/run events or any type of individual events that challenge the mind and body; Ironman's, half Ironman's, 100-mile bike rides, etc. I'm self-employed and own Racing Toes Inc, an event timing company that times and host 5k's, 10k's, bike races and any type of endurance event that requires timing. We have been timing events for about 12 years now and prior to Covid we would time about 80+ races a year. I also run a pressure washing business called H2Oooh Mobile Wash. We focus on residential and commercial soft and high pressure washing. I enjoy being outside and staying busy but am looking forward to slowing down in the next few years and enjoying our mountain property at 134 Beddingfield Hill Ln. Thanks for joining us.

Why they chose this property

Why this property? Well, we think new is always nice. This home was finalized in Oct 2021 and was a site built new construction project. We really enjoyed being part of the process and watching the transformation daily. It's kind of a bitter sweet moment. My grandparents Donald and Clemontine Beddingfield established the old home place with about 16 acres back in the 1930's. They had 3 daughters and my dad, Gene. The house was a very rustic farm home and suited its times with an old out house (no plumbing until the late 1980's, a spring house in which they drew water to drink, cooked and cleaned with an old corn crib and smoke house. All still standing today. Several structures were not salvageable like the old chicken coop and wood shed but bring back such fond memories. As kids, we would tromp the land hunting squirrels, digging up crayfish in the spring creek, helping out with the farm animals (chickens, cows, horses, etc.). But the best memory of all is that our entire family would always meet on Sunday after church for a big home cooked meal. Clemontine was the best cook ever. A Sunday lunch would consist of fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, corn bread, desserts and all types of jellies all from the land they tended. We never missed a Sunday lunch as we knew family was all we had and how important that bond was and being together. Although some homemade ice cream helped out a little. You'll understand if you ever had to sit atop that churn. My grandparents farmed and I think my generation is the last to understand all the hard work that truly went into surviving back in those days. Clemontine canned about anything that could be canned out of the garden, she sewed and mended the kids' clothes and quilted blankets and heated the home with wood. I value that generations work ethic. I wanted to honor them by incorporating and preserving some of the history into our new home. You can read more about some that history below.

What makes this property unique

These might not be unique for you but are great reminders for me and my family. As you drive up the drive the old spring house (on the right) should catch your attention and still functions today. Closer to the new house as you park, you should identify the double seater out house (on the left), the smoke house with a repurposed door (white) from the old home straight ahead. Back to your left up on the hill by the grape vines, the corn crib. All these structures were important and used daily for my grandparents. Some items inside are from the old home place too. You will notice that each walk-in closet has an old chest of drawers. The 2 sliding barn doors (master bath and pantry) is the tin from the old roof. Did you notice the master bed's head board and post? How about the (3) old windows scattered throughout the home? The China cabinet in the kitchen and vanity upstairs have been repurposed. The old single bed frame in the upstairs bed room was used by my dad as a child (this has been replaced with a full bed frame and mattress). How about the wine glass holder? Don't forget to relax on the love seat on the back porch. That's the old oil drum used for heating. Last but not least, the rock retaining wall that offers the fire pit and steps that lead up to the grapes and corn crib was built by my dad and I (not masons for sure) but we wanted to utilize the rocks from the old foundation. We just finished up the 16 x 14 outdoor pavilion. We used old barn wood to slat the roof and we think it turned out pretty nice. Our plans for Spring of 2023 is a U Cut Flower Farm in the lower farm acreage by the creek. We just planted about 500 bulbs that will pop in the spring and ordered about 10 pounds of all season flowers to be put in the ground once spring rolls around. So keep checking back in as we continue to grow and make adjustments. Thanks for reading and we hope you find our home at "Clemontine's" as unique as we do.
