About The Owner

The Owners, Sam Beale and Mark Edwards have been best friends for over 30 years. We met in college and both have careers in the Construction Management and Real Estate Development fields. We both have families who also share a passion for the outdoors, especially hiking, biking, horse back riding, and antique hunting in the North Georgia mountains. This cabin is the perfect weekend retreat to meet all of our outdoor lifestyle needs, and an excellent place to get away for relaxation.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2006

Why The Owner chose North Georgia Mountains

We have always dreamed of owning a cabin in the north Georgia mountains and learned of this 4-acre property with a cozy cabin that fit our needs perfectly. We chose to renovate/update and rent the cabin in order to share our private cabin atop Prince Mountain with others who have a passion for the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and to help with the annual expenses involved with owning our dream property.

What makes this cabin unique

We mostly enjoy the incredible view. In the morning, we look down on the low-lying clouds that fill the multiple visible valleys while the sun rises, then throughout the day we overlook as far as the weather will allow, and finally overlook the glow of down-town Blue Ridge in the distant valley at night. We also enjoy roasting marshmellows in the stone fireplace, or outside in the stone fire ring on the mountainside.

Great Relaxing Mountain Escape

  • 5 of 5

Having searched extensively for a secluded mountain top cabin with a breathtaking view, we decided upon the Eagle's Nest. We were highly impressed that the descriptions of the cabin and the views were spot on! My wife and I enjoyed celebrating our anniversary in the romantic and picturesque venue. We were captivated by the brilliant sunrises and even the sunsets were beautiful! The cabin was exactly what one would expect a mountain retreat to be. The friendly locals and their dogs were welcoming but not intrusive. The beds were "mama bear" comfortable and the amenities plentiful. We will most assuredly return!

Spring trip to Eagles Nest

  • 2 of 5

We spent a beautiful April weekend at Eagle's Nest. The views were incredible, and the cabin includes a great porch and comfortable rocking chairs. Unfortunately, we encountered a number of issues with the property during our stay. We were looking forward to using the hot tub. However, when we arrived, the temperature was set very low and it took over 5 hours to warm up, so we were not able to use it on the first of our two nights. The tub was also only half full of water. There was only one functional eye on the stove. The stove caught fire while we were using it due to a large amount of old, charred food under the eye. If you do stay at the cabin, make sure you bring the essentials - i.e. toilet paper, dish detergent, etc. I think we may have been the first visitors in a few months. Perhaps if you visit during a busier time, previous renters will have left a starter supply of some of these items. Everything else in the house worked well. There is a great supply of DVDs and a comfortable sofa.

Owner's Response: We thank all of our guests for their positive review comments and for bringing the 'not so positive' items to our attention so that we may continue to improve the quality of our cabin and our customer service. We did have a 3 week vacancy prior to this guest's arrival, so we may have missed the mark on a few items, which were brought to our attention several days after this guest's departure. We encourage any/all potential issues to be brought to our attention immediately so that we can rectify without delay. The hot tub automatically re-sets to 85 degrees if not used for 7 consecutive days. The water level does gradually decrease with evaporation (understandable if not used for 3 weeks), however it was found to be filled to within the skimmer opening (thankfully) which is within the required water level to operate properly. The stove was found to have 3 eyes functioning properly and the 4th eye is being replaced as soon as the new burner/element arrives. As far as the flame, we did not find anything upon cleaning but can only imagine a grease drip on or below the burner ignited. We have also removed the burners and replaced all of the 'drip pans' below the burners to eliminate any fire risk. We do stock the standard items any guest would need, including toilet paper, dishwasher detergent, dish soap, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, etc. These items were found to be stocked, with exception of the dishwasher detergent which went unnoticed. We were also made aware that the gas grill burners were not distributing the flame evenly, so we have replaced the entire gas grill. Thanks again for your comments as we continue to improve our guests' overall experience and satisfaction.

Family fun

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time at The Eagles Nest. The cabin was perfect and stocked with everything we could possibly need and then some. The views, the hot tub, the fireplace all hit the spot. My husband and I travelled with our 2 sons (11 & 5 years old) and all had an incredible time. The .4 mile walk down to explore the creek was beautiful. The dogs from up the street were so sweet and playful. The boys loved the visits from them. Thank you to Sam.

We will definitely be back asap!

The view is as advertised

  • 4 of 5

I stayed here for three nights, just me and my dog, so I could unplug, play guitar, and get some writing done. Most of my time was spent on the back deck staring out into the valley - the view really is amazing. On the third morning, the fog even eased up enough to watch a spectacular sunrise. The owner is great to work with. We had a little bit of pricing confusion that wasn't in my favor, but he was immediate to resolve the issue once we figured out what happened. That's all you can ask for, right? My only three cons would be this: I would recommend bringing bottled water with you as the local mountain water is a little sulfur-y (and I'm a spoiled city boy), the grill outside could probably use an upgrade (it works, but it's a bit flame heavy), and that the main bedroom could use a ceiling fan as it got a little warm. But that's really it. Other than that, you're good to go!

Amazing Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at this cabin for a weekend getaway. The view is absolutely amazing, and the cabin is in a peaceful and quiet location, yet not too far away from Blue Ridge. The cabin was roomy, well furnished, and clean. The satellite tv would come in handy on a rainy day. We also enjoyed the deck and the hot tub. I'd highly recommend this cabin.
