Welcome to my 'Desert Dream' ~Vicki Butler, Owner
Your vacation starts with a very well appointed, fully furnished home. I have taken the time to provide you the things that make a house a home. Luxurious beds and linens, Direct TVs, hi-speed wireless Internet, washer/dryer, and a well equipped kitchen await you. As you move to the outside, the beautiful panoramic view of the Catalina Mountains serve as a backdrop for your private, saltwater pool & spa, outdoor dining, BBQ grill, covered patio, and elevated sun deck. Inside or out - life is but a dream.
As the owner of this home, I wanted to create a sanctuary for myself, my family, and all those who come to visit. The ambiance of Desert Dream allows me to relax, rejuvenate, and shed the burdens of daily life; and, let the calmness of the desert embrace me. Tucson not only warms my body, but my heart and soul. It truly is my Desert Dream.
Things to Do: Enjoy hiking and biking the numerous mountain and city trails, or experience world class golf at one of the numerous golf clubs sprinkled throughout Tucson. Maybe you'd like to watch the desert bloom in the Spring! Or see the Arizona Diamondbacks during their Major League Spring Baseball Training. Come on down for the famous Tucson Gem & Mineral show, or visit the local wildlife and gardens at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (my personal favorite!). Need more ideas: Tombstone, The Copper Creek Mine, Reid Park Zoo, Aircraft Boneyard, Biosphere II, and the beautiful 1700 Spanish Mission: San Xavier del Bac (another personal favorite of mine!). Want to cool off? See Tucson underground via Kartchner Caverns State Park or Colossal Cave Mountain Park. Or just stay home and plunge into the salt water pool, or enjoy a relaxing massage from the spa. Afterall, it is your 'Desert Dream.'
Where to eat.: There are so many restaurants sprinkled about Tucson. Want to stay close to home? Enjoy a glass a wine or beer with a steak sandwich or gyro at the local favorite, Pappoule's Greek Restaurant, located at the Foothills Mall. Around the corner is the Outback Steakhouse serving up steaks, ribs, chicken, and shrimp. There is the World Sports Bar Grill stationed at the entrance to Walmart off of LaCholla - here you can enjoy a meal and watch your favorite sports team offered on one of their many T.V.s
Interested in pizza or a sandwich? Try another personal favorite of mine, Sauce, located on the corner of Ina & N. Oracle Road. Right next door you can stop in for a delicous gelato at Frost (voted #1 as Tucson's favorite gelato). Looking to celebrate a special evening? Then Wildflower may be the place to go! Do make reservations ahead of time during peak season's. If you were to ask me what is my #1 favorite place for breakfast or lunch? Then I would hands down tell you to go to Tohuno Chul Bistro (located off of Ina), where you can sit outside under the shade of an umbrella, and enjoy a delicious meal while watching the hummingbirds, butterflies, dragonflies, and birds flit about the flowers and tree's. I consider Tohuno Chul to be the butterfly and hummingbird haven!
Looking to explore a little further out? Make reservations at the Guadalajara Mexican Original Grill where they make salsa to order right at your table! You could also head down to the University area and taste all of the sandwich shops and exotic fare. Or go downtown for Cafe Poco Cosa with its imaginative Mexican cuisine. The J Bar Lounge or La Pasada for happy hour with a view. Other popular hits are the La Encantada Mall for Ra (sushi), NoRTH (modern Italian cuisine), Blancos (tacos & tequila), Blue Fin (seafood) and you can always pop into AJ's (excellent fine foods grocer).
For the best pancakes in town, you've got to drive down to BoBo's - the all American greasy spoon. Try Frank's for breakfast with an attitude. Viavace is always a top dining choice.
And don't forget your own backyard. Fire up the BBQ and throw some steaks or seafood on the grill.
