Welcome to my 'Desert Dream' ~Vicki Butler, Owner

Your vacation starts with a very well appointed, fully furnished home. I have taken the time to provide you the things that make a house a home. Luxurious beds and linens, Direct TVs, hi-speed wireless Internet, washer, dryer, and a well equipped kitchen await you. As you move to the outside, the beautiful panoramic view of the Catalina Mountains serve as a backdrop for your private, saltwater pool & spa, outdoor dining, BBQ grill, covered patio, and elevated sun deck. Inside or out - life is but a dream.

As the owner of this home, I wanted to create a haven for myself and my family. Coming from Alaska, I find that Tucson not only warms my body, but my heart and soul. I come to rejuvenate, relax, and shed the burdens of daily life; and, let the calmness of the desert embrace me. It truly is my Desert Dream.

Things to Do: Enjoy hiking and biking the numerous mountain and city trails, or experience world class golf at one of the numerous golf clubs sprinkled throughout Tucson. Maybe you'd like to watch the desert bloom in the Spring! Or see the Arizona Diamondbacks during their Major League Spring Baseball Training. Come on down for the famous Tucson Gem & Mineral show, or visit the local wildlife and gardens at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (my personal favorite!). Need more ideas: Tombstone, The Copper Creek Mine, Reid Park Zoo, Aircraft Boneyard, Biosphere II, and the beautiful 1700 Spanish Mission: San Xavier del Bac (another personal favorite of mine!). Want to cool off? See Tucson underground via Kartchner Caverns State Park or Colossal Cave Mountain Park. Or just stay home and plunge into the salt water pool, or enjoy a relaxing massage from the spa. Afterall, it is your 'Desert Dream.'

Where to eat.: Ahhhh...where to eat? How do I begin? Do you head down to the University area and taste all of the sandwich shops and exotic fare? Or go downtown for Cafe Poco Cosa - imaginative Mexican cuisine? Or hit the nearby Thunder Canyon Brewery or World Sports Grill? The J Bar Lounge or La Pasada for happy hour with a view. Hit La Encantada Mall for Ra (sushi), NoRTH (modern Italian cuisine), Blancos (tacos & tequila), Blue Fin (seafood) and you can always pop into AJ's (excellent fine foods grocer). For the best pancakes in town, you've got to drive down to BoBo's - the all American greasy spoon. Try Frank's for breakfast with an attitude. Viavace is always a top dining choice. Number #1 choice for the ladies - choose from Sauce or Wildflower. And don't forget your own backyard. Fire up the BBQ and have some steaks on the grill.

About Vicki Butler, Owner

Living in Alaska for 30 years, it was time for me to find a place to warm up and feel the sun in my face. Currently travel and teach classes & workshops for meditation, crystals, essential oils, and more!

Vicki Butler, Owner purchased this house in 2009

Why Vicki Butler, Owner chose Arizona

When I visited Tucson, I fell instantly in love! With an abundant amount of sunshine almost daily, the beauty of the surrounding mountains, the desert plant life, and the amazing wildlife - it was easy to choose Tucson as my vacation destination.

What makes this house unique

This home has been crystal gridded for easy releasing of stress, family harmony, relaxation, and joy! Time and again I received emails sharing that the families had plans to tour the city, and fell so much in love with the property they decided to stay and enjoy the pool and the view!

absolutely beautiful winter getaway

  • 5 of 5

The home is gorgeous! Everything was so clean and the kitchen had everything you would need to prepare meals. We missed a 2 foot snowstorm and were in the hot tub with a glass of wine while it snowed where we live. We used the hot tub everyday(even when the outdoor temps were in the 40's) and swam in the heated pool. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking! It started warming up outside to the 60's by the time we left.

It's near restaurants, grocery stores, and encantada mall. Very convenient. We loved Tohono Chul Gardens and Bistro. We went to the San Xavier Mission, also known as "the white dove of the desert". My husband did Karchner Caverns which was on his "bucket list." The Botanical Gardens were beautiful.

We really enjoyed eating at the "Harvest Restaurant", not very far away. They do a lot of organic and I have 2 food allergies: soy and gleuten. They worked with me and actually I was suprised I could eat a lot of what was on the menu. We ate there 5 times during our stay. First Watch is a good breakfast restaurant. And you must try Frost Gelato-the best.

We really enjoyed our vacation and really relaxed. It's a very healing atmosphere. Our daughter came for a day visit and said it's just got such a healing "vibe" here.

Thank you so much, Vicki, for letting us enjoy your beautiful home.

Perfect Stay in a Perfect Home

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Desert Dream was wonderful. Vicki, the owner was so easy to work with. She is very friendly and answered all my questions. The house itself is beautiful, clean and well-maintained. I am quite picky on where we stay and this place exceeded my expectations. My family of five, which included 3 young children, were very comfortable in the home. It is very child-friendly. The bedrooms and open living spaces were just perfect. My kids got spoiled with the big queen and king beds in their rooms! We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and hot tub. I appreciated the fact that the back door had an extra latch so that younger children could not get out to the pool by themselves. The view in the backyard was gorgeous. We loved seeing the stars at night, my husband wished he had his telescope! We were very relaxed at the house which was what we needed. The kitchen is fully stocked, and the house itself was too, with extra sheets, towels, laundry detergent, bathroom necessities etc. There were lots of stores and restaurants nearby which was so convenient. Yet, when you're at the house you feel like you're secluded from the rest of the world. I could have just sat outside by the pool for hours taking in the natural environment. We did go to the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum one day, which was great but my kids kept asking to go back home because they wanted to go swimming and just hang out! I highly recommend this home to anyone. Thank you Vicki for sharing your beautiful and relaxing home.

Desert Dream provided just the right combination..

  • 4 of 5

I was extremely blessed to discover Vicki's Desert Dream in Oro Valley, AZ this past Feb!! I invited a few friends and family to celebrate my 65th birthday with me and this property was ideal!

The house is beautifully decorated and easily sleeps 6-7 depending on use of an inflatable mattress, if needed. The pool and spa welcomed us each day after a busy schedule of shopping, visiting, sight seeing. Desert Dream is an easy drive to everywhere.

The total property is well appointed with everything one has come to expect from a HomeAway property. Thank you for the great experience, Vicki and company!

A gem in desert

  • 5 of 5

Amazing views, with a sunset depicting a whole palette of colors over the Santa Catalina mountains; a clean, well maintained, fully stocked house ready to welcome you; a safe and quiet neighborhood, completely immune to traffic noise and the hustle and bustle of the city, yet close to a vaste range of shopping and dining options. And let's not forget the unique commitment of the managers, Todd and Stacey, always happy to go the extra mile to accommodate the guests. Highly recommended for a restful vacation.
