Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

'A Peaceful Retreat' is a private, peaceful, log cabin that will remind you of days gone by.

It has a charming, cozy interior with nostalgic decor. While relaxing on the deck or in the hot tub, you can enjoy the serenity of the forest and watch the majestic sunset over the mountain tops. In the morning, sit on the cozy front porch with a cup of coffee and listen to the birds sing or play a game of checkers on the checkerboard table.

This private cabin is perfect for that romantic honeymoon or anniversary, yet large enough for that small family. So, leave your troubles behind, come make memories and enjoy a quiet peaceful time at 'A Peaceful Retreat'.

Our peaceful cabin is located in the Beautiful Wear's Valley Area. We are only minutes away from Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Townsend, Cades Cove & The Great Smokey Mountain National Forest.

About Ted or Pam Ponville

“A Peaceful Place To Visit”

The great Smokey Mountains National Park in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is a peaceful place to visit. Looking through the eyes of nature the enjoyment and serenity of the forest is like a journey through space before entering the sacred gates of heaven.

Blue hazy smoke drifts lazily over the mountain tops like a blanket protecting a sleepy town. Towards the east, slowly peeking over the horizon, the rising sun views the waking park and unfolds like a majestic answer to an artist’s dream.

Vividly rushing creeks meander along winding mountain roads to form roaring waterfalls that seem to perish like the ends of the earth.

Strolling through lush green forest, sweet chirping sounds float like a choir of angels singing.

This is proof that there is an almighty God and he does give you the desires of your heart. This was a paper I wrote in college in 1991, before we ever thought it was possible to achieve our dream of owning property.

Why Ted or Pam Ponville chose Tennessee

We came to the Great Smoky Mountains in 1977 for our honeymoon and fell in love with the area. Most of our family vacations were spent in this area. We always talked and dreamed of owning a log cabin one day and that dream became a reality.

What makes this cabin unique

Enjoying shopping for local crafts, outlet malls, antiques, & flea markets in the area. Plan a day to go ice skating at Ober in nearby Gatlinburg. We love to picnic in Cades Cove while enjoying nature & wildlife.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for the kind words about our cabin & the Fire Flies, that is the best part of the day in the summer for enjoying the sunset on the deck. We always try to make our guest feel as if our home is there home. It has been a blessing to have your family as our guest. We believe God gave us this cabin, so that we can be a blessing to others. Thanks again and hope to see you'll soon.

A satisfied family

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I brought our 16 yo and 7 yo granddaughters. It was close enough to all the attactions we wanted to see with enough other things to do to bring us back without having to do something twice unless we just wanted to. Proximity to the GSM national park, Cades Cove, Cherokee etc to visit them easily. Close to everything but you feel far away. A welcoming place to return to after a long day sight seeing.

Best place to stay

  • 5 of 5

A Peaceful Retreat was more than we could ever imagine. The proximity to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are 10-15 minutes, but at the cabin you're away and have a great view overseeing the area. We brought our two daughters (ages 9 and 2), and they both enjoyed the cabin as much, if not more than we did. This is for any type of family or couple. I'd recommend A Peaceful Retreat to anyone. We will stay no where else from this point forward.

Exactly What I Was Looking For

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many different cabins over the years, but this one was the best. It had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, it was impeccably clean, and the location was perfect. The owners we also quick in response and easy to work with. By the décor in the cabin you could tell that they truly love the cabin too. We will be back again and again.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review. You are correct that we do love our cabin and it is a labor of love. We do everything we can to assure that our guest are as comfortable as possible. That is the reason we have a 5 star rating and continue to keep that standard up. The decor' is my wife's talent and our use of repurposing many of the items is her creative idea's. Also our housekeeper is a little OCD about cleaning which is a perfect combination. Again thanks for the kind words.

Perfect Romantic Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful week. This cabin was by far the cleanest place I have stayed in my whole life. Everything looked brand new and had nice personal decor touches. The hot tub was great, located in a very private part of the deck, offering beautiful views. We loved being up in the mountains, but not far from any attraction you could want. (We highly recommend renting a Harley from the Pigeon Forge Smoky Mountain Harley Davidson... best day of our life and not very expensive!) Ted and Pam were very nice to communicate with, and everything was as presented in the listing. We had the most amazing week here, we can't wait to come back to Tennessee!

Truly Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

I decided to treat my wife to a romantic weekend on our trip back from a business conference she was attending. I was impressed with the rating and after a couple of emails I booked the Cabin. I will have to say that it is everything that is described in the reviews and more. I have never been to a rental that was this immaculate both inside and out. We were astounded by the level of cleanliness when we walked through the cabin, but what was even more impressive is the care that is taken on the outside of the cabin. It was as clean as if it was the day it was built. This was a very secluded location with minimal neighbors which was a key to what I was looking for. I did not want a condo community cabin like so many are and this is definitely not. Close to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The hot tub was perfect which we enjoyed on both days. Ted was such a pleasure to deal with, much different than the rental companies that do not care. He provided everything we needed to endup where we needed to be and access to him if necessary (which was not). If you are looking for a quiet place to go and getting better than expected accomodations at a very reasonable price, than this is the place to be. Thank you very much again Ted I am looking forward to spending more time at the place you call A Peaceful Retreat.

Great Time Out

  • 5 of 5

A peaceful retreat was just that. This was a weekend to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, from back in September. As the parents of three children, one a dancer, the other a football and baseball player, and a toddler just being a toddler, we are a very busy family. This was our first weekend away from kids in over 3 years, and it was so relaxing not having somewhere we HAD to be. The cabin was absolutely beautiful, the pictures posted does not do it justice at all. It was very clean and well taken care of. We ran in to a little bump with the weather and Ted the owner was wonderful. He was so sweet to offer us anything that could help us with our stay. The cabin is not far from all the action but it is secluded enough to enjoy the peace, quiet, and all of God's beauty. We can not wait to come back and even bring our kids along. You can tell from the moment you walk in that the owners want you to feel welcome. Thank you so much to Ted and his wife for sharing their beautiful cabin with us.

Owner's Response: Thanks for allowing us to add you'll as part of our family. Yes that was some extremely difficult weather,at least we could laugh about the challenges. We try to help our guest as if it was one of our family members. We always appriciate that our guest share their anniversaries and develop long lasting memories forever. Again thanks for being our guest and allowing us to sharing "A Peaceful Retreat" which God gave to us to bless others.
