Mighty and majestic, in the midst of lush grasses, wildflowers, and tall timbers, this beautiful log cabin features 7 bedrooms and 6 baths. With tile and hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen boasts a restaurant style cooking area, Marble counter tops and stainless appliances. It is stocked with spices and equipment for the best of your Chefs' cooking. An extremely open floor plan allows sunlight in aplenty. Natural timbers are visible throughout the interior that ad to the warmth and charm. This cabin is set in the middle of sloping green meadows, surrounded by hills topped with tall trees. A small stream runs near the cabin that feeds into the Turkey River. The stream itself has a small waterfall. Walking through the woods you may even find a deer trail to explore. There is plenty of exploring to be done!
All of this is set in roughly 57 acres! The Turkey River runs on the property, so there is easy access to fishing, tubing, and swimming with the fishes. We even have 2 Kayaks on the property for use. You will need to bring you own equipment though. :) There is a convenient pickup location a couple of miles down the river. Tubing float time is approximately 45 minutes. We also have an outdoor basketball hoop, and the volleyball court is going to be finished in the spring.
With a huge deck and views to take the breath away, you can barbecue to your hearts content and enjoy the surrounding wild life at the same time. The morning coffee on the deck is something to be experienced, as all your cares seem to melt away. Or, maybe to just stay inside and enjoy a competitive game of Foosball or ping pong, or a board game of your choosing, there are plenty.
In the evening there is a fire pit for s'mores or sing-a-longs or …? When everyone decides to come in for the night you will find all queen sized beds have plush pillow top mattresses. There are 5 master bathrooms. Plenty of room to spread out and get comfortable. With 4 cots plus two couches, 3 recliners and a futon, there is room for even the largest of parties and guests. We have an upper game room in the loft, and a lower game room below.
This is one log cabin that is limitless! With plenty of extra chairs and tables at your disposal you can hold a conference, a wedding, or a workplace getaway. Family or class reunions, workshops, or retreats…. I am sure there is more. You decide!
We are looking forward to your stay!
RV electrical hook ups are available.

Our family had a great time and dearly loved the spacious house. This is the first time in several years that we have all been able to stay together in one house. And, each of our 5 children & spouses had their own bedroom. Since the bedrooms are so spacious the smaller grandchildren slept on cots or air mattresses in their parents rooms. The older grandkids slept on air mattresses and cots in the basement and loft. Of course, my husband and I took the master bedroom on the main floor. There would have been room for more people to sleep on cots or air mattresses in that large room but we did not need that. And, your fully stocked kitchen was unbelievable. The grandkids LOVED all the games-amazing that you would have so many. My sons, sons-in law, and grandkids dearly loved the basketball hoop. They spent a lot of time shooting basketballs.
We all appreciated the air conditioning.
Besides your lovely large log cabin we found so much to do in the area. 19 of us went canoeing or kayaking on the Upper Iowa River north of Decorah. I want you to know that was a FIRST for me. We Had a great time.
Oh btw, we did a lot of very positive advertising your large log cabin in the area as we went to several different places and visited many people.I thank my granddaughter in Minnesota for finding it on VRBO. It is an AWESOME log cabin.
We had a group of 25 stay April 21-23 and we had an absolute blast. The cabin is exactly as the pictures online suggest. It's open and roomy with the inside of the cabin being as remarkable as you can imagine. The six bedrooms, couches, and recliners left plenty of room for everyone to sleep. We definitely made use of all that was on hand. From playing Foosball on one of the three tables in the basement to playing ping pong or basketball outside. We also enjoyed the beautiful view each morning from the deck while sipping coffee, mimosas, or bloody Mary's depending on each person's preference. At night we built bonfires on a fire pit that accommodated all of us to sit around it in our lawn chairs and drink a few cold ones. You do need to bring your own firewood. The kitchen is fully furnished with anything you might need for utensils, silverware, bowls, pots, pans, even a couple of crock pots. Just bring your own food and drinks a good attitude and there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't have a great time. We also made use of the gas grill in the evenings to cook everything from steak, burgers, shish kabobs, and asparagus. It's not a huge grill so obviously people have to take turns, but it definitely gets the job done. We rented this cabin for my wife's 40th birthday and I can honestly say everyone left very satisfied. If I had to rate our stay I'd give it a 9 out of 10. The only draw back we had on our stay was the first night we were there. Even though you have a out in the middle of nowhere feel, that is not the case. There is a neighbor close enough that you can see from the cabin when the leaves are not on the trees. I believe they called the cops our first night we were sitting by the fire listening to music. At 1130pm on Friday night we had a visit from 3 sheriff's cars for being too loud. That put a little damper on everyone's mood, but we had no problems after that. I did have some trouble trying to get a hold of Teresa in our time after booking our rental to ask questions. Reason being she is out of the country a lot helping orphanages. I was able to get a hold of her husband Tom on the phone and he was super helpful in answering any all questions I had. I just want to give both of them a thank you for letting us stay we had a great time. Definitely recommend seeing this place at least once, just watch your noise level :)
We had a large group of 32 people meeting for a reunion. We love the pictures of this place on the website and it looked like it would accommodate all of our needs. When we arrived it exceeded our expectations. There were more beds than listed so everyone was able to have a sleeping spot on a bed or a cot. The cabin was gorgeous with plenty of fridge space for all of our food. It was nice and secluded so we were able to enjoy our weekend without worrying about neighbors. It was in nature which allowed for swimming, tubing, kayaking, hiking, and fishing. There is a small town close by so anything that we forgot to bring we were able to go into town within 15 minutes. I would highly recommend this place for a get together or a relaxing trip. There were even board games and ping pong tables there to keep us entertained if we got bored. We will definitely be revisiting there very soon.
Our family of 8 adults and 13 children enjoyed this spacious and beautiful cabin and found nothing to complain about. We were here for three nights and celebrated thanksgiving together. It was a perfect way for our family to gather with so much room, plus everything we needed in the kitchen, etc. the complaints by previous posters were non-issues. We would definitely consider coming here again.
The cabin was beautiful and a good size for our group of 19. We were frustrated with the upkeep of the cabin. Whenever we used the hot water, the most horrible rotten egg smell was given off. One of the upstairs showers leaked to the bedroom and bath below and we had to mop that up. It rained one morning we were there and the patio door downstairs leaked so bad we had to put pans on the floor to catch the drips. We also had concerns about cleaning. Cobwebs at all window sills and fly strips with dead flies hanging above the kitchen table.
We informed the owners about the problems we had,so hopefully they will be addressed be another family rents this cabin.
My buisness partner, his wife and my wife stayed at the cabin in September. Our weekend was perfect and relaxing. The view was everything that it was described to be. Accomidations were prestine and top notch. We arrived a day early and unanounced, Tom and Teresa set housekeeping out and within an hour we were able to stay and extra night in the peace of God. We all really appreciated them going the extra mile for us on this. As for the accomidation they were excactly what we needed to refocus ourselves. Peace, beauty of nature, and to absorb the grace of Gods creations. The cabin it's self is massive (it will sleep 20+ without a problem). Other reviews state they saw exposed wires, etc. however, I saw no sign of such. Kitchen was an enjoyable treat to fix meals in. It was outfitted with professional grade stainless steel stove, refriderator, and granite counter tops.
The property and view were simply stunning. We woke up at 0600 and looked out over lightly fog covered medow below the cabin were wild turkeys roomed. The sight of a couple of deer about a half a mile away was breath taking. Later in the day my wife and I waked down to the river alone and were able to sit below a small waterfall that is on the property. We were able to wade through the river and stack rocks like we did when we were children. The joy and peace we felt that weekend will last with us for a lifetime. We thank the owners for creating such a memorable place that we can go to again and again. We recomend this to anyone who want to expierence the true outdoors, piece and quite, but with the elegance of a resort.
We enjoyed spending time with 3 of our children, their spouses and 8 grandchildren, ages 1 thru 6, over Labor Day weekend. The beautiful spacious home allowed us to spend quality time together and yet get time alone for much needed naps. We hiked down to the river two times and it added a sense of adventure, even though the river was too low to canoe in this year. The property was clean and well maiintained but needs to have some of the electrical fixtures finished off. We did take several trips into West Union to use the public swimming pool and playgrounds and eat picnic lunch. That was very convenient.
