Our log cabin is named 'Where the Greene Grass Grows'. If you want to get away to a cute, beautiful 3 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin on 3+ acres of absolutely gorgeous land, this is your next vacation spot! A small creek runs through the property and runs under Bethel road into the Watauga River. At the river you can go fishing, tubing or just play in the river and cool off.
There is a great wood burning stove in the living room area. On the main floor there is a queen bedroom and a full bath, along with a washer & dryer room. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs. The dining room and living room will add to the cozy atmosphere. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and another with a twin bed, plus a pull out twin trundle. There is another bathroom upstairs between the 2 bedrooms. Relax on the front porch or back deck on the rockers or swings. The back porch has a nice propane grill and the full basement can be used for game night.
This cabin was built in 1985. It is only a few miles to Watauga Lake, Beech Mountain skiing and you can drive just a few minutes further to reach Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Tubing at Hawksnest & Appalachian Ski Mountain. Boone is a great college town for Appalachian State University, plus has shopping, restaurants, movies. Valle Crucis is only about 5 miles away and is home to the Mast General Store and the famous Candy Barrel. Blowing Rock is also close by which has incredible unique shops and is home to Tweetsie Railroad. This cabin has very easy access points to the Blue Ridge Parkway and is only 30 miles away for the Nascar Races in Bristol, TN. The elevation in this area is around 3400' and provides some of the best views in the world, especially when the leaves are changing during peak season.

This cabin is owned by 'The Greenes'. We grew up in North Carolina and attended college at Appalachian. We know and love this area and are happy to have the chance to share it with you. We have a 16 year old daughter who loves to bring her friends and have fun in the mountains at 'Where the Greene Grass Grows'
Kristi Greene purchased this cabin in 2009
We love the mountains! It is so nice in the heat of the summer, because it is usually very cool. In the winter it is fun to visit and go skiing with friends. The river is so natural and does not come with the sand that ends up all over everything when vacationing at the beach. The views are great. The shopping is awesome and you are always family in the NC mountains.
Great to read a book and listen to the creek. Nice to sit by the river or to go fishing. Perfect for hiking in the summer or skiing in the winter. Wake up to deer in our yard - almost guaranteed!
We spent 2 nights in this cabin and it was the perfect home base. My husband and I and our two sons (ages 10 an 9) had everything we needed. There was plenty of room and the boys enjoyed roaming the outdoors. The inside is so pretty and I love all of the wood. We enjoyed game nights around the dining table and the kitchen had all we needed to make meals. The cabin was conveniently located - we were close to everything. We spent a day at Beech Mountain, spent time in Boone and Valle Crucis.
The cabin was charming and delightful...the pictures on VRBO really didn't do it justice! We grinned when we pulled into your driveway because it looked like a storybook log cabin! And the first thing Baxter our dog did, was to jump out of the car and roll in the grass, and then he proceeded to sniff every last inch of the front and back yards. To say he was happy would be an understatement, which I really appreciated because he's very old and his days are numbered. When we walked into your cabin, we grinned even more because it was decorated just the way we would, if we had a cabin in the mountains! The bed in the master was comfy, the kitchen was fully stocked, and I loved the sewing machine on the second floor because it's the same model my grandma had, and used to make my Mom's wedding dress!
The location of your cabin is pretty perfect, too, because we had quick and easy access to Boone, Valle Crucis, and even Blowing Rock.
This little cabin is absolutely perfect for those wanting to get away for the weekend and enjoy the mountains. It is close to Boone and Blowing Rock which makes its location ideal. The cabin itself is adorable and cozy. Our dogs really enjoyed themselves and that was the whole point of our trip. The owners are wonderful to work with and I would highly recommend this cabin!
We had a wonderful weekend in the cabin! Everything was very comfortable and cozy! Our chocolate lab loved running around the yard and laying on the warm carpets!
My family came for a visit to Boone to see family we haven't seen in a long time and return to our "heritage" you could say. We had such a wonderful time in this lovely cabin. We sat on the back porch surrounded by hills and trees and played guitars and sang gospel hymns, read Bible stories to the children, shared many family means, and had the opportunity to say good mornings and good nights to everyone. It was such a perfect time, and this cozy cabin made it even more incredible. We have discussed returning frequently and would like this same cabin each and every time. Thank you for allowing our family to have shared in your "Haven of rest". MH-Spartanburg, SC
Spent Easter weekend at your charming cabin. We had a wonderful time and felt right at home. Would recommend the cabin for others. We spent one day shopping and the next at Hebron rock colony. Would liked it to have been a bit cleaner as we had small children with us, but we made due.
