This property is a private bungalow in the best location in Venice Beach. It is walking distance from the two best shopping and entertainment streets on the west side of Los Angeles- Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, and Main Street in Santa Monica. Both streets offer a multitude of restaurants, shopping, antiques, pubs and other entertainment, all close by. Also close by is the beach, with the famous Venice Boardwalk to the south, and the Santa Monica Pier to the north. To the east, Whole Foods Market, the neighborhood breakfast place, Flake, the Venice Beach Wine Bar, and more restaurants are a just short walk away.
Because there is no place like Venice, and to truly experience it you must live like a local (not stay in a hotel). There is an energy and excitement in our neighborhood that is unparalleled. A vibrant cultural, art, music and culinary scene makes Venice a great place to live and vacation.
My fiancé and I frequently travel, and decided to stay here for our first trip to the Venice/Santa Monica area.
This is a great little beach house with a 9 minute walk to Venice.
When we first arrived, I couldn't quite figure out why there were people camped out in tents across the street. By morning, I realized it was actually homeless people living there. There is no need to be alarmed by this...they are harmless and hardly ever cross the street.
The house is fenced-in with locked gates.
The hot tub was great at night after a long day of walking!
One minor detail that will save time: If you have rented a car, the parking space is behind the unit and has to be accessed from the alley. Once you find the unit number of your space, you have to give your a large amount of space from the gates...they open out.
Also, I highly recommend taking an Uber VS trying to park at the beach. It's quicker and cheaper.
All in all I thought the place was great and would stay there again!
Our overall experience at this property was good and the location is tremendous. It was the perfect size for the two of us however I've stayed in many VRBO rental properties before and I definitely had some things pop up that I think could have made our experience better. I've listed some pros and cons below.
Hot Tub when the water was hot (had a bit of trouble keeping the temp up)
Double sinks in the bathroom
Shower was good but rain shower head was rusted up
Ample closet drawers for clothing but there were only 4 hangers so couldn't hang much
Nice beach towels
Fitted sheet and mattress cover doesn't fit mattress - slides off during the night and it's pretty gross to wake up on a bare mattress
Stains on pillow cases
Wobbly kitchen faucet
Bed frame squeaks horribly loud with any subtle movement
Bike chains rusted out (did get a replacement bike but it was delivered covered in dirt and spider webs)
No wine glasses
Thin bathroom towels that felt a bit wore out
Location and amenities were as described
Property was clean but could use more maintenance
Owner didn't provide as communication for our questions as we had hoped
We would recommend this property to our friends
Tons of activities and attractions near by
The street across from the unit is lined with Tents every night which was a bit concerning but overall felt safe
We are happy to have stayed here and I think with a few tweaks this place would be outstanding.
Thanks for having us!
The place is as advertised. It's within walking distance to all amenities (cvs, pubs, restaurants, the beach) and having a parking stall is definitely a bonus. One of the tree branches came down because of strong winds and was obstructing the hot tub. I contacted John and he responded instantly and took care of the issue. Overall a great stay.
We couldn't have been in a better location! A couple blocks from the beach and right between Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier. Perfect bike ride either direction. The bikes that were included in this rental were a huge bonus!! John was great in responding when I contacted him and he recommended a place for us to rent two bikes for the kids that was close by. We rode bikes everyday which was probably the most memorable part of our trip using the Pacific Coast Bike Trail which is just a couple blocks away. The hot tub is perfect after a day at the beach or biking or walking, it didn't stay as hot as we would have liked. It seemed to cool down when you turn the jets on or just after you are in it for 20 minutes or so. The taco truck right across the street had amazing food which we looked forward to each day. The rental is in a very safe area and is very private yet it's on a fairly busy street which never bothered us. It was great to have a parking spot also just make sure you do not have a large vehicle as with most parking in So Cal it's pretty tight. We rented a Kia Soul and had plenty of space. The place was clean and in decent shape, aside from needing a little touch up paint on the walls from scuff marks. There were some tiles missing on the floor of the shower which wouldn't have bothered me except they are right where you have to stand. The bed makes a lot of noise with every little move at night but was comfortable. My kids slept on the pull out sofa bed which was as comfortable as can be expected. The Wi-Fi worked great and was very fast. I highly recommend this rental for anyone including families with kids. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Venice!!
The most attractive aspect of the property is definitively its location, literally in the heart of the action in Venice, a walking distance from the beach, bars, restaurants, and groceries. There is even a nice Mexican food truck across the street. Also a short driving to all other attractions in that side of LA. The property it self is good also, the description is honest, but a few more pictures would be helpful to avoid any suprises. But overall, I would recommend it to friends and family. The house is well equipped for most daily needs. In terms of cleaniness, bathroom was perfect, updated, room was ok (except for a couple of left over socks) and kitchen it was acceptable. Parking space is good.
It was a nice experience in Venice Beach, the location is nearby all the nice places and has a great Taco Food truck just in front. ($2 Tacos) We just expected the place to be a bit more clean and neat, the shower tiles need some replacement but overall everything was great. The owner provided good service and communication, I would recommend although the price could be a bit steep.
