House Details: The Wrens' Nest is a 7 year old luxurious, contemporary home with top quality construction, furnishings, appliances, bedding, and location. It is a perfect vacation home for those individuals who want the best and are willing to care for it. The house is built on two levels, with the main living spaces on the upper level. We have a flat driveway and you enter the house on the second (main) level, so you don't have to negotiate stairs or a steep driveway with your groceries and luggage. On this level are the living-dining-kitchen area, bar, office, master suite, main deck, 'screenless' porch, grilling deck, powder bath with shower, laundry/mud room, and double garage.
The living - dining area is furnished with comfortable and quality materials and is designed for relaxation and conversation. The bar with beverage refrigerator and storage for glasses and mugs will make drink prep very convenient.The dining area is fitted with a table which is set up to seat 6 and expands to accommodate 10! Additional seating for 4 is available at the huge granite island or on the screenless porch!.
The open galley kitchen is a delight to work in. It has a built in refrigerator with paneled doors, 6 burner gas cook top, regular oven, convection-microwave oven, and a very quiet dishwasher. The 12 foot x 5 foot island and tall pantry cabinets provide plenty of storage for food and cooking supplies. A second refrigerator is in the garage so feel free to bring plenty of food!
Just off the kitchen is a delightful covered porch, open to the views on two sides. Unscreened, since we have no bugs at this elevation, you will love the comfy rockers and picnic table for four as you watch humming birds and feel the mountain breezes.
The master bedroom opens to the deck and the hot tub just outside. It has a king poster bed, dresser, 48' wall mounted HD TV, DVD player, and lounge chair. The master bath has heated floors, wall mounted TV, double vanity, soaking tub, and separate walk in shower. A walk in closet and toilet room complete the suite.

We live in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and built the Wrens' Nest as a second home, not planning to rent it. However, since we can't be here ALL the time, we decided we would rather share it with discriminating renters than leave it empty for weeks at a time. We have a high end oceanfront vacation business in the Ponte Vedra / St. Augustine area and have had excellent success renting to people who love our homes and take very good care of them. We think you will love our wonderful Wrens' Nest, perched high above Maggie Valley, with outstanding long range views and all the amenities you could think of!
Judy Wren purchased this house in 2009
We had been looking for the perfect NC mountain location for years. Our criteria included: at least 4000 foot elevation; long range mountain views; NOT surrounded by other houses; no telephone wires to spoil the view, easy access to the main roads; good restaurants and attractions nearby; and a flat driveway and entrance to the house. As you can imagine, these qualities are VERY hard to find in the mountains, especially when you insist on ALL of them! But, the minute we saw Lot 5 in The Seasons of Maggie Valley, we knew we had found our dream location. Then...all we had to do was build the house!
The Wrens' Nest is NOT the typical mountain 'cabin'. It depends on what is important to you, of course, but we think you will appreciate our combination of wonderful features:
*unbelievable long range mountain views while enjoying easy access to and from the house
*light and bright interiors with quality and comfortable furnishings, bedding and decor; enjoy our original art, award winning quilts, and all the other touches that make this house a home;
* a house filled with special amenities: walnut floors, heated bath floors in the master, stereo system throughout the house and decks, 5 televisions/DVD players; lots of games and puzzles for kids and adults; top quality appliances and cookware; separate entertainment room with game table and wet bar;
* two huge decks, a covered 'screenless porch', and even a covered grilling deck
*hot tub and wireless Internet...both OPTIONAL in case you don't want them
*double garage with automatic openers, security system,
'tankless' water heater... and more. We challenge you to find a comparable home for anywhere near our price!
We fell in love with the house and location on our arrival. Once inside, we began to realize just how fortunate we were to find this house for our family summer vacation. The house was in excellent condition and offered every amenity we required. Our three children, spouses and 5 grandchildren had room to roam and the "bunk room" was perfect for the four oldest children as it gave them a little privacy away from the rest of the family. We found many things in the area to do with trips to Ashville and the Biltmore, Cherokee with the town and Indian Village tour, river floating along with white waster rafting. Many local restaurants were available for meals when we chose to eat out. The owner was very easy to work with and answered our questions. The house also provided extensive information on local attractions, restaurants, ect..
We would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the mountains in a luxury house as a vacation you will always remember with many great memories.

A group of 10 of were easily accommodated at the Wren's Nest. Facilities were wonderful. It is beautifully maintained and up-to-date. The kitchen was well-equipped and a gas-grill was also available. It is a lovely location and the view from the decks was awesome. We liked the location which made it easy to get to the surrounding areas, including both Cherokee and Waynesville. A book of restaurants and suggested activities is on the bar. We enjoyed local restaurants, golf, Folkmoot, the Casino, shopping, and just relaxing. Don't miss the Pancake House for breakfast at least once!
We had a wonderful time staying at the Wren's Nest. The house is very easy to get to and very conveniently close (within 20-30 mins) to grocery stores, restaurants and Waynesville. We had a large group (11 adults, 2 children) and there was ample room for everyone. The kitchen is perfectly stocked with serve ware, cooking/baking pans, crockpots, coffee makers, etc. There is even a popcorn maker in the family room downstairs for when we watched TV. The bedrooms and bathrooms had all the needed towels/bedding. The house is amazingly clean and well-maintained. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you walk into. The view from the back porch was magnificent and there is plenty of seating for everyone to enjoy the sunsets, as well as, from the hot tub. We were very fortunate to have found this home and working with Judy was a breeze-she is very willing to help out and answer any questions. You will not be disappointed in staying at Wren's Nest.
This house and all it's accommodations were wonderful. It was like no other rental property I have ever visited. Outstanding in every area including the views!
We had four adults and six kids aged between ten and sixteen in our group. This was the perfect rental for our short vacation. Unlike other rentals that we have utilized in the past, you could find just about anything that you need in the house (things you would normally not bring with you, i.e.,spices, etc.). The property was as clean as any I have rented. The view off of the back porch was as beautiful as any mountain property the I have rented. The owner of the property, Judy, was as easy to work with as any owner that I have worked with in the past. She is very proud of her mountain retreat and it shows. There is an approximately 1.5 mile hike in the neighborhood in which the house is located that has about a 400 foot elevation change that is perfect for both the experienced hiker and those who just want to go for a walk. The mountain retreat neighborhood appears to have over 20 lots that will eventually be built on. Today, there are two houses on the property which maintains privacy. I reluctantly give really high reviews on the property because it will probably be really difficult to find open time on its calendar in the future. We will definitely be back.
We have stayed two years in a row and already booked our third year before even departing this year.
Wrens Nest is a smartly designed, lovingly appointed and beautifully sited home in Maggie Valley. The views from the back of the home are of unmatched beauty. Coffee on any one of the three porches will be a most magnificent start to your day. The hot tub (highly recommend that you add this on!) is filled for each stay and professionally cleaned in between renters. It is off the main floor master bedroom and a most delightful start to each day before the sun is up, soaking neck deep in warm, bubbling water as the sun slowly rises and tints the horizon with soft, watercolor tints before unveiling a brilliant, Carolina blue sky with views as far as your eyes could possibly see.
The set up is ideal for so many--families, couples get away, girls/guys trip...privacy in the sleeping quarters and wonderful common spaces to share meals and make new memories on both the main and lower floors.
The upper master bath is a spa like delight--heated tile floors, limestone counters with rectangular sinks and wide spread faucets. Deep soaking tub on one side with a TV mounted on the wall and a large walk-in shower on the opposite wall with shaving ledge in one corner. Separate commode room with casement window as well. The walk-in closet has room for all your clothing, they even have hangers on site if you don't travel with your own. Master bedroom has electronic shades that can be raised and lowered with the touch of a button. Large sliding glass door provides access to the oversized, open deck that extends off the back of the home.
Kitchen is well appointed for those that care to cook instead of exploring the restaurants in Waynesville, Maggie Valley and Asheville--between the three you have delights for the foodies/farm table/chain lovers so no matter what you like to eat, you'll likely find it close by.
Excellent working space for at least two in the office with built in desks off the kitchen area if you need to get things done while others are relaxing and enjoying the home and attractions. I brought my personal MiFi with Verizon service and had super speed/access each time I connected.
If you are seeking a clean and beautiful mountain top home with responsive owners and unparalleled beauty, then look no further. This is the place for you!
The Wrens' Nest is a new home in a new development called The Seasons of Maggie Valley. The Seasons is located off Fie Top Road, 1.9 miles up from Soco Road and 1.5 miles below the Cataloochee Ski Area. Although the house is located at 4300 feet elevation, the access up Fie Top Road is very easy; you will need a 4 wheel drive and possibly chains in snowy weather, of course.
You will never see views as spectacular as those from The Wrens' Nest. Long range mountain views, with no telephone wires, roads, or roof tops to spoil the beauty, are simply stunning. Regardless of the season or the weather, you will love looking out over the mountains and watching the clouds drift by.
The house is perfectly situated to enjoy privacy in a serene mountain setting yet have easy access to skiing, golf, restaurants, shopping, and other activities.
