About Steven Minning

Originally from the Midwest - a New Yorker of 30 years!

Steven Minning purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Steven Minning chose Poconos

The proximity to New York is so convenient and easy to get to. The property feels so private - you feel as though you are in the middle of the country, yet you are only a 10 minute walk into the middle of the town of Milford PA. The community is quaint, with good shops, good dining and minimum amount of tourists. Go the Milford Diner for some pancakes in morning and hob-nob with the locals. The area has all the amenities to go out or stay at home!

What makes this cottage unique

A very open space - yet a very cozy and warm space complete w/ a working fireplace. The open space includes an open staircase with no railing that leads up to the sleeping loft. The staircase is solid and sturdy, but has no hand rail.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The cottage was unbelievable !! So serene and peaceful.

We took lots of pics and will forward those to you soon

We made use of the barbecue grill, kitchen and all utensils.

You have done a wonderful job of decorating and had all the essentials plus more!

We have stayed in dozens of homes and cottages throughout the years and

I said to my girlfriend(Jacqui) this is by far the best place we stayed.

It is a perfect getaway, fairly close, reasonably priced, perfect size, beautiful brook,

intense scenery i could go on and on. Steven you really did a nice job, we really enjoyed our stay

And thanks for your great communication, it is greatly appreciated.

We wish you the best of luck and we look forward to visiting again soon.

Great location, close to town and state parks

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is in a great location, very quiet, close to town and minutes from NJ and NY. Before you commit to your stay please be aware of a couple of the quirky things about the cabin. The loft is definitely part of the charm but can be dangerous. There is no railing on the steep narrow steps and what the pictures don’t show is that at the top, one side is completely open to the floor below – no railing or wall. On the other side, the railing posts are too far apart and definitely not up to code. There is very little space to stand or put any of your belongings. My husband and I brought our 2 Corgi dogs and were nervous they would walk right off the open ledge.

One other caution, the owner asks that no paper (of any kind) go in the toilet. There is a metal trash can for that purpose in the bathroom with plenty of plastic bags. Seems very unsanitary in my humble opinion. If you decide to go, make sure it is with someone you are comfortable with carrying your waste bag out to the trash.

Quaint, comfortable, and exactly what we were looking for

  • 5 of 5

Me, my husband, and another couple spent the weekend at the cottage in August. The cottage was exactly what we were looking for, and we felt at home the minute we walked through the door. It was clean, and homey. The kitchen was fully stocked, and everything we needed was easy to find. The bbq, along with the table and chairs outside were perfect for eating, and hanging out. The "small room" is most definitely a SMALL ROOM, especially to sleep two adults, however we were busy with lots of activities around town and we were only in the room to sleep, so it was fine. The living area was also a comfortable space and sufficient for the four of us, and the couple that joined us were comfortable in the loft area. The location of the cottage is perfect! We spent one day going tubing down the Delaware River which was only a 20 minute drive. We spent another day hiking at George W Child's State Park, which was also a quick convenient drive. The town had a lot of things to offer, and we spent an afternoon walking through it, and having lunch at a local spot. Overall, the cottage was just the escape from the hustle and bustle that we needed! We are already talking about going back next summer! Thanks so much for your hospitality Steven, and for answering all of my questions so promptly!!

Wonderful Spot!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was beautiful, the brook behind it offered soothing sounds, just a perfect little getaway. Milford has more than enough nearby to occupy a long weekend, great hikes and outdoor options too. Thank you, we'll be back!!

Excellent get-away

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for 3 days mid-week. Milford was a quaint small town, good for walking or biking, good food, and easy access to many miles of hiking trails through the Poconos. The cottage was exactly what we were looking for -- secluded and quiet but with enough amenities that it does not feel like roughing it. The owner was extremely prompt, courteous, and organized with property information.

Awsome vacation

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was beautiful and nice and private. The sound of the creek sitting on the back patio was so relaxing. Will definitely be back next year at a cooler time hopefully. The only downfall was no air and it was 90s the time we were there. Me and the love of my life had a unbelievable stay.
