I will be traveling in New Zealand March 3rd to 21st so maybe a delay in my response. My calendar is always up to date. Private Home on 35 Acres with views of the La Plata Mountains to Mesa Verde National Park and The Four Corners. This is a 400 square foot, park model home 2 miles from the town of Dolores. All full size appliances and a 37' HD TV. Halogen lighting on dimmers, ceiling, window fans and AC. Side table and lift top coffee table or patio furniture on the deck for enjoying a sunset dinner.
Kitchen item include a Krups coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, all dishes and silverware. The sun comes in my south facing widows in the morning which is a good time to look out for deer, red fox, bobcats.
Take a walk around the perimeter of the acreage in the evening during sunset to find pottery shards and see wildlife. Sleep well with cool nights at 7000 feet.
Safe for kids, no cliffs or water to fall into. I supply paper towels, TP, hand soap and coffee filters.
It has a bath tub but the water heater is not big enough for a real hot bath. It's a half mile gravel road access.
I'm an avid cyclist, photographer, hiker so ask anything about enjoying this area and I'll lead you to the best locations or just relax in the town of Dolores and soak in the river.
Dean purchased this house in 2008
The views and seclusion are unmatched! Birds, bunnies, fox and deer roam the property.
Nearest neighbor is a half mile away. It's almost too quite here!
A perfect place to stay for my husband and I. Our week in October spent here was so quiet and relaxing. The fall colors were beautiful! You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere yet so close to everything. We enjoyed the mountain views, the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and we especially enjoyed the full double rainbow after an afternoon rain shower - it was beautiful! We took day trips to Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, Durango to ride the train to Silverton. We explored the surrounding towns and found great places to eat in Cortez. We would definitely return to the Cozy Little house on 35 acres. Hopefully we'll get to stay for a whole month! Thank you Dean for sharing your home with us!

Dean, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay at your beautiful place. It was every bit as quiet and peaceful as advertised. We had fun walking thru the acreage and looking at the deer and jack rabbits. The sunsets were beautiful, the house was immaculately clean and modern and we hope to be able to visit again in the near future. Thanks for an easy booking and a wonderful time.
Had a great time with our first ever vrbo experience. This place had absolutely everything we needed for a great getaway. The house was spic and and span and equipped with all the necessities. Drove right to the place with the owners directions. It's only a couple miles to the cute little town of Dolores and McPhee Reservoir, which was perfect since we came to fish. There was plenty of room to park our boat including a circle drive through. Had trouble with our boat motor and were grateful to find expert help from Stan at Doc's Marina. The boat inspector, Craig at McPhee greeted us with a smile and tons of info on the lake. The fish weren't biting but, we are planning a return trip next spring when the smallmouth bass fishing is supposed to be amazing. The reservoir is absolutely beautiful, and Huge. Very little boat traffic, mid August. The antique stores in town were a real treat too. Check out the pizza and live entertainment at Dolores River Brewery. Loved the small town atmosphere, friendly local folks and the perfect retreat tucked away in our own 35 acres of cedars and oak brush. It's a sweet little home with big views, lots of windows, bright and cheery. Thanks for making this place available, Dean. You have thought of everything! Really appreciate the affordable price! Didn't bring our dogs this trip, but sure appreciate the option to be able to do so!
It wasn't so easy to find the house, try to get there by daylight! But if you once discover the cozy house you'll be happy to stay there! You can find everthing in the house to spend a beautyful time in wilderness! You can enjoy a wonderful sky at night full of stars! And you'll slepp perfect, because it's so quiet there and the temperatures are pleasant. Arround the house you have a great sight! Mountaims and wilderness, nature and wildlife! Thank you Dean for your house, we would stay again there! And.... in Cortez you can buy everthing you need!
We truly enjoyed this home. The home has all the necessary amenities to make for a comfortable stay. It is secluded, quiet, well-maintained, clean and cozy. The owner was very accommodating and very pleasant to work with. The home is in close proximity to Mesa Verde National Park, the town of Cortez and town of Dolores. The home suited our small family of four very well. We look forward to a future stay!
Everything it purported to be! Superb customer service from reservation process to Dean’s promptly answering our phone calls before and after we arrived. It was spotlessly clean. Plenty of towels, etc. Extra blankets for the lovely cool nights. Wonderfully outfitted Kitchen. All that is necessary for comfort and more. Beautiful setting. Close enough to towns for anything that might be needed or wanted. Far enough away from towns and neighbors to feel really away from it all. No lights to fade the view of the Milky Way at night!
We, and our family living in the area there, will be recommending it to anyone we know wanting to find a place to stay.
