Quoted from our house guestbook: "The house is a beautiful vintage Hawaii home with all the amenties, very clean. The cool breeze is constant and welcome in the summer heat. We enjoyed our stay very much. Some bicycles would be a plus."

I grew up in Honolulu, and always dreamed of living on Kailua Beach. This home fulfilled all of my childhood dreams and THEN some.

The location is perfect for a relaxing family beach vacation and the house was large, inviting and very comfortable for my family of 7. The bedrooms were spacious, the beds and linens were heavenly, the living room was glorious and the kitchen is stocked with every creature comfort and amenity. I also loved that I could cook dinner (and have a cocktail) in the kitchen while watching my 3 kids play in the pool after a day at the beach.

Then there is the OUTSIDE of the house, which supplies every paddle board, boogie board and beach toy imaginable. We loved the glorious back yard and BBQ dining area where we could have family dinners at sunset.

And Kailua Beach didn't disappoint. We loved boogie boarding the waves right outside of the house, riding bikes into Lanikai and Kailua town and just enjoying the relaxing mellow vibe of being in Kailua.

Lastly, I can't thank Uta enough for everything she did. Uta was warm, friendly and made sure that our stay was perfect from beginning to end. She was also incredibly and charmingly responsive when we couldn't figure out how to work the TV!

I cannot recommend this home highly enough and we cannot wait to return.

This house was perfect from the moment we arrived! The pictures do not do it justice. The access to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world was just steps away! We enjoyed the sunrise every morning with a cup of Lion coffee from the BBQ patio with built in bleachers that give you a perfect view over the hedge! The house itself was well appointed, clean and very comfortable. The great room was just that and had ample room for our party of six but could easily accommodate more. Uta kept in contact with us to ensure a great trip. She was accessible via text message and handled our questions with great care and warm Aloha spirit! One of the showers didn't work when we arrived. It was promptly repaired the next day. Uta really knows how to take care of her guests! There is plenty of beach equipment (chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards). I personally loved the Tiki Bar window access from the pool area to the kitchen with the ice maker which made happy hour so easy and fun! We can't wait to come back for another visit!

Kalaka is amazing! Do not hesitate! We felt the Aloha spirit from the moment we walked in the door. Uta (manager) was kind, welcoming and thoughtful. The house has lots of space, and everything is provided for the beach (except your swimsuit!). Everything was beautiful. Being right on the beach made it easy for some of our group to go beaching while we took turns being in the house for the baby's nap, kids' snacks, etc. the setup for the swimming pool made it easy for us to watch the older kids swim while we relaxed, or started dinner. Even now, I look at our pictures and long to return...

Aloha Paradise!!

  • 5 of 5

This house was amazing! We had a group of 7 ranging from 2-65, and we all had a great time! The view in the mornings is second to none. Coffee on the beach every morning at 6:30a to watch the sunrise! Waves were good for body boarding, and every piece of outdoor equipment is provided. Kids loved the pool after beach time. Adults loved the hot tub at the end of the day. The house itself is perfect and screams classic Hawaii. The room with the twin beds is attached to a bedroom with a king bed, it was perfect to put our babies (2 and 3 years old) in. The location is great, right on the beach, but 5 minutes drive to the grocery store and shopping. Can't wait to come back! Truly paradise. The photos don't do this house justice of the beauty.

We love this house. We've visited 3 times with 2 and then 3 kids with grandparents. Great for families with small kids who need naps and older kids who can swim. Well kept, clean and great amenities. Great beach access, yard, grill, hot tub, pool and lanai. We'll be back for sure. And, Uta is a superb property manager.

Private, charming, on the beach, great for all!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 5 ranged in age from 18-72. The house is set up so that the bedrooms are separated by an enormous living room. The beds were comfy, the linens high-quality. The house was built in the 40's and maintains the character of that era. The home is very tastefully decorated and all kitchen supplies are great (not cheap stuff). There is a full freezer (but bring ice as the ice maker can't keep up) and full fridge. The home comes with bogie boards (we all tried this fun sport-great for all ages), surf boards, beach umbrellas and chairs, tons of beach towels, a cooler, and some lawn games. The garage fits 2 cars.

Each of the 3 bedrooms has its own bathroom and the dining room is giant-great for sit-down meals. There are 2 grills, 2 outdoor showers, a hot tub, and beautiful pool. We dipped in that after the beach every evening.

We had some issues with a toilet, and Uta was right there to fix it. She is AMAZING! We arrived to a gift basket of goodies, as well as a call insuring she'd be available to help us with anything. Anytime I contacted her, she was quick with a friendly response (I couldn't find the washing machine which was outside by the pool).

Each morning we were greeted by a chicken family while we had coffee on the porch. We then walked across the soft lawn and 15 feet down the path to the powdery sand. The beach was a bit crowded, but that's what you get at one of the top beaches n the world. No snorkeling here, but Lanikai is a 5 minute drive and PERFECT. Kailua is great for swimming, boarding, sunning, people-watching, etc.

We hit Costco on the way in order to stock up, but there are grocery stores near by. There are also snorkel gear rental places.

I'd go back in a heartbeat.
