Think stilt house in the 'Caribbean' on the water - a broad protected harbor with immediate ocean access and a 70 foot seawall/dock. Think about boating and fishing - you'll find a fish cleaning station on the dock and a lighted tower to beckon you home from the sea; think relaxing, listening to music, getting that beat. Then consider you’ll have all the amenities in a newly refurbished, cozily furnished stilt home including a completely functional kitchen.
We sleep six comfortably in three bedrooms: The master has a king-sized bed, the second, two twins and the third has a queen-sized bed. For winding down you have a nice-sized HDTV, a DVD player and Wi-Fi if you simply must stay in touch. A utility room downstairs offers a washer and dryer for all those towels and swimsuits, as well as a small freezer for your bait and catch.
Now of course if you bring your boat, you’ll have to motor/sail over to the Island Grill for lunch or some music in the afternoon. It’s directly across Snake Creek on the ocean side, just takes a few minutes and a minimum of ambition. For a slightly longer lazy ride head out of the harbor and one key farther, you’re by the sandbar out from the “world famous Tiki Bar.' You can land or hang on the sandbar with a cold one listening to music from a respectful distance. You didn’t come from the mainland to go to the gym and call your banker, did you?
This was our first stay at Sallie’s wonderful house. My wife, two teenage boys and I moved in and made this paradise our home. We put our 22’ Bay boat in the water and tied it up in the back yard for easy access. We fished, Snorkeled and enjoyed the easy access to the water every day. We fished the Islamorada humps and ate fresh Black fin Tuna and dolphin that night. The next day we went Bayside and that night, we ate fresh Snapper. Bait and ice were easy to get at Smugglers Marine on snake creek by the draw bridge. My 17 year old was startled when cleaning fish at the cleaning station and a group of Manatees showed up to see what he was doing. The boys never grew tired of jumping in the spectacular clear blue water and seeing what was under the boat. Once back home, we found everything we needed thanks to Sallie’s preparations.
We were so pleased that we have already made plans to come back next year.
This was my fourth January staying at Fisherman's Paradise. I bring my boat down from Maryland each year. Perfect location for fishing on the reef and going backcountry thru Snake Creek. Nice small neighborhood, very quiet with lots of palm trees, plants, birds, and manatee's. Sallie is a joy to work with and the neighbors are very friendly. I can't think of a better place to spend January in. I am of course coming back next year.
My family and I had just a fabulous time boating and fishing the Islamorada area. We will return here next year for more fun! This house is ideal for fishing the reef only five miles off shore. Great easy docking and plenty of room to store fishing equipment in the lower level storage. I really can't say enough about how nice Sally the owner is to work with. I have not actually met her but feel as though I know her just from talking on the phone. She's a real treat to deal with.
This is a fabulous location and a great vacation rental! The water is deep with a very easy access to the ocean. Additionally, the bay side is also easy to get to going through nearby Snake Creek. AND there are many super restaurants nearby to enjoy. The house is clean and bright. The owner is super nice to work with. Even the neighbors on both sides are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this rental property and hope to return.
There is nothing bad I can say about this place. The home is beautiful and clean! Such great tropical surroundings so close to fine dining. Loved seeing the Manatees swimming in the back yard harbor. The owner is kind, easy and very "generous" when working with the time frame. Could not find a price this low for renting a home of this quality or better. What a dream! Can’t wait to go back during off or low season!
My wife and I spent a month at Fisherman's Retreat and had a great month. Home located in quiet neighborhood with plenty of room and close to local sites including Founders Park, Island Grill and the World Wide Sportsman. Location for fishing is the best. From dock to Sailfishing grounds takes 15 minutes. Can't wait to return next year. Sallie is wonderful to work with and all the neighbors are very friendly.
Oceanside, a short ride from civilization - about an hour and a half from Miami International Airport but a world away. Head directly out of the harbor into the ocean (five minutes to the end of the key and under the bridge for back country fishing, a boat ride to 'World famous Tiki Bar, its sand bar, or serious deep water fishing, snorkeling, diving and all the water sports. On land great restaurants, a complete community park with olympic pool, tennis courts, sand beach, etc, directly across the access road, as well as local artists' studio, 'The Rainbarrel'. From lazy to ambitiously athletic, it's all here. Come play with us.
